So, after some time and dealing with my wifes medical since december of last year i've finally manage to eek out some time to start writing, the next chapter has started, as for this chapter it was taken down and i received a notification that Lit thought it was writing by AI, the editor i was using told me he was using AI to edit so i'm going to post the unedited chapter and start working on the next one. After clearing out the belongings of Minerva, Cody walked to the room with Ashley, asking, "So we just wait nearby and when she comes back, talk to her and see if we can't help her?"
"Yes, seeing as she comes here in her demi form and lives here, she either lost her stone or she uses it so she can travel and live places without having to pay rent. Not too uncommon among demis," Ashley responded.
As they both got closer they heard a muffled thud, They walked to the door hearing a voice whisper, "Where's my stuff, oh no."
Cody turned around the corner saying, "Hello, my names..." Cody trailed off as everything became slow including him, his mind working in overdrive.
Cody looked at the scared looking women who looked at them with nervous fear while inhaling, Cody was physical changing into his dragon form slowly while his eyes noticed the gathering of natural magic around her throat, Cody looked at Ashley whos face slowly turned from neutral into surprise, her hands slowly lifted towards her head, Cody looked back at Minerva yelling, "Wait."
As the word was drawn out Cody reached out and started to shove Ashley to the side away from the door, he slowly braced himself covering his one ear while bringing his other hand to his second ear. Cody could see the ripples in the air from the force of Minerva's scream, As Ashley floated in the air from Cody's shove he felt the first of many waves hit him, shaking his body vibrating it violently, his ears burst as the second and third wave lifted him of his feet throwing him into the railing behind him, the rest of the waves washed over him cause intense pain.
Outside the building everyone clutched their heads in pain, the people inside the building fell to the floor in pain some of their ears rupturing, inside the RV the people heard the scream and quickly readied themselves with equipment and ran out, Pascal who had just walked inside the barrier was talking to the front security officer fell to her knees holding her ears in pain, the officer ran outside with ringing ears and brought her into the small tent knowing she was a guest.
As the scream stopped Cody opened his eyes to a blurred world he saw a giant white blotch near a window open the window then stop, it then slowly moved closer to him. Cody pulled his hands away from his head and held out his hands toward the white blotch to try and stop it, he felt a warm sensation on his hands for a few seconds, then the woman fell into lap pinning his dizzy mind and shocked body there.
The security team quickly ran through the building noticing everyone was slowly recovering they moved up the stairs getting closer to Cody, they saw a strange women sitting in his lap licking the sides of his head using her wings to hold him down, the lead man threw off his helmet and pulled off a bracelet and passed it to someone and sprinted forward changing into a feline demi human.
Cody struggled against Minerva trying to speak but not saying anything when the weight on his lap suddenly vanished, a moment later Cody felt relief pass through his whole body as a green stone shone on his chest, his vision grew sharper and Cody managed to yell, "Get her, no hurt her," Before the world turned black.
Cody groaned as he tried to sit up only to feel a wave of dizziness wash over him forcing him back into the cot, he looked around as Dennis sat nearby, "How are you feeling sir?" Dennis asked Cody, seeing no response he held out a tablet with the same question writing in large black letters.
"Dizzy," Cody yelled not hearing himself, he saw Dennis flinch and took the tablet, after a few moments he handed it back to Dennis with the question, 'How's Ashley and is everyone ok.'
Dennis typed underneath the questions, 'She's being tended to, she's a mouse demi so her hearing is better than most, she was having a seizure when we got to her, so far everything is getting better, Secondly everyones ok just a little shocked, your quest arrived and was hit by the scream as well.'
Cody read it and quickly typed, 'Pascal? Is she okay?'
Dennis typed back, 'Yes a little shaking but she's still here waiting to talk to you,'
Cody sighed in relief and typed his final question, 'What about Minerva?'
Dennis looked a little nervous as he typed, 'She's in holding with an enchanted bite guard to stop her from screaming again.'
Cody sighed and typed out one request, 'Be kind to her, I think we scared her and she reacted to defend herself, plus she drank my blood and now I have to keep watch over her.'
Dennis read it and nodded before standing and walking out, Pascal slowly came inside and stood near the door, Cody saw her and signaled for her to come closer, once pascal was near Cody said quietly minding his volume, "Sorry you had to be here for that."
"Don't be sorry," Pascal started to say but stopped when she noticed Cody couldn't hear her so she held up her hand and pointed to her eye then did an 'ok' hand gesture.
Cody smirked then sighed as he sat up again this time the dizziness was less, he managed to sit up and reached out to Pascal, she moved closer and held him stand, Cody started to moved, once they exited the small medical office Dennis moved closer asking Pascal, "Why is he up?"
Pascal shrugged and responded with, "I don't know, he didn't say anything."
Cody said quietly, "Take me to the girl." Dennis nodded and signaled for them to follow him. They followed Dennis to a small closet sized room with Minerva sitting down, her wings wrapped around her body and a bite guard with a small magic circle on it covering her face.
