The Comet's Tail Ch Eight

Company

Silo 025 was the closest to the air base. It was only twenty miles up a mountain slope. It still had missiles and was manned around the clock. The commander of the silo when the comet came was Major Reginald Logan. Logan was a good officer, except for one blind spot, his skin color. He was a black man who was convinced everyone else was out to get him. It had hindered his career his entire time in the Air Force. It was why he was sitting in a bunker on a mountainside instead of flying a helicopter. He was good at flying a helicopter. However, he had more than one run-in with his superiors concerning his career. The last straw for the Air Force was the last run-in. His last squadron commander was Colonel Hue Nguyen, a Vietnamese that had come to this country with his parents at the end of the Vietnamese War. He had graduated from the Air Force Academy with honors. It seemed Logan was convinced Nguyen should not be here and should not be his superior officer. He could not hide his opinions for very long before things were said and Logan ended up in a silo on a mountain.

Logan had an eight-man crew, just like Richard Core did. Logan decided if he had to have a tight crew, he wanted them to be HIS people. He would check new members out, and if they didn't have an edge he considered sharp enough, he transferred them out. He had been the commander of silo 025 for two years, and he was happy with his crew. Captain Betsy Voss was second in command. She had no use for "foreigners". Most of his men had been in trouble in their previous commands and Logan didn't really care about any of that. Just do what he told you, and he will be good to you.

They had been ordered to button the silo up tight and wait for the comet to pass. They were told they would get additional orders after the comet passed. After the comet, the radio was silent. They tried for a couple of days with no results. After four days, they decided to abandon their post and go see what was going on at the base. They piled into two cars and headed for the base. (They missed Bill by one day.)

Upon arriving at the base, they saw what Bill had seen. People wandering around like zombies.

Logan told everyone to check out the base and meet back at the front office. Twenty minutes later they were standing in the reception area totally confused.

Logan shook his head. "What the hell is going on here? Everyone looks like they are in a dream." He walked over to the receptionist's desk. The night clerk was sitting there after four days, staring straight ahead. "What's wrong with her?" He tapped her check. She just sat there. He slapped her harder. She just recoiled, and then sat there.

Voss injected. "Everyone we saw was just like her. This must be something from the comet."

Logan nodded and then smiled. "Yeah, we may have an entire base to ourselves. Command is not answering, so they must look like this."

He reached over and grabbed the receptionist by the breast. She just sat there. He stood her up and ripped her shirt off. She just stood there. He popped her bra off and she just stood there. Her nipples weren't even hard. It was as if she wasn't even there.

"I'm going to like this place. Round up everyone from the base into the auditorium." The men left to do as ordered. Logan looked at Voss. "We could have some fun here."

She just grinned and shook her head. Within thirty minutes they had forty men and twenty women in the auditorium.

The crew stood on the stage looking at the assortment of men and women before them. Logan gathered his men together.

"Here is what I see. We have the base. These former people will not prevent us from doing whatever we want. We will need to consolidate our control before these people come out of whatever this is. I am going to get rid of the men and we can keep the women for ourselves. Any objections?"

Voss spoke up. "None, except I am going to keep a couple of the men for myself. I need a dick every once in a while."

"Agreed. Twenty women, seven of us men. We will start with each of you picking two women for yourselves. When that is done, we will have six left over for the general party pool."

Logan went for a beautiful twenty-five-year-old first year Airman. He couldn't remember her name, but he didn't care, she was bitch #1 from now on. He selected his second plaything and moved it over to a corner of the room. The other men quickly selected their two women. Within five minutes, the women had been divided into seven groups of two, and one group of six. Next came the men. Voss had picked her two men.

Logan spoke up. "We can't feed the rest of these men. Take them outside."

They did so. They took them into an empty hanger. Logan went up to the base commander. He hated this man, a lifer that he was sure had been blocking his career. He pulled his pistol and shot him between the eyes. Logan looked at his men, nodded, and they began the turkey shoot. Within a couple of minutes, there were thirty-eight airmen laying on the floor dead.

