Author's notes:
This is the continuation of A Long Time from Home and if you haven't read that, I advise you to do so. The series is self-edited, so any mistakes are mine.
Some of the chapters will take place in the ancient past and while I have done a lot of research for that, there might be small errors here and there. If you think you found such an error in the story, please double check to be sure that you're correct and then PM me about it, so I can fix it. :)
Oh, and notice, that I write in British English, so there will be slight differences in spelling certain words, like the British 'realise' versus the US 'realize' or the UK 'colour' vs the US 'color'.
Due to its length, I placed ALTFH under the 'Novels and Novellas' section, but as you can see, ALTFH II is placed in the 'Sci-fi and Fantasy' section, which fits it better due to the elements of magic that's in it. At least in my opinion :)
In the prologue, I stated that I would upload chapters of 'Into the Chaos' (my Star Wars: The Old Republic story) every other time, but I felt like the Prologue couldn't really count as a whole chapter, so here's a 'real' chapter.
Have fun and while you're at it, please rate the chapter and leave a comment :)
About the notation:
Mental communication is denoted by a < and ends with a >, so a mental communication will look like this: "< Who are you? >"
Some warnings
:
This is erotic action adventure, meaning that there will be both sex and violence, but I don't mix the two.

1 - Costa Rica
Late July 2000, Costa Rica
The garden in what used to be Parker's estate in Costa Rica, was a truly beautiful place and I was enjoying the smell of the flowers, as I relaxed with a cold cider in a comfortable chair in one of the gardens gazebos.
A lot of events had happened in a very short time and my mind was still trying to catch up.
Parker
, the criminal Mentat I had fought and subsequently defeated in Malaga, had built both a mercantile- and a criminal empire and to save more than thirty kidnapped children, I had decided to take Parker's place in both establishments. Mainly because I didn't know how closely related the legal and illegal organizations were.
The legal part of Parkers business was called
Starlight Merchant Group
and had its headquarter on Oldenburg Island in the Caribbean, so we had sailed there and started the process of taking over Parkers former company.
The take-over itself was fairly easy. Parker had been so sure that he would find the youth potion he was looking for, that he had meticulously planned and prepared how he could take over his own company: He would go away, take the potion, and come back as his own (non-existing) nephew, leaving time enough get a plastic operation to change his appearance. That way he could change identity, while retaining control of everything he owned, as he became the heir to his own empire.
So, my plan was to simply assume the identity of Parkers nephew and take over the company that way. Since Parker had meant to be a younger version of himself, the only fail-safe in his plan was that the new owner had to be able to use the mental trick and codeword to transfer the loyalty of all the top people in the company to himself. Considering that I had read his mind in Malaga, that wasn't a problem.
After some Ars Mentalis tricks Parker had been declared dead, complete with trustworthy witnesses and a dead body that was later cremated and buried at sea. Legal papers proving I was his heir had been put forward and accepted.
What I hadn't considered was the amount of paperwork that had to be done. Fortunately, Parker had already made plans for this and as I had the whole Board of Directors of Starlight Merchant Group to help, it had taken less than two weeks to get moving.
With everything in order there was little for me to do while the rest of the paperwork was brought in order, leaving me free to sail to Costa Rica, as had been the plan all along. Curtis had abducted a bunch of kids and my plan was to go free them as fast as possible, while still being careful enough so the various agencies didn't come after me.
On the bright side, I had discovered that Parker had files on just about everything and everybody and the delay gave me a chance to study the files Parker had on the estates and people in Costa Rica.
Parker had seen Costa Rica as one of the most stable countries in the area and over the years, he had bought large areas of land on both side of the county. True to form, he got it even cheaper than normal due to the financial crisis at that time and while ownership of an area in Costa Rica could be tricky, Parker had used his mental powers on various lawmakers that consequently made some legal trickery to ensure that the areas remained under his control no matter what happened.
