Alice sat in the control tower of the Facility's airdrome, scanning the distant horizon. Behind her, to the west, the sun was lowering in the sky. The regular jungle sounds of a Novo-Brazilian day were starting to transition into night and even through the sound-proof glass, a fresh cacophony of noise was audible.
A small dot appeared in the sky to the north east. Tamara was right on time. As it grew nearer, the private jet banked to gradually align with the runway. The low sunlight winked from its wing as it descended for the return landing.
The speakers crackled. "It's getting late here, do you still need me, boss?" Rebecca's voice came strongly over the connetion.
Alice bend towards the microphone. "Yes, stay on the line. If half of what you just told me is true then I'll be bringing a party over to Greece, but I'd like the rest of the team to hear it directly from you. Tamara is landing now, so we should be ready in ten."
"No problem, Alice. Standing by."
Alice flicked a few switches and spoke again into the microphone before her. "All hands, please report to the Meeting Room." She flicked off the mic, checked herself in the glass and headed down there herself.
Minutes later, all the hands had gathered in the Meeting Room. Generally, it was a break room, but as it came with the largest TV screen in the building it also doubled as their cinema and meeting place. With Becka away in Greece, Lupe who knew where and Tamara just flying in, 'All hands' had in reality translated into...Kat. The big Russian radiated boredom, but to be fair, she always did.
"I suppose you're wondering what this is about, Kat," Alice perched on a table edge, "Miss Knight is currently investigating reports of increased orgone levels on Kofos, one of the Aegean islands. These types of readings have previously only been found in one other place on the planet."
"Here?" asked Kat.
"Spot on," replied Alice, "Now, also the reports spoke of a dark and terrifying creature."
"Lupe?" asked Kat.
Alice shot the Russian a look. Kat was smart enough to shut up. "Some kind of flaming horse that was terrorizing local villages and their womenfolk. Rebecca went over to see what she could find out and I've got her on the line."
Alice flicked on the desktop microphone and speakers. Rebecca's face appeared slightly pixelated on the screen behind. "Rebecca, can you hear us?"
"Receiving you."
"Can you fill us in please, Miss Knight?"
Becka's voice crackled slightly over the speakers. "Naturally. You're not going to believe this, but I've spoken to a couple of the village locals who witnessed this large creature running through the streets. They also swear that it had a horn on."
"You mean that this horse was, physically aroused?"
"No, I mean that the horse actually had a horn on its head."
"What are you saying?"
"They're saying that this thing was, well, I guess it is, a unicorn."
Kat covered the mic and faced Alice. Her face did 'incredulous' very well, "I think the sexy yoga, it turn her mind to mush."
Alice batted the Russian's hand away from the mic, "Are you sure?" asked Alice.
"They say that it has appeared twice during the night in the past week. In each case, a young lady was the target. Both of whom were prominent in the local Catholic church. On that basis it also seems to target virtuous young ladies."
"We may be in trouble then," Alice replied. "Are you saying that we need to find a virgin in order to get close to it?"
"It appears that way, boss."
Alice performed a rapid mental stock-take. Kat, Rebecca, herself. No deal. She had seen the others 'in action', as it were, usually while whole-heartedly engaging in similar actions herself. She was a long way off from being a virgin, she noted ruefully, a long, long way off, both in time elapsed and in the number of, heh, incidents.
Tamara entered the Meeting Room, still wearing her flight uniform. She glanced around, smiling brightly, "Howdy, y'all."
Alice grinned, "Tamara! Good timing!"
**********
Alice sat behind Tamara as she piloted the jet, with Kat sitting to Alice's right.
"Now, let me get this arrow straight," Tamara spoke ahead, focused on her instrumentation. She sounded pissed, "You want me to act as bait for a super horny, supernatural horse?"
"You are the best qualified here," replied Alice, "the rest of us are not exactly in 'mint condition', so to speak."
"This is nonsense," replied Tamara, "We've only got Lady Midnight's word to go on and she's probably inhaled way too many patchouli fumes."
"That what I say," added Kat.
"Both of you listen. She's reporting stratospheric orgone levels around this village, which is also the reason why we're here in Novo Brazilia."
"Does anyone actually know what 'orgone' is?" asked Tamara.
Alice was nonplussed. "Not really, but I know myself and I know when something is making me horny. Now, something out here around the mountain is making everyone and everything constantly horny. Can we agree on that at least?"
Kat and Tamara nodded.
"Now, imagine if we can find the cause of it. Imagine, if we could help loveless couples rediscover their lost desires. Imagine how many wars we could stop if we can help love conquer all, how much happiness we could spread. More importantly, imagine how much people will pay for this! And so, if we can investigate this incident, we might find a clue to help us understand what's happening around our base, because we've all just agreed that something is definitely up."
"Da, horse's-cock," grunted Kat. Alice shot her bodyguard a warning look, "As usual, Miss Igonova, not helping."
Tamara's gaze stayed locked on the horizon, "Say I do this. You'll protect me?"
Alice nodded, "Trust me dear, we'll step in and capture any nasty creatures before things get ugly."
Kat patted at her shoulder holster, "Enough tranqs in here to stop horny Russian bear."
"And how would you know that?" questioned Tamara.