Logan had an idea. "I'll be right back." He went into the building and came back with the senior officer and the General's right-hand person. She was an older woman who had a no-nonsense reputation. Logan shot her in the face. "I forgot her. We don't need that bitch. No one would want to fuck her anyway.

"Okay. I am going to take the commander's quarters. I don't think he will object." He looked over at the general laying on the concrete with a hole in his head and laughed. "Everyone select your quarters and get your pets arranged. We will meet here this afternoon, after you have had the opportunity to inspect you new property."

Logan took his pets by the hand and headed to the commander's quarters. The two women followed him without resistance. When he arrived at the quarters, Logan turned his attention to the two women. He quickly stripped them of their clothes and inspected them carefully, too carefully. He had a great time probing each one until he was bored. He pulled his clothes off and bent the closest woman over a chair. He did reach between her legs to see if

she had any moisture. Good thing, because she was as dry as his mouth. If he had not done so, she would have been good for only one or two insertions before she was torn apart. He wanted to keep her for longer than that, so he stuck his finger into her vagina and began rubbing. She made no obvious moves or noises to indicate she was aware of what was happening, but her body did begin to produce moisture. When he decided she was moist enough, he climbed up her back and inserted himself into her. She stood there quietly while he enjoyed the sensation of dominating this white woman. The thought brought him to climax quickly. Too quickly. Not to worry. He had another toy to play with. He pushed this one onto the couch and turned for the second. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her over to the chair. He bent her over the chair and checked her. He had to work her also for a couple of minutes until he could mount her. He enjoyed this even more than the first. This was going to be okay at the base.

Voss led her two pets to the next largest quarters. Once inside she stripped her clothes off. The two men just stood there, starring straight ahead. She grabbed the first one and began pulling his clothes off. Once he was naked, she grabbed his dick to see if she could get a rise out of him. It didn't seem to harden with her hand. In desperation, she bent down and began sucking on it. To her surprise, it hardened nicely. She quickly pushed onto the couch on his back. His dick was sticking straight up, and she climbed aboard. It stayed hard and she enjoyed the ride. She stopped before he ejaculated to see what happened. He just lay there with his dick sticking up, slimy and wet. She left him where he was and went for the second one. She stripped him and had to perform her little service before he would stand up. She pushed him over the other half of the couch and climbed aboard. This time, she rode him until he ejaculated. When she climbed off, she watched to see what would happen. By then the first man had deflated, and the second deflated quicker. She was satisfied.

Later that afternoon, everyone gathered back in the main office. Logan got everyone's attention. "Get one of the large trucks and load the bodies onto it. We can't leave them here. Take them outside the fence and leave them for the wolves and bears. Once they have finished with them, we can take tractor out and bury them."

The men took care of it. When they were gone, Voss got a hose and washed down the hanger floor.

They met back at the dining hall to see what provisions they had. They had plenty of everything. They ate and drank until they were full. Later that night, they broke up to go and enjoy their new pets again.

Over the next month they developed a routine. They investigated what they had and looked around the area. There was no one around anywhere. They did notice a couple of interesting things. The armory was almost completely empty, and the bar was also almost empty.

Logan wasn't happy about that. "Look, I am disappointed the armory wasn't as it normally is, but, more importantly, what that means to us. Someone did exactly what I would have done. Take the guns, booze, and machine parts. There is another silo still operating in the area. They probably did what we did, but didn't care about these poor bastards. At least we put them out of their misery."

Voss laughed. "Well, most of them anyway."

"Yeah, except some valuable pieces of ass for a long, cold winter in Montana."

"This is what we are going to do. We are going to sit here and get ready for anything that might happen. We are in no hurry. If they don't come back, we can look for them at our leisure. For now, summer is coming, and we need to get this place set up the way we want to."

Over the next couple of months, they moved things in front of the gates. They took inventories of everything they had: Fuel, food, electricity capacity, whatever armament left over.

Once they had everything in order, they relaxed in the beautiful weather and enjoyed their toys. Life was good.

