Chapter 81: Keys to the City.

Wisp yawned and stretched herself out and as she did she felt a tight pressure all around her that made her smile warmly.

As she lifted her head she could see Malakai's still sleeping face looking super cute, this boy of hers was just super cute no matter what he was doing and watching him sleep was most definitely one of her favourite faces he pulled, most definitely the top 5.

"I know exactly how you feel Ven, sneaky bunch these humans, I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to tie this one up for my own safety before I go to sleep," Malakai said playfully as he poured Wisp a coffee while stroking her neck with his mandibles and making her shiver.

"And you think that's going to stop me from mauling you? Hell, that's going to make me want to do it even more, hmmm now I wonder if I can make your spinnerets work while you're asleep?" Wisp shot back playfully making Malakai freeze up for a moment before he realised she was just teasing him.

"See what I mean?" he said shooting a smile at Ven who was chuckling and nodding.

Moment's later both Passa and Shepherd emerged from their room and by the ruffled look of Passa's feather's he hadn't escaped a morning mauling either though somehow both of them had managed to be quiet enough to fly their passion under the radar.

Passa looked at both Ven and them Malakai and a bit of a lop-sided smile crossed his face, "You too huh?" he said and they both grinned at him.

"Sneaky humans," the trio said in perfect unison.

"Hey it's one of the many reasons you love us and don't even try to pretend you don't," Shepherd said leaning up on her tiptoes to pull Passa down into a deep kiss by his horns.

"She's got a point you know," Malakai said and Ven just laughed and nodded.

"Alright, so what's the plan for today?" Malakai asked.

"Well just like we told them yesterday we are going back to the city only this time you boys don't have to stay here, you can wait at the gates if you want, it'll give you all a chance to chat with Diamond city security and get to know them as well as giving them a chance to know you all better, after our actions yesterday I'm pretty sure we have some serious points with them given that half if not their entire force owe us their lives," Wisp said stroking Malakai's yellow leg and relishing the softness of his fur.

"Yeah and hopefully one day we'll be able to walk right on in through those gates without a care in the world just like anyone else would," Malakai said taking a sip from his own cup of coffee as the others around the table nodded.

"But honestly I'm proud of our actions yesterday because not only did we show them what true interspecies cooperation looks like but we showed them the value and strength of it," Shepherd said.

"Yeah and it seems that this vision of Seven's is really starting to gain traction, I never in my life would have believed that it would be possible for Claws and humans to not only co-exist peacefully but to fall in love with one another and live happily, but here I am and look at what we have achieved together," Passa said happily as he took a big bite out of his breakfast.

"You and me both sugar tail, if someone had told me only six months ago that I'd be bouncing my black ass all over a Claw like he's going to disappear like smoke in a breeze if I'm not quick I'd have laughed then locked them up for fear that they'd got into the Jet again but now they haven't created a wrecking bar big enough to pry me off this beautiful man," Shepherd said stroking Passa's wings and shoulders before sliding happily into his lap and taking the fork from him so she could feed him instead.

"And this is exactly what Seven said could happen if only we gave it a chance, I'll be fair I was pretty fucking dubious myself when he began to talk about it but after I saw him with Visa and things began to snowball between them faster than a Claw on Roller-skates trying to go down a steep hill I just couldn't help but wonder what if it was me?" Wisp said and then Malakai's mandibles ruffled her hair playfully.

"And now it is you," he said proudly and happily.

"Exactly and that's my point, all we have to do is keep doing what we are already doing, helping people to see that there is a different way, I mean look what we did yesterday, we proved to those people that not only were we, not a threat but that we could defend them, we keep this up and pretty soon a lot of hearts and minds will change, a new dawn is breaking people all we have to do is keep it going, so while the girls and I get stuck into the city today you boys stand outside and look handsome as fuck, think about it this will be the first time any of these people has really had a chance to be up close with a Claw or an Arachnakai without the threat of being eaten, so curiosity will be burning bright," Wisp said.

"Pretty sure the only human who has to worry about being eaten by Malakai is the one currently trying to rub the fur off his leg and its probably not so much a worry but more something she actively seeks out," Shepherd said with a grin and while Malakai did his trademark blush Wisp grinned right back at her.

"Ever get some of that from a boy with mandibles?" she asked and Shepherd shook her head to which Wisp widened her smile, "Thought not," she said smugly.

"Don't need 'em, Claw boy here has a tongue as long as my arm," Shepherd shot back and Wisp laughed as Passa joined Malakai in the blushing department.

"Don't worry cousin you'll get used to your human shouting your virtues from the rooftops soon enough," Ven said patting his cousin on the shoulder to which he got a weak smile in return.

About an hour later the group were headed back to Diamond city though this time rather than skulk in shadows the simply walked right up to the doors, humans and non-humans shoulder to shoulder, or in Wisp and Malakai's case arse to arse as she was riding on his abdomen.

When they arrived Diamond city security came out to look at them, Wisp instantly recognised the chief from yesterday and he smiled and waved at them as the others around him looked on nervously.

"Stand down young ones these guys are good people and yeah you heard me right, they are all people, this is the group that pulled our arses out of the fire yesterday when those big green fuckers decided to launch an all-out assault on us, if it wasn't for these guys right here we most likely wouldn't be here, or we'd be under siege and trapped in the city like rats right now," he said.

"Good to see you again Chief how's tricks?" Wisp said jumping down off Malakai's back as he glanced up at the high walls of the city and she could instantly see him judging the jumping distance in his pretty head, he always tended to do this when he was on the ground but surrounded by high places.

"Still good thanks to you lot, took us a good few hours to get those bright green fuckers out of here and three times as long to get the fucking smell out of our clothes, we dumped the bodies out in the forest by the railway, hopefully, some Yao guai or some roaming Claws might have a use for em, or maybe they'll serve as a message to any more of the big gree fucks that think about coming here," he said with a shrug.

"I doubt any self-respecting Claw would ever eat super mutant, if they taste as bad as they smell it would be like eating your own shit, though I do at least know two sentients that know what personal hygiene is," Ven said with a smile which widened as some of the new security officer's eyes widened at the presence of a talking Deathclaw.

"Before anyone of you points out the obvious yes he can talk, his name is Ven and there is Passa both of the proud Northern pack and you are to treat them like anyone else, him too, his name is Malakai and he's an Archnakai," the chief said pointing to the three and making Ven puff up with pride.
