Rich sighed as he pulled into the gravel driveway of the lake house, the tires crunching under the weight of the car. The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow over the trees and the lake in the distance. Ann turned to him, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Come on, Rich, it's going to be fun!" she said, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. He forced a smile, though he wasn't exactly thrilled about spending the weekend with her coworkers.
"I know, babe. I'm just a little tired," he replied, his voice tinged with resignation. Ann leaned over and kissed him softly on the cheek before hopping out of the car, her shorts making her ass look great. Rich watched her for a moment, she's as beautiful as the day I met her, he thought, they had both turned fifty this year, but Ann didn't look it, or act like it. Her body was still in great shape, a fact that hadn't escaped his notice over the years.
As Rich grabbed their bags from the trunk, Natalie, Ann's coworker, came out of the house along with Jill the hostess for this weekend to greet them. "Ann! You made it!" she exclaimed, pulling Ann into a tight hug. The three women walked off together like old friends. Rich rolled his eyes as he watched them go.
Once he had the bags inside, he found himself surrounded by the other couples, all of whom were already deep into their drinks and laughter. Rich scanned the room briefly before spotting a cooler in the corner. He cracked open a beer and took a long drink, letting the cool liquid soothe his nerves. His eyes drifted back to Ann, who was now sitting on the couch, her head thrown back in laughter. She's the life of the party, as always, he thought.
The first day went by in a blur. They had arrived late, so most of the evening was spent settling in and meeting the other couples. Rich found himself striking up a conversation with Fred who was Jill's husband. They talked about golf, work, and the usual small talk that came with these kinds of things. For the most part, everyone seemed great except for John, Natalie's husband. There was something about him that rubbed Rich the wrong way, with his stupid jokes and the way he caught him looking at Ann's ass.
The next day was a whirlwind of activity. They spent hours out on the boat, soaking up the sun, fishing, and laughing. Rich and Fred continued their conversation from the night before, finding common ground in their shared interest in golf. By the time evening rolled around, Rich felt more relaxed than he had in weeks. Dinner was a casual, with everyone gathered around the picnic table, eating burgers and drinking cocktails.
As the night wore on, the group went out by the large fire pit to finish off the evening. Rich sat next to Fred, nursing his drink and listening to the stories being shared. He noticed John, who was clearly more than a little buzzed, making his way over to them. John plopped down heavily in the chair next to Rich and leaned in, his breath smelling of whiskey.
"You're a lucky man, Rich," John said, his words slightly slurred. "Ann's a beautiful woman."
Rich stiffened at the comment, his jaw tightening. "Thanks," he replied shortly, his tone clipped. "Natalie's pretty great, too."
John just smiled and nodded, his eyes glassy. " Yeah but as usual she drank to much and is passed out in bed, oh well nothing for me tonight huh fellas." He said in his sarcastic tone. Rich and Fred just chuckled a little then turned from him.
A short while later, Ann came over, her steps slightly unsteady. She leaned down and kissed Rich on the cheek, her lips warm against his skin. "I'm going to bed," she murmured, her voice soft and sultry. "Come with me?"
Rich kissed her back, his hand resting on her waist. "In a little while, babe. I'm not ready yet."
