Koshka's day started as usual. She woke up early in her room, which was a cell, but it was still better than the one she had had before joining the Crypt Commando.
She needed time to comb her long, silky, white hair properly.
Then, she heard the now-familiar beep from the door, which meant that somebody wanted to talk to her.
"You have a visitor, Koshka," came a voice from the door's speaker.
"I'm not at home, come back tomorrow," she rolled her eyes.
As a response, a portal opened near the door, and a familiar person walked through it.
"Good morning, Aritimi," Koshka said with a visible forced smile and a glare.
"I got no time for chit-chat. Just put on this and follow me," Aritim said. She then gave her a metal collar, the type that could teleport her back into her cell if needed.
Reluctantly, she obeyed and closed the collar around her neck, then stepped into the portal.
On the other side of the portal, Koshka found herself inside a huge van with Aritimi and three other people. She recognized the one in the middle, Zara.
"Seriously?" Zara snapped at Aritimi, "She was your best idea?"
"We don't have the luxury of having too many options," Aritimi said.
"Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on? Right now!" Koshka demanded, the confines of the van making her feel more trapped than ever.
"Yes, I think you should explain the situation, Timi," said the older woman beside Zara.
"Okay," Aritimi nodded, "Start with the introductions."
"She is my friend, Naomi Lewis. She is the chief of the HSA's Law Enforcement Unit," Aritimi introduced the older woman.
Naomi was wearing her immaculate police officer uniform. Koshka could barely see any of her skin aside from her face, but what she saw was almost as pale as hers.
"The HSA have cops?"
"We have a unit that helps the authorities deal with crimes where monsters are involved. Such things like monster trafficking and using monsters as tools and allies for crimes," Naomi answered. She looked stressed, but not because of Koshka.
"You already know Zara, so let's skip her," Aritimi pointed at the last new person, "She is another one of my pupils, Olympia Angelopoulos."
"Hi!" she said to Koshka and stood up from her chair. She was big.
Olympia was true to her name and looked like someone who could get all the gold medals in any type of Olympic Games. She was 190 cm tall (6'3") and built like a Greek statue with insane muscle definition. Her tank top and shorts exposed her biceps, abs, and quads, which were ridiculously sculpted. Her skin had a bronze tan, like a bodybuilder in a competition. Her platinum blonde hair was tied into a high ponytail. She wasn't as absurdly muscular as Urszula, but she was way more muscle-bound than an average woman.
She grabbed Koshka's chitin-clad hand and gave her a firm shake. Much stronger than a normal human, she thought.
"Okay, and why am I here with you, Zara, the cop, and this bronze behemoth?"
"We need some help from a monster," Naomi replied, "I mean, we need your assistance."
"Get to the point, please. I don't plan to waste the whole day on you," Koshka tapped on her wrist as if she were wearing a watch.
"It's about my daughter," Naomi answered, "Her name is Naiomi, and she is working in my unit."
"A few hours ago, we were helping Naomi with catching some monster smugglers when we got a call," Aritimi continued, "Her daughter was captured by the PRA."
"What does the Paperwork Reduction Act have to do anything with this?" Koshka chuckled.
"Stop kidding! You know it stands for Paranormal Rights Activists," Aritimi hissed.
"Sheesh, you guys should learn to relax," Koshka shrugged, "By the way. Yes, I know who these guys are. They are ugly, stupid losers who want to fuck monsters because humans don't want them. They pretend to be some kind of activists, but in reality, they are just some weirdos."
"Naiomi was in the middle of an investigation involving them when we lost contact with her. She is still held captive by them," Naomi said.
"Are you sure it's not just the shitty human technology?" Koshka looked at her.
"No. Twelve hours ago, this video was posted on the PRA's website," Naomi showed her a video on her phone.
The only visible thing in it was a young woman's plump ass with a big dick pistoning in and out of it.
"Nice ass but what does it mean?" Koshka asked, still looking at the video.
"That's Naiomi. I can recognize that birthmark above her butt," Naomi pointed at the screen, her voice thick with concern, "They sent it to taunt us."
"Okay. And how the fuck I could help you?" Koshka asked.
"Look, I've heard a few of the information that you gave as an exchange for better treatment in the Crypt. You had a past with the PRA," Aritimi replied.
"Yeah, when I was weaker, I used some of their hideouts to stay hidden from the HSA, but I ditched them once I was strong enough to survive alone," Koshka revealed.
"Then use your connection to help us find Naiomi," Naomi pleaded.
"I have connections no more. One, as I told you, I ditched them long ago. Two, after I was captured, I sang like a canary and ratted out everyone I remembered. The HSA knows about the hideouts I knew about," Koshka said, shaking her head.
"They are still active, and some of the people weren't caught yet. Maybe you should try to reach out to them," Naomi offered.
"I ratted out everyone. They don't know about it?" Koshka asked.
"No, we kept our informant's identity a secret. The HSA is good at censoring information," Aritimi responded.
"But I'm in your database. They know I was captured."
"No. Information on you and your species is only accessible to HSA employees right now. Nothing is public about you, yet," Aritimi shook her head.
"Okay, one more question then. Why the fuck I should help you?" Koshka grinned smugly.
"You'd get something in return, of course," Aritimi added.
"I want the HSA to make non-lethal methods mandatory for the Pest Control Unit. They are killing too many of my kin," Koshka answered immediately.
"Hmmm, in this case, I got an offer. You will allow the research team to take samples from you, and then we can give it a try," Aritimi replied.
"Why should I allow more samples? It took a while to regenerate that eye I gave your sister. I don't heal as fast as other monsters."
"Look, if we can give the Pest Control Unit's hunters the power you have over bugs, then they will be able to make them go away without using violence."
"Okay, fine. I'll help," Koshka nodded.