By June, they had been here nearly five months. They had neither seen nor heard from anyone since arriving at the base. If command was still in existence, they would have heard by now. They were pretty sure they were

alone, except for whomever stole the items from the base. It had to be another silo. They knew what to take and where it was.

Logan ordered an inventory of food stuff and power. When they were finished, they gathered.

"We don't have enough food to last the winter. The power may run out."

Logan nodded. "We have no choice but to find the others. We may be able to combine forces. Or, they may have things we want."

Logan went to the command center. The communications had been silent ever since the comet. He wanted to start calling the silos until he found one that answered.

He got to silo 06 on the fourth try.

"Malmstrom to silo 06, Malmstrom to silo 06, Over."

No one at the ranch had been monitoring the radios or computers for a while now. No one head the crackle of the radio for several minutes. Wally was in the kitchen and heard it finally. He went to find Rick.

"Rick, the radio is calling."

That brought the entire ranch to a stop. Rick asked Wally what they had said.

"Malmstrom to silo 06."

This was the moment he had been wondering if it would come. Now it has, and he is not sure he wants to answer. On the other hand, someone is now at the base. It is unlikely to be command, since the command channel has been silent since the first and only call.

Rick decided to answer. "Silo 06 to Malmstrom. Silo 06 to Malmstrom. Over."

Silence.

Logan quietly jumped for joy. 06 wasn't too far away, just the valley over. They could reach it by helicopter easily. They now knew who had all the guns. They would have to be clever and tricky.

"Good to hear your voice, 06. This is Colonel Preston. To whom am I speaking?"

"This is Major Richard Core."

"Major, great to hear from you. How are you getting along? We are slowly getting everything here back together. We are going to send a chopper over to check on you. Understood?"

Rick grunted. "Understood, over and out."

Everyone started talking at once until Rick stopped them. "Quiet. We have a problem."

Susan asked, "What was problem?"

"That was not Colonel Preston."

Everyone went into the living room to talk. "I know that wasn't Preston. So, who is it? My guess would be one of the other silos. There is one close to the base and I am sure they had vehicles to drive over. If that is Logan's group, we will have to defend ourselves. They are a bunch of cutthroats." Rick had a run-in with Logan. Of course, almost everyone has had a run-in with Logan.

"We are not welcoming them. We will have to fight them. I want to put sentries in the loft of the barn. They will come in chopper, thinking we are all buddies. Everyone will have radios. They had eight men, just like we did, normally. We were staffed heavier because of our assignment. They were just told to sit tight and wait. They probably got bored and went to find out what was happening. Bill, what did they see when they arrived?"

"Pretty much what I told you. Some men wandering around. Most in one of the buildings, confused."

"They probably eliminated the wanderers and took over their base. Now, their food is beginning to run out, and they are looking for more."

Susan nodded. "I am sure that is correct. Logan is an evil asshole. I am sure he would be coming to take charge and plunder the place."

"Let's look at our position.

We know who he is, and what he is. He has no idea that we are on to him.

We have the armory from the base. I am sure he knows that.

He thinks we are still at the silo. If he misses us the first time, we will be ready when he comes back by.

He will try to con us into a false sense of security.

We will shoot to kill the first opportunity we have."

Susan held up her hand. "Do you mean, kill in cold blood?"

"Unfortunately, yes. They will be armed, and they will shoot. The advantage we have is we know how many they have, and they don't know how many of us there are. I understand the difficulty of what I am asking. No one will have to participate if they choose not to. It will be a purely voluntary decision that won't affect anything going forward."

Bill stood up. "I know this man. He is a heartless bastard. He would shoot any of us given half the chance. I was in Iraq. I can shoot. I will be in the loft."

Rick nodded. "Okay, do we have anyone else?"

Lawanda stood up. "I was in Iraq. I was a sniper. I will be with Bill."

"I'm not sure I want you in the loft..." One look into Lawanda's eyes stopped him in mid-sentence. "Okay, I'm sorry. You it is."

