Raindrops splashed heavily against the windows, Liam and his mother was in the hospitable waiting to see Doctor Harvey he looked to his mother's worried face he was worried too, Liam always hated hospital it's just the feeling of the place it was always bad in his mind if they needed to go there it was never for a good reason.
"Mrs. Bourne to see Doctor Harvey, he's ready in his office down the hall," A speaker said sounding like a woman's voice.
"Come on Liam let hope it's good news," said his mother.
He nodded and both got up and made there down the hallway doors with signs saying different doctors names on them, the hallway was cold and lifeless he hope this wouldn't take long him and his family have been through enough shit already they came to a door with a sign saying 'Doctor Harvey' this is whom they needed to see.
The heavy wooden door opened and a middle age man with brown hair and a moustache was there to let them in, he also had big rectangle glasses, they entered and the Doctor went back behind his desk and both Liam and his mother sat down on two chairs, Liam took a look round his office it was clean and tidy, his shelve was filled with pictures of perverse patients and awards for his hard work.
"Mrs. Bourne how have you been," Said the doctor.
"Not good we've had to deal with the recent passing of my father, we were at his funeral a few days ago but thank you for asking," She said sadden but collected herself, "hows my daughter's condition doing?"
This is why they were here for Liam's little sister Abby, she's has been very sick for a long time it's been painful for the family.
She had brain cancer and she been fighting it for three years now it was cruel and unfair she was only nine years when she first got it and he was 18, they learnt that brain cancer can happen in children but it was rare, Liam will never forget the fear he felt when she suddenly passed out in the middle of the street, holding her in his arms trying to wake her, he quickly called the hospital and they told the family what was wrong, the big C every family feared, cancer.
Since then they tried everything to get rid of cancer it cost a lot of time and money if it wasn't for his grandfather she probably wouldn't have lasted this long all he wanted was to wrap his arms around his granddaughter again...it's a shame that will never happen now.
"Your daughter condition is...not...going well it's been...getting worst," the doctor said saddened he has been Abby's doctor for the last three years he quickly became a friend of the family he was one of the best that dealt with this type of thing.
Liam and his mother's hearts sank the new treatment wasn't working, they didn't want to give up maybe there was something them missed that could help Abby they had to hope and try.
"Clare this is going to be hard to say but...we tried three years now and she only getting weaker she hates those treatments maybe the best thing we should do is...let her go."
"NO, she is strong I know there something out there I won't give up on her please take a lot around maybe there something we missed we just...have to check to try...she's worth it...she's my miracle," she said beginning to cry.
Liam placed a hand on her should and she held it trying to comfort her, he was close to crying but didn't want to show if he wanted to be strong for them he had too, he needed too, the Doctor sighed.
"Ok I will have along around again but it's probably going to be expensive."
"I don't care where ever it takes...thank you, Doctor."
"Can I see Abby?" Liam asks quietly.
"I'm sorry she's sleeping right now, but you can see her later when she's more alert I'll inform the staff you'll drop by later to see her."
"Thanks, Doc."
Everyone got up both Liam and his mother shook the doctor hand and made there way out of the office, he and his mother were walking together heading to the car the rain started getting worst so they hurried.
Once they were in the safety of the car his mother broke and began to cry, Liam try to comforted her they both knew Abby hated the tests and treatment and maybe it was the best thing to let her go but she just couldn't both Liam and Abby were miracles to her and in her eyes and she wanted to keep hoping.
Liam Mother soon calmed down and she started the care they were heading to a law firm to discuss his grandfather's will, the drive was long and quite both were in there minds thinking about the terrible month they've had.
After about a ten minute drive they arrived, parking the car and heading inside both went to the desk and asked about there appointment, the woman responded that their grandfather lawyer was going through some paperwork and would be finished soon.
So both of them went to the waiting area to sit down his mother got out her phone texting her husband (Liam and Abby father) the bad news, Liam looked over and saw a poster saying 'Equal justice' showing a person in a business suit defending a crouching person in pain, he thought to himself 'where is Abby's justice for the hell she's living through' he shook his head pushing it out his mind it's cancer nobody could prevent it, it just happens.
A woman in her mid thrifty came walking towards them she had a suit on and her brown hair done neatly to give a professional look, she was his grandfather's lawyer who has been handle detail today with the will.
"Mrs. Bourne I apologize for the wait I'm ready when you are to handle details about the will you father left."
"Yes, I'm ready to let go Liam."
Soon they were all in the lawyer office, they began to talk about all the law details about the will which Liam had a hard time understanding he was never good with law-related things, they spoke for about half an hour and now she was ready to tell them what the will says.
"Ok so the will states that my daughter aka you Mrs. Bourne will inherit the remainder of his money and including any property that has been left behind he hopes the money will be used to bring happiness to his family and hopes his granddaughter recovers soon and wishes the best for you all, there is a storage unit that belongs to your father as of this will, it now belong to you," she grabs a key from her desk and passes it to Liam's mother, "this key should open the unit I will tell you where it is after we conducted our business might be a good idea to go there and have a look around before the government tries to nab any of it."
"Thank you, hope the money will help, is there anything else to discuss I will like to get to this unit and see what's there," Clare says gently playing with the key in her hand.
"Just a few things."
They continued for about ten minutes discussing more law business that Liam didn't understand it was boring and a bit interesting at the same time but he kept quiet, soon everything was cleared up and Liam and his mother was back in the car.
"So I wonder what we will find at the unit," Liam said.
"It could be anyone guesses he did love collecting strange things...still the money we got should help to pay for a new treatment for Abby...Liam can I ask you something."
"Yeah...sure mum," he looked at her waiting for her response.
"Are...are we doing the right thing...for Abby," she said sadden knowing the impact of what she is saying.
"I don't know mum...it's good were not giving up but...no were not giving up on her," he placed a hand on her shoulder, "she can beat this I know she can I believe that Harvey will find something that will work, ok mum," he said trying to give her hope.
"Yeah thanks, Liam what would I do without you," she smiled softly at him.
