Gypsy woke refreshed for the first time in a long time but within seconds she remembered her resolve to find a place of her own so as not to disturb Caydn in his own home with her bizarre tendencies that'd always driven a wedge between her and having a normal life.
He'd asked to view her sketches later that day. So far she'd not done a single one. So to keep from looking like a total fool she needed to sit down and put some of the ideas she kept locked in her head on paper.
Wandering down stairs her sketch book under her arm she made a pot of coffee before sitting at the island. Closing her eyes she envisioned the coat she'd was creating the patchwork fabric for. The charcoal pencil moved along the lines she created in her mind while she waited for the coffee to finish brewing.
Opening her eyes she heard the final surge of the coffee maker. On the paper was the long flowing coat. The cut showed simplicity of the design so not to over power the already complex fabric, deep jewel toned fabrics from rich velvets to rough textured brocades all trimmed and joined with a twisted gold and black braid.
Pouring a mug of coffee and buttering the English muffins she'd popped in the toaster she sat back down to envision her next piece while she ate breakfast. By the time she finished her second mug of coffee she had five laid out in front of her filling her with a sense of pride seeing them in a visual form for the first time.
Heading upstairs and throwing on a pair of jeans and long sleeved tee shirt, grabbing her purse she headed downstairs and out so she could do some shopping, hoping she had time that evening to do her Tia Chi routine, maybe she'd be able to sleep better at night.
Having done a search of the area she easily found the first fabric store she was looking for, within an hour she went back to the SUV with three large bags of fabric and accessories before heading for the next stop then planning on stopping by the hospital before heading home.
Walking down the hall she knocked on door 312, smiling when she heard Sophie tell her to come in.
"Gypsy I'm so glad you came to see us!" Sophie laughed getting up she hugged the niece that was like a daughter to she and Vince.
"Did the two of you think I was just going to move in and not even bother coming to see the graceful one here," she said shaking her head with a huge smile walking around the side of the bed to hug Vince tightly.
"I guess you and I are going to have to sit down and have that same talk you had with me when I thought jumping off the roof into the pool was a good idea," she laughed, "We don't fly as well as all those lovely song birds do that visit the feeders every day," she chuckled her hands on her hips reciting the lecture Vince had given her when she was a little girl and thought she could imitate the birds and fly.
Sophie sat down heavily in the chair looking at her husband with loving eyes before closing them with a sigh.
"Gypsy I don't think I'll ever forget seeing him fall," she said with a frown. "He didn't think he was a bird he thought he was superman I think. He tried to tell me he was fine and as soon as he got done fixing the lose gutter then he'd let me take him to the emergency room to be checked out," she glared at Vince who had the sense to blush.
"Sophie don't get so worked up, I didn't know I'd broken everything I had I thought I was bruised and you know me I hate leaving a job half done," Vince reached for her hand giving it a gentle squeeze.
Sophie turned back to Gypsy. "So tell me dear how it's been at the house since Caydn decided to take up residence again?" she asked glancing at Vince who was watching Gypsy carefully for her reply.
Sitting there looking between the two of them she caught swirling thoughts and the exchange of looks making her wonder what was not being said. Shaking her head she laughed.
"Well last night I've got to say was fun," she giggled when Vince's eye brows shot to his receding hair line. "Caydn came in from some event, and we had a ridiculous discussion about how women's cologne tastes since he came in smelling rather strong. I apparently insulted him when I told him he should try something less over powering and feminine if he wanted to wear cologne," she explained.
"But dear he doesn't wear cologne never has for as long as I've known him," Sophie said glancing at Vince who nodded in agreement.
Gypsy rolled her eyes laughing harder remembering Caydn looking just as serious as they were at the moment. "I know that now but I think he told me that only after I asked if he'd made it a habit of licking the throats, wrists and cleavage of his associate's wives," she giggled uncontrollably when Sophie gasped in shock covering her mouth.
"Don't worry he wasn't offended and even told me he hoped I laughed hard enough my stomach muscles punished for making fun of him," she said trying to gain control of herself. "I've got to say that was a more light hearted conversation than the one we had when he realized I was answering questions before he'd asked," she dropped her eyes glancing at Vince sheepishly. "I wasn't doing it intentionally he was just 'thinking' rather loudly and it was impossible for me to ignore him," she explained.
Vince squeezed Sophie's hand gently clearing his throat. "I know you didn't do it intentionally dear you've never been one to use the skills and gifts you have to eavesdrop, but I doubt you've ever met someone with many of the same gifts," he explained.
"How did that conversation go?" Sophie asked.
