Laura was nervous as she headed home on what should have been, to an outside observer, the worst day of her 21 year life. The 5'10 Blonde gym-rat's day started with trying to register for her next semester of classes, only to be told that the school had no record of her being a student there. Then, when she tried to go to work, she had been told that she was no longer on the schedule and had, in fact, been let go.
As she pulled up to her apartment, she found something taped to her door. "What the hell now?" She thought to herself as she walked towards the door and discovered the eviction notice taped there. "They really went this far?" she nervously thought, as she got back into her car and sped off towards the agreed meeting place.
Laura arrived at the nature preserve and set off down the trail. She had known when she agreed to this plan that this trail was almost never used and she wasn't likely to run into anyone that she didn't intend to. She had not realized the lengths to which her unknown conspirator would go in order to realize their plan. Nor did she know beforehand that today would be the day it would all happen. She was not even a hundred yards down the trail when these thoughts were interrupted by the sound of breaking glass and a car starting, then driving away quickly. She barely even bothered to turn around and return to where her car had been just moments before, knowing it was not coming back.
Looking down at the broken glass on the ground she knew that there really was no way to back out now. There was no cell service here in the woods, and she wasn't prepared for the 15 mile walk back to town. Laura plugged her headphones in and put on something to calm her nerves as she started back down her prescribed path. The headphones assured she was unable to hear the footsteps as the man crept up behind her, shoved a hood over her head and pulled ropes tight around her body.
As much as she knew she shouldn't try to fight and yell, the suddenness of the attack caught her off guard and she began to struggle. With her music still playing, Laura was unable to hear her car pull back up and the trunk pop open. Her captor proceeded to lift her into the trunk and join his accomplice in the front seat as they took off deeper into the woods. Knowing their plan had gone off seamlessly, the men barely bothered to make sure they weren't being followed. As they neared the house deep in the woods, they pulled Laura's car into the garage to make sure no one would spot it if anyone happened to venture past.
Laura's struggling began to calm as the car came to a stop, the music was still in her ears as she was lifted from the trunk and carried into the house. She felt the sensation of bouncing on the man's shoulder as he carried her down the stairs into the basement. She was, however, unable to hear the noises of the keypad as the man opened the special steel door that had been installed for just this purpose. It wasn't until her body hit the hard plastic tray of the large dog crate that her headphones popped out and she was able to hear the two men talking.
"You're sure no one saw or heard us?" Said the first voice
"Will you relax, we're totally in the clear. The plan worked perfectly and the crew is on their way now." Explained the other
"I still can't believe we were able to pull it all off."
"It's amazing what you can accomplish over the phone with someone's personal information, and some downright blatant lies. I was able to withdraw her from the university posing as her father, and was able to convince her job that I was a police officer who had caught her with hundreds in stolen merchandise. That only made it easier to convince her landlord that she was a deadbeat who had landed in jail. She gave me all the information I needed, I just had to use it properly."
Laura, still nervous, smiled to herself and spoke in the direction of the voices, breaking up the conversation, "You know the hood was a bit much, I told you I'd come willingly."
"That would have taken the fun out of it for us. You were so quick to give me everything I needed that I almost thought you were messing with me. But then I checked in on you at work a few times and realized that you really were telling the truth. The group is on its way to meet you. So this will be your last chance to change your mind before I go and prepare for your welcome party." Said the second man.
