Sydeen awoke with a start, bolting upright in a bed that was familiar but wasn't hers. She looked around the very masculine room for Karye, only to find he wasn't there. He had, however, left her a small white robe stretched out at the foot of the overly large bed. The thought was kind and would have made her smile if it weren't for the one thought that pinged around in her head.
She had fallen asleep...
Not only that but she had felt comfortable doing it in a bed that wasn't her own. Her kind didn't need much sleep as it was and though Sydeen was, in fact, a half breed, she could still stay awake for days without needing much sleep. She often struggled to fall asleep without help because of an ability to hear the ether that most Chaos demons possessed. On even her best day, the whispers and cries of the ether were at least a muted hum. So the fact that the noise hadn't bothered her at all that night and it still wasn't bothering her was odd.
The thought that Karye might have done something to her occurred to her but only for a moment. She knew her body very well and aside from the pleasant tenderness of her sex and the slight ache in her thighs, nothing was amiss. She also remembered every exquisite detail of the night before and nothing strange had happened.
Sydeen decided to tuck the thought away to investigate later. Instead, she stilled, mentally reaching inside of herself to open her mystic mind's eye. To her surprise, she was met with an aura that was painfully white and dominated most of the other room. The source seemed to be situated in Karye's kitchen. She could see where it touched hers, undulating and caressing like it was familiar and belonged with it. She shifted her inner gaze and found two more auras in the living room. Sydeen pushed deeper into herself until she could hear their hushed conversation as if she were sitting in the room with them.
"I bet both me sacks he's not just been busy cause of work." One of the men said. He was much shorter than the other but almost twice as large. His red hair was kept short, jutting out all over his head in messy spikes and he had very full facial hair. "It's because he's got a lay and he's hidin' it, " the shorter man continued.
"Well...as much as I hate to admit it, I think you are right. Maybe if you weren't so rude about it, he'd be more willing to tell us." The taller man said. He was rail thin and kept his hair slicked back into a tight ponytail. Both men had very different accents. Sydeen couldn't help but wonder how they knew each other and Karye.
"The real question for all the' money is if he' got a lad or lass back there." The shorter man grinned wide and wiggled his bushy brows. The taller man simply rolled his eyes. However, before he could respond, a loud thunk interrupted him.
"I would really love it if you two could visit another time." A very familiar voice said from the kitchen. Sydeen's inner eye whipped around back to the kitchen. That massive aura that was still caressing hers had come from Karye. "I really don't think my mother wants a report on my sex life, " he grumbled as he skillfully chopped up veggies and other fixings.
"Well, she does want you to have an heir so this is actually very important." The taller male said, looking over the back of the couch. His eyes suddenly grew wide and he smacked the short man on his shoulder. "Ferguson, do you see that?"
"Aye, I do. Looks like our boy has himself a spy." The shorter man growled as he slowly climbed to his feet. Somehow the two men had spotted her. She let out a small startled squeak as Ferguson charged the bedroom door. Her inner self snapped back to where it belonged like a rubber band pulled past its tension. The room tilted slightly as Ferguson burst through the door with the other two men fast on his heels.
Sydeen quickly covered herself with the blanket as the shorter man pulled up short. "Ah, sorry miss, " he smiled, not bothering to look away.
"Rude barbarian." The taller man said, smacking him across the eyes with one hand and covering his own with his other. "Don't mind his manners or lack thereof, " he said as Karye pulled and pushed them out of the room.
"Ah, she's at least a cute one," Ferguson beamed. Karye slammed the door shut in both of their faces. He paused with his back to her, taking deep breaths to school his annoyance. Slowly he faced her, a blush darkened his cheeks.
"I uh...sorry about those two, " he said bashfully. "Gus has no home training and I think Gal was dropped on his head as a baby."
"It's...okay. No harm was done." Sydeen was just as awkward.
They fell silent for a moment, neither knowing what to say. Finally, Sydeen cleared her throat, breaking the silence. "Do they...come here often?" She asked as she wiggled her toes under the blanket.
"They usually leave me alone as long as I check in. I was a bit distracted last night and woke up later than usual so they came by." His eyes drifted to her toes wiggling under the blanket and he couldn't help but smile. He found her fidgeting adorable and a little out of character for the Sydeen he knew.
"You...have to check in somewhere?" A confused little frown graced her brow. Karye heaved a heavy sigh and dropped his head to his hands for a moment.
"This is really embarrassing, " he groaned, "Uh...lets just say my mother is a little overprotective ever since she found my brother and me. She likes to make sure she doesn't lose us again I guess, so we or at least I check in with her every now and then. You don't check in with your folks?" Karye sighed, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