An action that made sense, as Starlight Merchant Group owned more than fifty thousand acres in the Northwest, including a bay called Culebra Bay along with most of the Papagayo Peninsula.
Not only did that give him a sheltered bay with a marina, but also a good chunk of land in the so-called 'dry area', though I wouldn't call any area with an annual rainfall of 'less than 1500mm (59inches)' for dry.
As always, when dealing with real estate, Parker clearly knew what he was doing, as a new international airport had opened near the area, with a corresponding raise in the number of visitors to the five hotels Starlight Merchant Group, under the subdivision of
Starlight Hospitality
, owned in the area.
For those wanting a more rustic vacation, they had no less than seven great estates, where the visitors could experience the local wildlife, ride horses, bathe in waterfalls or just relax on the beach in-between surfing and swimming.
I wouldn't have thought such a vacation would attract any people, but I had overlooked how many people in this age lived all their lives in cities and wanted to see exotic nature when on vacation. In short, business was booming.
The same was health tourism and Starlight Hospitality not only owned a newly built hospital in Costa Rica, but they also had several health retreats, where people could recuperate after surgery at the hospital or just visit to relieve the stress of their daily lives.
That part of the business was actually a very old concept and one I had experienced before. I had even worked as a healer at a health retreat in Epidaurus in ancient Greece for a few years and visited the town of Aquae Sulis with its famous baths in Britannia during roman times. Naturally, things were very different now, but it was still similar enough to remind me once again, that while the world changed, people didn't. At least not as much as they thought.
Parkers home in Costa Rica was called
Villa Bonita
and was located on the east coast by the Caribbean Sea. Situated on the southern part of the coast, the seven-thousand-acre (28 square kilometers) area ran from the beach to the mountains in what used to be a remote area when Parker bought it in 1980. Much had happened in the twenty years since then and what used to be a remote area, was now a thriving tourist destination, taking advantage of the area's position on the Caribbean coast, bordering on of Costa Rica's many national parks.
Not only did the area have some fantastic beaches, but also a marina, several small hotels, a wellness retreat, some local farms and even a small village, all located in the lowlands. As the terrain quickly grew into low mountains, there was yet another wellness retreat and several lodges.
The villa itself sat on top of a large hill, surrounded by woodlands, with exotic flowers everywhere and a fantastic view over the Caribbean Sea. Once the villa had been the main building of a large cattle ranch and along with the house itself, there was two guesthouses, a swimming pool, a stable as well as various outbuildings. Before Parker had bought the place, it had served briefly as a vacation retreat and around the whole compound and its gardens and orchards, there was a wall, ensuring security and privacy.
Now it was mine, or at least would be as soon as the paperwork was done, and...
The sound of feet on wet grass interrupted my train of thoughts. Looking in the direction of the noise, I discovered Petra walking quickly through the rain as she crossed the lawn in the direction of the gazebo. Despite her summer dress and brown hair becoming soaked by the heavy rain, there was a wide smile on her face. The combination of her beauty and the way the wet clothes clung to the voluptuous body of the Ukrainian woman brought a smile to my face as well.
Like the other four female soldiers, I had liberated from Parker's imprisonment in Malaga, she was beautiful, tall, slim, and fit, with large breasts and long legs. Her exceptional looks weren't a coincidence, as Parker had used his criminal network to find exactly that kind of women to be mind-controlled into a combined bodyguard and sex-slave. A plan I had spoiled by defeating him and liberating the women. Unfortunately, they were all wanted in their home countries and couldn't return there. To make it worse, circumstances during their liberation had forced me to activate the loyalty codex and now they were all bonded to me. At least until I found a way to negate Parker's loyalty codex.
On the bright side, they knew a lot more about the world than I did, and had a lot of useful skills, that I didn't have. Driving a car was one of those skills and Petra had driven the car that brought us from the harbour city of Limon where the yacht was docked to Villa Bonita, while the rest of the women would join us later.
