Jasmine pulled up to the side of small three-story motel in the shining red mustang her mate gifted to her. The gift was more for Aurora than it was for Jasmine, but she appreciated the gesture nonetheless. Jasmine sat in the parking lot for a moment in silence, gripping the steering wheel. She stared at the bracelet gifted to her by her mate. A fine tool with great sentimental value. It felt wrong to be on the driver's side, but Aurora wasn't here. Jasmine looked toward the passenger seat and felt a pang of longing seep through her. She missed her mate. Aurora and Jasmine had been separated in a city a state away. Jasmine was forced to promise Aurora she wouldn't try to contact her until she knew she was safe. Then Aurora was to meet her.
The small-town Jasmine had picked was on pack lands. Best place to avoid rogues or viscous lone wolfs. Jasmine was human, so she would have no hard time blending in until her mate arrived and they had to skedaddle. Jasmine entered the establishment and rented a room on second floor. The hotel was empty. The only person she saw was the sweet elderly woman she purchased the room from at the front desk. Jasmine didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing. That was always Aurora's place to decide.
When Jasmine reached her room, she plopped onto the bed and Facetimed her mate immediately. Her heart soared when she saw Aurora. She had long golden wavy hair and naturally tanned skin. Her lips were plump, her eyelashes long and thick, and her smile wide and bright. When Aurora smiled like that it was easy for Jasmine to forget that she had shredded men and wolves alike to pieces with that mouth.
Before Aurora, Jasmine had never been attracted to woman. She went through her teenage years constantly infatuated with one boy to the next. None ever returned her affections. Not fully. Jasmine was mousy looking. With skin as pale as a ghost and plain brunette hair. She wasn't toned with muscle nor did she have perky breast like her mate. Her whole body seemed squishy. Her butt was a jiggling bubble and her stomach, although flat, was not rock hard like her mates. She felt unworthy sometimes. Wondered how Aurora could look at her with such love and devotion when she was so plain and Aurora, herself, was perfection.
During the call, they got lost in looking at each other faces for the first time in weeks. Saying nothing and just appreciating the smiling face on their screens.
Jasmine met Aurora two years ago while visiting London. She saw her on the street and felt an abnormally strong attraction almost immediately. When Aurora eyed her, she approached Jasmine almost immediately and pulled her into a long passionate kiss. As if they were lovers reunited but considering the mating bond she guessed they were in a way. Aurora waited but only a week to tell Jasmine of the bond and how she was a werewolf. Aurora was the heir to an Alpha on business in London. She arranged for Jasmine to stay in London for a few more weeks and then they set off for Aurora's home.
When they arrived at the compound Aurora's parents were quick to want to meet their daughter's life mate, but their excited smiles turned into horrored frowns when Jasmine, a female human, stepped out of the car. It was widely known that the moon goddess would rarely, but occasionally, pair two of the same sex. Aurora's parents had thought for sure that the goddess would pair their daughter with a male with of strength enough to tame their strong and dominant daughter. Instead, she was paired with gentle and weak human female.
At first, they pretended that it was ok. That as long as their daughter was happy they would not reject the moon goddess' pairing and they didn't reject the pairing. Instead, they took is as a sign that, if their eldest daughter was not going to have an Alpha male by her side, then she was never meant to be an Alpha female. So, they passed the title of heir onto her younger brother. Enraged, hurt, and offended Aurora bought their mustang and left the pack with jasmine. They had been on the road ever since. Now, back in Jasmine's home country, the united states.
"Where?" Aurora asked Jasmine eagerly over the phone.
"Alligus, North Carolina. Tread carefully. It's pack lands." Jasmine answered and then held up her wrist to the camera. The bracelet had turn a rose gold. Aurora new what that meant. "I'm staying in Mildred's Motel."
