Friday
Jennifer slowly yawned. She was lying on a sofa in what looked like a library or study. She remembered headed out to her truck after work but nothing more. She didn't know where she was or how she got here. She slowly got up just as a man walked into the room. He was an older man in a grey suit. He wasn't very tall but he walked with strength.
"Ah, you are awake miss." He said.
"And where am I and who are you?" She wasn't very happy not knowing where she was.
"Mr. Ammon would like to ask if you would join him for lunch."
He ignored her question all together she noticed. She was getting angry. "I have no intention of staying here on minute more than I have to. Now show me the door and I will leave!"
"Miss I can not do that until Mr. Ammon says. He has instructed me to tell you that he will explain during lunch, which will be ready in about fifteen minutes. There is a bathroom through that door there if you wish to freshen up." He pointed to a door behind her.
When she turned around she realized that the man had left the room while she was looking the other way. Jennifer walked up to the door and tried to open it. It was locked. "Figures. I don't like this at all." She had no idea what was going on. She looked around the room. There were a several books. On any other occasion she would have loved this room, but not at the moment. There were no windows in the room and only two doors. The one that was locked and the bathroom door. She went to the bathroom and there was a window, but when she looked out she realized she was on the second floor. Not an easy way out but possible. When she tried the window it opened but she heard voiced below and decided that it wouldn't work if there were people outside. She would have to wait. She decided to freshen up and see what this was all about.
When she returned to the main room she went to the book case and began looking at the books. There were many different topics. Even law books and medical books. Nothing to really tell her who this Mr. Ammon was. She began to wonder what happened. She remembered leaving her job out the back door and getting to her truck door and then opening the door but that was the last thing she could remember. Everything else was a blank.
She heard the door open and turned to look. It was the same older man. He was smiling at her. She couldn't bring herself to smile in return. "If you will follow me miss."
She didn't like not knowing this old man and calling him 'hey you' didn't seem right. "What is your name?" she asked.
"I am Tony miss."
"Well Tony, since I do not seem to have any option in all this lead the way, I guess." She thought also that she could see if there was another way out while he led the way.
Tony led her down the hallway only a short ways though. Three doors down from where she had been. It was a smaller room with a small table near a fireplace. Inside stood a man looking at the fire. He was tall with dark black hair hanging down to the middle of his back. "You may leave us Tony." His voice was deep and rich. When he turned around Jennifer couldn't help but wonder where he was from. He wasn't overly muscled but still well proportioned for a man so tall. His eyes were a deep dark chocolate. Who was this man and why does he want to see me? She thought.
Ammon looked at the woman before him. He knew she was forty one. She was 5'3" he gauged. She had dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was angry as well. He could see it in her face. She was very lovely he thought. "Good evening Miss Frost, my name is Ammon Ammon. I am pleased to meet you."
"Why am I here?" she asked.
Ammon knew he could not tell her the reason but she did need an explanation. "You are in no danger here. You are my guest for the weekend. I promise you may return home on Sunday if you so choose."
"That does not tell me why you brought me here or how for that matter." She remembered leaving work and walking out to her truck and getting in, but she couldn't remember how she had gotten here at all. This man whom she did not know was telling her she was safe and a part of her did believe that. For now she decided to go with her gut feelings.
There was a table full of food before her. There was a set of glass doors leading out onto a balcony. There was also the fireplace that Ammon was standing in front of. The food looked like Italian parmesan chicken with garlic bread and pasta. She liked Italian food and she was hungry.
"Would you join me for a bit to eat? I am sure you are hungry."Ammon asked.
Jennifer sat down and Ammon sat across from her. She didn't trust him. She knew he could be dangerous. She could see it in his eyes. She couldn't put her finger on it but she knew he could be. Yet a part of her knew that it was safe to be here as well. "Are you going to tell me why I am here?"
Ammon couldn't help but like this woman. He knew several things about her but he hadn't known her strength till now. She was angry, yet also unsure of what was going on. "I promise you will have your answers before the end of the weekend."
Before she could ask anything else a woman in a tight fitting red dress walked in from the balcony. She had long pale blonde hair and green eyes. She was stunning. What would this man want with her with a woman like this around, Jennifer wondered.
"Do I have to keep watching over him? He is getting on my nerves."
"I told you he would get upset now deal with it." Ammon told her. I am having lunch with Ms. Frost. I will take care of him afterwards, no go."
Jennifer could hear the command in his voice. She was right he had a great deal of power. She also suspected he was stronger than he looked. The woman turned to leave but not before she looked at Jennifer. There was real anger in her eyes for Jennifer. Something about the woman made her think she was related to Ammon. "You could go and take care of whatever you need to. I can eat alone." She offered.
"No, it is not your fault. Some of the ones around here just need to learn patience. Please enjoy the meal. I know I am enjoying the company for a change." He found that what he told her was true. He did like her company. He was beginning to wonder if he would be able to let her go to Lynn after all. Something about this woman was drawing him closer. He didn't get close to very many including his own kind. There were less than a handful that he called friend and one of them wanted this woman badly. Yet he was dead to her. Would the truth make her run. He wasn't sure but he knew he had less time than he thought.
The two of them returned to eating their meal. It was very tasty, Jennifer thought. She loved to cook and enjoyed a good meal. It was chicken parmesan as she had thought. She preferred grilled chicken but this was fried like most prepared it.