Ray was staring at Lawanda. He guessed they would have something to talk about."

"Okay. When we see the chopper go by towards the silo, we will need someone to hide in the field. Someone will need to get the pilot when Logan comes out to talk to us. Someone will need to go with him for the crewmember that will cover from the chopper. That is two men."

Doug stood up. "I can do that."

Jesus was up almost as fast as Doug. "I'm security here. If Lawanda can do her job, so can I."

Rick smiled. He liked this crew. They were willing to do the hard things. "One more thing. I believe they will see our crops when they are heading to the

silo and will stop here. We will need advanced warning to get Doug and Jesus time to get in position."

Bobby has been one of the men that were riding the boundaries for security. He spoke up. "I can ride out to the little cave on the side of the mountain a mile out. I can take a radio with me and call in before they get in sight. That should give them time to get under the straw wagon sitting in the field. "

The plan was complete. The little cave was a place where he had taken refuge during a sudden thunderstorm earlier. He knew he could hide his horse and be out of sight.

Rick figured they would come soon, maybe first thing in the morning. If they wanted to go on a straight-out assault, they would come during the dark hours. If they were coming for a con, they would come in the morning.

Logan wanted to get this over with. He didn't know who was there, or what they had, but he needed to know. He knew they had most of the armory from the base. That included some big guns. They had guns from the helicopters. He would have to have his helicopter guns hidden. If he came in with gunners in place, it would be war. They needed to get close.

Logan gathered his men together. "Here is the plan. I will fly the chopper and take three of you with me. We will have the guns in the back, but not in sight. Lt. Watson, you will come with me. Voss, you are in charge here. I will call you when we are on our way back. The four of us will try and negotiate some sort of peace. If you don't hear from me, you know it went bad and prepare for the worst."

They had their plan. They were going to try and get them to let their guard down as compatriots. If not, they would open the guns up and take the silo.

They took off just before dawn. They hoped the others hadn't had time to plan a response. So, they wanted to go now. He had Watson and two gunners with him.

Bobby had fixed a bag to sit out the night in the cave. He also brought a big gun. Just before dawn, he heard the unmistakable sound of a helicopter. He called it in. "They're coming. I can hear them. Two miles out."

Rick responded. "Understood. Keep an eye out and let us know when they pass you."

"Understood and out."

Rick sent the two men to the wagon to hide. They would need to get the pilot and the covering gunner. Rick would be a dead duck unless they were neutralized.

"Passing me now."

Rick called out. "Everyone on alert."

Logan was heading down the middle of the valley toward the silo. The maps in the commander's office had shown Logan where 06 was located. As he came down the valley, he saw a large ranch in the middle of the valley. It was huge and he looked it over. They had crops in the field. He had to admire them. They had moved out of the silo and built a life for themselves. Logan wanted it. This would be a great place to bring his herd of women and live out his days fucking whatever, whenever.

Logan brought the chopper in and landed in the large yard in front of a big barn. He saw two men with handguns on their hips come walking toward them.

Logan and Watson got out and began walking toward the two men. His other two men were hiding behind the door with the two machine guns, ready to cut the house down to size if necessary.

Doug and Jesus started crawling toward the chopper. It was fifty yards away and it would take a few minutes. Doug hoped Rick could stall them long enough.

Bill and Lawanda had the two men from the chopper in their sights. As soon as they heard the gunfire from the chopper, they would cut these two down. Lawanda would take the one on the right, Watson, and Bill would take the one on the left. He looked like the leader, and he was.

When Logan got close enough, he recognized Rick. "Core, is that you? Long time no see. I'm impressed with what you've done in the last few months. It almost looks like home."

"So, your boys survived in the silo on the mountainside?"

Logan nodded.

"You've been living at the base the last few months. What did you do with all the walking zombies?"

Doug and Jesus had covered half the distance. Another couple of minutes they would be under the chopper.

"We put them out of their misery. All except the women, of course. They are coming in handy."

"Not surprised. It fits."
