'......ather, Father.' You hear a young girl calling out and see an older man sitting at his desk. Behind him are several photos and awards including a MoH inside a frame, there are also several flags including a guidon, a folded American Flag, and a flag that that was obviously from a foreign army. 'In here kitten.' He answers as you look at the photos of him with various President and a young Asian woman, then 1, 2, 3 and finally 4 young children. He is dressed in ACUs with 3 stars on his chest and the crossed rifles of Infantry. There is a scar that goes from his forehead to the left side of his jaw, this is obviously and old wound that was long sense healed up.
'A young Asian woman dressed in a green flight suit with Captains bars on her shoulders and a name patch that had pilots wing and the name Bishop, K. M. on it come in and hugs him. 'Hello kitten, flying today I see.' He says and receives a cross look from her. 'Yes, father I'm flying today, and I'll be back before dinner tonight.' She said. He just smiled at her. 'Of course, you are kitten, I may be 90 but I'm not blind or stupid, and please remember that dinner is at 1830 with cocktails starting at 1700 kitten.' He replied.'
'She stomps her foot and scowls at him. 'Father, I am not a cat.' She snaps at him. He just laughs and hugs her to him. 'Yes, you are Kathern, when you were born you didn't cry you mewed like a kitten. And you've always looked just like your mother, you never got as tall as you 2 brothers and sister. But that's okay I love you none the less my little kitten.' He told her.
'Father!' Kathern snaps at him as he laughed and hugged her yet again. She grumped at him and kissed the top of his tan bald head. 'Be sure to bring that young Major to dinner tonight kitten. I'd like to meet the young man that has taken a place in your heart.' He said. Kathern stood there with her mouth agape. 'And just how have you heard about him father?' She said her eyes narrowing. He just looked up and smiled then returned to the paperwork on his desk. '1730 kitten, don't be late, dress is casual no uniforms or T-shirts.' he said as another person walked into the room.'
'Morning John.' He said and came into camera view. You can see he's an older Colonel, he hands John several folders and takes a few off his desk. 'Tony, where's my coffee ya slacker.' John yells towards the open door. 'It's coming ya old grouch, keep your panties on.' Tony answers back and walked in a few minutes later caring in a cup and several donuts on a plate. 'I swear John you'd lose your head if you didn't get your morning coffee.' He said. 'We have a new cook coming up around 1000 to test out Boss so don't scare him off just yet.' He was wearing Master Sargent stripes on his sleeve, from the ribbon on his and the Colonels shirts, you can see they've been in some serious battles.'
'Tony you and Bobby handle the day-to-day shit here, so is he going to be a personal orderly or just a cook's helper for this hack poisoner we got here?' John asked Bobby and pointing over at Tony. 'You always eat this hack poisoner's grub Mister, so I'd be careful.' Tony grouched back and heard back to the kitchen. The 3 remaining laughed as he stomped out. 'Daddy, I don't know what he has planned for tonight.' Kathern said. John looked up at her then over at Bobby. 'Colonel, explain it to her if you would please.' John said to Bobby. 'The way it works Captain is, the General tells you to do something, and you salute and say Yes Sir. Then carry out the order to the best of your ability.' Bobby told Kathern. Both John and Bobby looked at her, waiting. 'Say Yes Sir young lady.' Bobby said.'
'Kathern gritted her teeth and smiled at her father and the Colonel. 'Yes Sir.' She said. John and Bobby both smiled. 'There see, that's called willful obedience to orders Captain.' John said. 'Now get out of here both of you, I've got work to do before I can retire. Shoo.' Kathern kissed the top of his head yet again and headed out of the picture. 'Bobby, deliver a message that it is the Generals desire that Major Adam Wellen dine with the family tonight. Dress is casual blah, blah, blah. Is Kate free tonight?' John said. Bobby nodded. 'Have her and Bob Jr come to. I hear he's doing well at the Point.' Both men smiled. 'Alright then, get out of here and remind Tony that the kids are coming for Memorial Day, so have the spare house cleaned and I'd like to get the wood cut, split and stacked for this winter. Looks like we might have one like we did during the war, and I'd like to be ready before it hits.' John said. Bobby nodded and left the room.'
'John looked out the window at the Base not 4 miles away, it's runway and revetments holding AH -84 C Guardian Attack Helicopters, SH -66 Red Hawk transport Helos and several MH -76 G Pave Hawks for JSOC flights. He remembered a time when he had bought the property to make it a sports and recreation area for Tuscan Co. the small town that was just across road from it. The area measured 1.5 by 3.2 miles wide by long. It would have made a good place to have a baseball/ softball field, a soccer pitch, a skeet area, football field and walking trails that would be pet friendly. Now it was home to 2500+ troops that guarded this area of Colorado and the surrounding areas. As the first Commander he had been allowed to name it, he's decided to call it Fort Apache. He looked down at the camera and begins to speak.'
'This is an official memoir, the only official memoir that has been authorized by me. Several hacks have tried to publish unauthorized ones and they've quickly found out that doing so was detrimental to their bank accounts and reputations. I've always been a private person and never wished to be thrust into the spotlight, but somehow, I always seem to end up there. My name is John P. Bishop, Lt. General AUS Infantry. CO of the Southern Colorado Defense Area. My daughter has always said that I should do this, to be sure that I set the record straight about what happened up here during the 27 months we were at war with the former North Korea.'
'If you wonder what was there, I can tell you that it was known as the hermit kingdom and always pushing for a war with the South and us the U.S. It like many other dictatorships has ended up on the trash heap of history after fucking with America one to many times. So, what really happened up here? How did thing go down? what did I really do to destroy an NK airborne Battalion that landed here.'
'Well let's start with the basics, how could I afford the things that I owned and had stored away, set up or stashed out of sight. 3 years before the war started, I won one of the big pay out lotteries and had the foresight to buy up property in many places and build bunkers on that land. Stocking them was a pain in the ass but when you have a few friends in high places, you can do it without drawing a lot of attention. Auctions were a good place to get vehicles and other thing. Having a business that makes weapons is another way to make a lot of money especially when the weapons you make get noticed by the SpecOps community.'
