The wind blew through the shattered window and the tattered curtains swayed. The old ceiling tiles were crumbling and falling to the floor as the roof leaked when it rained. The hallway floor was covered in debris from the building sitting untouched for about seventy years. Graffiti covered the inside walls as did holes from vandalism. She walked down the hallway in her boots as she looked around.
Offices still had old metal desks in them and papers covered the floors. The old desk chairs were broken or rotted away to hardly anything. The old asylum was being taken over by nature as vines covered the outside walls and were coming in through some of the windows. She snapped pictures as her camera recorded as she walked, it was attached to her tank top.
There had been many unsolved murders on the asylum property over the past ten years. Other crimes had happened also but none as severe as the triple homicide from nineteen ninety eight. Three freshly graduated teens were found dead, all females and not one suspect has ever been brought in or found in the slaying. She was going to document the findings of the property and send it to the state hoping to get the property demolished to stop all the criminal activity that has happened. Police stopped checking the asylum after a few months went by after the last incident that left one woman hospitalized.
Janet was a news reporter from the local TV news and was out to make a name for herself. No other reporter was wanting to do anything on the asylum as they thought it would curse them. Janet didn't see it that way, it was a way to bring the cold cases back into the light of the public. She was not aware of some of the other activities that had been reported and stood in the hallway as she listened to the silent stillness all around her.
Janet stood in the hallway looking around and realized she should've brought someone. She continued on her way and walked into a large room that was just falling to pieces. She looked at the floor, it had collapsed and fallen into the basement. The ceiling also had a large gaping hole in it as she took pics of it. She turned around and jumped as she saw a dark figure in front of her. She shook her head and looked again, the hallway was empty.
"Okay then Janet, calm down, nothing here but you and the old building." She said walking to the stairs and headed up to the next level.
She walked into a dark, windowless room. She turned on her flashlight and looked at the old medical equipment. She took pictures and went to the counter and looked at the old scalpels still stained with blood. She heard a loud bang behind her and she spun around. Her heart was racing as she saw nothing as she shined the flashlight around the room. She stopped and tried to slow her breathing as her heart pounded in her chest. Little did she know, she wasn't alone and he was eyeing her tan, Hispanic body.
