Massive thank you to BriM_0261 for the work he did editing this chapter of Unpaid Debts. The story can only ever be as good as it is due to his efforts.
"What do you mean? How could I possibly know that?"
Lin giggled shyly and expressed delight once more knowing something I didn't. She placed her hand on my palm. "Trust me, Kelsey, it's going to happen."
"How? I mean, I think Jack is a great guy. It's just most people see him as some pretentious billionaire."
Lin raised her eyebrows. "You call the CEO by his first name?" she said with a suggestive smile.
I almost choked on my tea, disclosing more about the nature of my relationship with my boss. Or rather, my boss's boss.
"No, it's not like that at all, it's just, you know... he likes me and said I could call him that."
"Really?" she teased. "Interesting, given your scandalous presentation the other month. You know people still think of you as the MILF of the building."
I blushed outwardly before sipping my tea.
"You know, it's not often that I meet someone as beloved as you. I'm surprised that, even after all that happened, the rumours that you'd been fired, and the other rumours about Clement blowing a gasket on you, you actually managed to keep your reputation intact. You must have superpowers I don't know about."
I used my cup to hide my expression. I never had a good poker face. My grin was hidden behind the consistent sips of my tea. Lin had been connecting the dots, seeing how I was suddenly back in Clement's good graces.
It had been announced that I'd be moving up to a new role. What that role was, I didn't know. However, this sent ripples through the office, ripples in which people were asking, why her?
"Can we simply go back to talking about Jack possibly making himself a candidate for the Republican nomination?" I spoke up, trying to appear humble.
"You're very, very coy, Miss Elms," Lin said, perhaps knowing already what was actually happening.
We sat there, quietly enjoying our drinks after sharing information, although mine wasn't as detailed and valuable as hers. Lin had been my intelligence officer, not to mention my visual relief.
Her beauty knew no bounds. The jet black hair she'd cut to be shoulder length. It hadn't taken a single ounce of her overall beauty. The things she told me helped me know what was coming next and anticipate it.
I'm not just talking about work either. Jack planning to run for president was a bit far-fetched. Almost unbelievable really. To think he'd then appoint his long-time best friend, Clement, to a high-level position. I thought it was a fairy tale really. Yet Lin was telling me that it would happen, that her sources (probably some Chinese hackers) were adamant.
We often had coffee together in the staff room. Of the people on this floor, I truly believed we were the smartest. Allying myself with her was the right idea. However, Lin was too clever to not notice the special treatment I received from Clement and more recently, Jack Harrison.
The truth was she'd find out sooner or later how deep those men had been inside me, how much of an amoral whore I'd been for their sakes. I still spent a few weekends with Valentina, my mistress. She had moved on to other conquests, one being some brunette goth girl I regularly see at her mansion.
Valentina dressed her up in costumes and outfits, with the last being a white rabbit onesie with a bushy red tail. Valentina made her crawl on a leash while she sat on her, nevermind she was just as youthful and innocent looking as Maddy. I often found myself as a willing spectator to my mistress dominating her poor pussy and small tits, turning me on so much I would take her place or dominate the goth bitch myself.
I saw Jack more often in his office, although it had become more common to be flown there by his private helicopter--one of the special perks that got people talking. It was really a booty call. Jack wanted to see if his beer can cock could fit inside my butt. It did only after lots of spit and lube were applied.
All of this, on top of Clement's regular requests for me to give him some attention, meant I barely had time for calm peaceful moments. Sitting down and talking to Lin was the smallest break I had, not to mention Kate whimpering to be taken care of.
Kate had done her part in finding dirt on Zahra. Kate had scanned Zahra's computer and found her sending detailed descriptions of Clement's and Jack's behaviour.
The address she was sending to was unknown. It led to a dead end. Kate surmised that Zahra was playing double-agent, even going for the more racist line of thinking by assuming she was working for some Middle Eastern oil company.
I didn't want to feed into her stereotypes, but it was definitely interesting to think about that given the fact we bumped into each other in the hallway just a few feet away from the arguing Clement and Jack. I didn't want to get my revenge on her just yet. I needed to know exactly who Zahra was dealing with.
"Lin?"
I had been wanting to ask this for a while. Hence the awkward silence. Lin hadn't left yet, and I'd asked her to sit with me during lunch. I'd also suggested I wanted to ask her something. I'm sure she realised I had yet to ask her anything.
"Yes, Kelsey. Finally going to tell me your secrets?" she teased. The same butterflies in my stomach formed as when I first met Valentina.
"One day I will, but today I want to ask you to do something a little...sneaky."
She giggled. "You really are adorable when you're trying to hide things. What is it you want to do?"
"So remember how you said I lost my promotion and all of a sudden I was back to being the company darling?"
"Yes," she replied excitedly.
"Well, I need to protect my status from the next sabotage. Can you help me?"
Lin stopped smiling, recognising how serious this was. She tilted her head almost as if she was thinking about it.
"You want me to find out who doesn't want you to get promoted?"
"I know who. I want you to do what you're best at. Spy on them, you and your Chinese friends surely can get me dirt I need to keep myself protected."
"Yes, you're right, I most certainly can do it. However, you're asking me to invade the privacy of a fellow worker. To investigate someone who may be innocent of any wrongdoing."
I raised my eyebrow and glared at her a bit. She wasn't playing games. She wanted something. "Well, as a friend I'd hope you'd recognise how grateful I am."
