I put my books away. My brain was tired.
Being at a four-year college is a lot tougher than being at a junior college. I had done my two years at the local JC, then transferred over my credits. In two months I would turn 21, and I was looking forward to legally being able to buy a beer. Living in a small, isolated house several blocks away from the main campus was nice, too. The owner lived across the country and always rented at reasonable rates to college students.
8 p.m. on a damn Saturday and I was already looking forward to bed. I had managed to maintain study discipline, but at the cost of having zero social life. No dating for me until I graduated, obviously.
DING!
Who the heck could be at my door? I swear, if it was some jerk trying to push that Jehovah's Witness bullshit again...
I plodded over to the door. "Who's there?"
A harsh female voice boomed from the other side. "Open up in the name of the law!"
I pulled open the door a few inches, enough to see a scowling policewoman. She shoved me to the side, stalked into the room, slammed the door shut behind her and started glaring suspiciously around.
"Okay, bud. Where are they?" Her hand was on her gun.
My voice did a good imitation of a mouse. "Where are what? I've done nothing wrong."
"You know what I'm talking about. Tell the truth and I might go easy on you."
I stood there, confused. I had no idea what she wanted.
She yanked open the top drawer of my dresser and with a flourish, produced a bag containing a white powdery substance. "Aha! You're in big trouble now, mister. I'd better see what else you're hiding. Take your clothes off so I can strip-search you."
She had, clearly, just planted the alleged "evidence". But there was no way to prove it.
"Officer, I know for a fact -"
"SHUT UP, you criminal scum! Do I need to put a bullet in your empty brain case?"
Her gun was now drawn and pointed at me. I shut up fast and removed my clothing.
"Turn around! Hands behind your back!"
I felt my hands being cuffed.
"Up against the wall!" She shoved me face-first into a wall. I heard the sound of a rubber glove being put on. "Spread your legs. Time for a cavity check."
She performed the check, which found nothing.
"Officer -"
"I thought I told you to shut up!" She smacked her palm against my ass cheek. It hurt like hell. While I was trying to recover, she shoved a gag into my mouth and secured it. Where it came from, I don't know.
She spun me around and looked me straight in the eyes. "If you don't want resisting arrest to be added to the list of charges, you'll do exactly as I say."