Cody looked at the crying girl who was shaking lightly, he knelt down and waved slowly at her, when Minerva looked up she froze, Cody was still in his changed state and said, "Hello, I'm sorry for scaring you earlier, but if I recall you licked my blood right?"
Minerva started to talk and Cody heard the muffled but couldn't make out the words. He waved his hand and said while paying attention to his volume, "I can't hear anything, my ears are still ringing."
Minerva raised one of her wings and tapped the mask covering her mouth, Cody looked back and said, "Take it off."
Dennis shook his head and typed on the tablet, 'Sorry but we can't do that, various reasons including safety precautions,'
Cody looked up and Dennis and said, "Do it, let me hold it,"
Dennis shook his head and Cody snapped his fingers giving Dennis a cold stare that made him pause, Manny walked in and said, "Do as he said."
Dennis looked and Manny and sighed, he reached around Minerva and took it off handing the mask to Cody, Cody looked back as Minerva nervously reached forward towards his head, Only he saw the gathering of magic but this time the intent behind it was very different, he held his hand up at Dennis who started speaking thinking that She was going to attack, everyone stopped and watched as waves slowly washed over Cody.
Cody sighed in relief as the ringing ebbed, the dizziness vanished as the gentle hum slowly quieted, "There, I used a different frequency and tone to help calm the vibrations that damaged your ear canal and ear drum," Minerva said with a quiet and shaky voice.
Cody opened his eyes and said, "Please tell me what you were trying to say again."
"I'm so sorry, I thought you guys were hunters, I've been taking stuff to a new place and was almost done just needed a few more trips and I would have been gone, but when I came back and saw everything gone and then I heard you walking I panicked," Minerva explained going quiet.
"That explains the scream, what about licking my blood?" Cody asked, standing.
"I don't know, when I was about to run I caught the scent, I've never smelt blood so fragrant, the taste was so good, the deepest tang followed by," Minerva was saying before Cody snapped his fingers.
"I don't need to know all that, what I do know is that now you're coming home with me," Cody stated.
Everyone looked at Cody in shock, "What? I'm a dragon, My blood changes demis, secondly she can do me a solid favor," Cody said with a tone that told everyone who heard it that there was no bargaining.
"What favor?" Minerva asked, looking terrified and nervous.
"You'll see when we get there, also Pascal you're coming to," Cody said looking at her.
"Well with how we've been interacting I was expecting that, but why bring her? She just blew your eardrums and hurt everyone here?" Pascal asked the question no one else would.
"I need to watch her to make sure that whatever changes happen don't become permanent, also she has wings for arms, she can be useful for a few weeks," Cody said as he offered his hand to Minerva.
"I'm going to change?" Minerva asked, looking scared, she stood up not taking the offered hand. Cody looked confused prompting her to say quietly, "I have a giant single claw for a thumb, can't really hold hands."
"Fair enough, Can you get someone to drive her stuff and her inside a van?" Cody asked Manny who looked a bit annoyed.
"I can sir, I have one question, Can you heal someone else?" Manny asked Minerva.
"Yes," Minerva answered and followed them, holding her wings around her body like she was hugging herself.
They all walked over to another cot where Ashley was laying fully transformed still out and shaking randomly, "OH NO, she's a mouse demi right?" Minerva asked quickly, moving forward looking panicked.
The person next to Ashely looked angry but stepped back as Manny held up his hand, "Yes she is, we know she has good hearing but we didn't expect it to do this much damage."
"Mouse and other small rodents can hear into the ultrasonic frequencies, I'm surprised she didn't die right away," Minerva said as she built up the magic in her throat and unleashed a low frequency tone that vibrates the whole RV, after a minute Ashley stirred, when she saw Minerva she backed up quickly covering her ears, Manny reached forward and held her hands, Ashley stopped and breathed in.
"What the hell happened?" Ashley asked looking panicked, "The last thing I remember is Cody shoving me then nothing."
"You were hit by her ultrasonic scream, it scrambled your whole brain pretty badly, thankfully the medic team got to you but even after you were stabilized you didn't wake up. I watched her heal Cody and asked her to do the same. They were about to go to his place." Manny explained slowly.
"What, why?" Ashley asked as she jumped up and nearly fell.
Manny caught her as he said, "I'll explain later, let them go okay."
"Okay," Ashley said reluctantly as she sat back down.
Manny stood and nodded as he turned his head and said loudly, "Oliver, get the van ready and pack all the stuff we got from the top room in there."
From another room Oliver responded with, "Yes sir."
"Do you want to tell Manny where this other place is? Maybe he can get two guys to go get your stuff," Cody asked Minerva and Manny.
"Give us the address and I'll send two guys to collect everything," Manny responded nodding to Cody.
"I don't know the address, if you pull out a map I can show you which building, but to get in will require some climbing," Minerva answered.
