Artemis and Remus soaked in the water of the hot spring, now completely clean from their perilous journey in the Underworld. When they started hearing the pattering of steps outside the door Remus got out of the spring and grabbed a nearby towel neatly folded.
"How did that get there?" she asked curiously.
Remus snorted and wrapped the towel around himself, grabbing another for her. "It's called good housekeeping."
Artemis gracefully rose from the water and took the towel, drying her drenched hair.
Remus looked to the door then back to her. "Okay be quiet, I'd rather not have anyone know we're here right now."
Artemis wrapped the towel modestly over her body and followed him to the door. Remus creaked it open carefully and peeked outside. "Alright let's go."
They crept out of the room and quietly made it down the hall. When they reached Remus's room one of his guards turned the corner. He looked very surprised and opened his mouth to say something, but Remus shushed him and waved him away.
Remus gave a tiny snap and the few candles that were in the room lit up. Artemis had never seen his room before. It was the complete opposite of hers. No wood walls or floors, just dark stone. Almost no light, he wasn't lying when he said he didn't like sunlight.
It was very spacious, but pretty much empty. And what little was in the room was dark. The furniture, his scattered clothing and wide bed, all faded and black. It was as if he was living in a shadow.
As Artemis was scanning the room curiously, Remus gave her a hard push on the fur-covered bed. She yelped, taken by surprise. He kneeled over her, taking her wrists and pinning them by her sides.
"I just can't get enough of you," he hissed.
He threw her towel away and grabbed her thighs, pulling her towards him. He did not wait to start kissing down her stomach to that most intimate place. His tongue made its way between her legs, licking and making little circles around her moistening slit.
She yelped from the intense sensations. His tongue drew her in, causing an incredible aching that made her need more.
He started to dip his tongue inside of her, eager to inspire lust in this girl he loved to torture so much. Artemis couldn't quiet herself. Her hand found his hair and she instinctively held on, as if she let go, he would stop.
When Remus let his fingers wander to the inside of her inner thighs, he hesitated. She was so incredibly wet, she was practically screaming for him. Her body tightened as he slipped in a single finger, slowly pumping it inside of her.
Artemis pulled at his hair, her toes curling in anticipation of the oncoming euphoric release. She couldn't stop herself from letting out a loud moan as she felt herself on the edge of pure ecstasy, her body twisting from the incredible sensations being given to her so generously.
Right as she was about to fell that rush of ecstasy, there was a loud knock on the door. Remus pulled away, taking his finger out of her. "Fuck. Hold on," he said impatiently. He fixed the towel around his waist again and opened the door to two guards.
Artemis could barely hear their quiet voices. She could only make out Remus's cursing. He closed the door and grabbed his pants laying on an old chair. "I'll be back, stay here."
Artemis looked at him in disbelief. "Wait, what?" she said in a panic. HE pushed her to a state of desire so great that now with the absence of his touch she was in absolute agony.
Remus pointed at her sternly while shuffling his pants on. "I said stay." He put on his belt and left Artemis alone in his room.
She grabbed one of his pillows and nearly screamed in it. Her lust for more was crippling. She felt cheated. It wasn't fair.
Remus huffed, adjusting his pants as he walked up the spiral staircase and through the halls to the balcony. Perched gracefully on the edge was Basil, her enormous wings folded, and green mossy head bent down. To Remus's dismay she was talking to Hermes, who was lazily sitting next to her on the stone balcony.
It looked like he was talking up a storm, the patient dragon nodding and blinking her massive eyes as he went on and on. Remus's brow furrowed in annoyance. "Remus!" Hermes said excitedly. Remus had to stop his eye from twitching as he approached the two.
"What's up Hermes," he replied, a hint of firmness in his voice.
"I just came from the Underworld and shit, you two made a mess."
Remus crossed his arms. "So what, are you going to bring me back there?"
Hermes laughed, slightly angering Remus. "No of course not. As far as anyone knows you died in the fire of the labyrinth with Artemis. I told Hades I couldn't find you, so for now you are presumed dead. Though I doubt Hades will buy that for long. He is pretty pissed about his manticore. That does not bode well for Artemis in the future. Sooner or later he'll find out you two are still alive, so this is only temporary. If you get messed up with other gods again, word will travel fast."
Remus nodded, suspicious, but a little bit at ease with this information. Basil's eyes moved from Hermes to Remus curiously. "Well, thank you, I'll tell Artemis you stopped by."
Hermes frowned. "Oh, I don't get a tour of your fine castle?"
"Next time. I'll even personally give you a tour, but I have a lot to catch up on today. Thank you for the information, you are welcome to visit anytime." Remus replied with a stern look.
Hermes smiled. "Oh great, I shall come again! Maybe I'll even bring Bacchus."
Remus gritted his teeth angrily but kept an aloof appearance. "Alright then. See you later."
Hermes gave a salute and hovered away, the wings protruding from his ankles whirring loudly. When he was out of sight Basil leaned her head down to Remus's level. "I don't trust him," she said in her low, rumbling voice.
Remus put a hand on her scaly neck. "Believe me, I don't either." He ruffled his hair and gave a sigh. "So what happened with the cyclops? Did we fuck everything up?"
"Actually no. Well yes at first, but we successfully defeated them. My apologies but some of the other dragons would not listen to my demand of not using fire, but we did not harm any part of the forest. They were camped in a system of tunnels and caves, so we just blew fire into the caves and now, no more cyclops. Well, at least not in our region. But I do have to ask, why did you have to kill the cyclops you met with?"
Remus shifted uncomfortably. "He wouldn't listen to reason."
"Be honest," she replied. "Did he ask you to solve a riddle?"
"I told you, he was completely unreasonable."
"Remus, if you're a king you should be able to solve riddles. It's not just cyclops that demand that."
"Damnit Basil I do not need to deal with riddles, my word is enough!"
Basil snorted loudly, little sparks and clicks coming from the roof of her massive mouth. "Alright, well anyway, I would like it if you would come back to my home tomorrow night. We're having a feast in the cavern."
"Is this extremely important or can this wait?"
"We're on a time schedule so I'd appreciate if you came as soon as possible."
Remus grumbled, but Basil was one of his most trusted friends and if she asked for a favor, he was always willing to do it. Especially since his last encounter with the dragons, when Basil and the other two dragons swooped in and saved him from Apollo, he was in debt to her. Though this happened quite often. Both had saved each other on many occasions, which is why he trusted her so well.
"Alright, I'll be there."
"Good," replied Basil. She outstretched her enormous leathery wings and elegantly pushed off the balcony edge to fly off into the distance.
Remus slouched, giving a long sigh. "Fuck," he cursed to himself. He couldn't have one day to himself.
He marched down the halls and stairs, stopping to the room he had previously kept Artemis. Clothes the nymph had previously made her were still neatly piled on the table. He grabbed the first article of clothing he saw and brought it with him to his room.
When he entered Artemis was still stubbornly sitting on the bed, clutching a pillow angrily. Remus threw the clothing to her. "Get dressed."
Artemis scrunched her face, waiting for him to get the hint to continue what he had started earlier, but he didn't acknowledge her as he pulled a shirt on, trying to tame his messy black hair with his hand. "I said get dressed," he commanded firmly.
Artemis snatched the clothing, a short pale blue dress with laces running down the back to her tailbone. She fumbled, trying to put it on and tie it herself, but Remus saw her struggle and grabbed the laces, doing it himself.
"There," he said, giving her a sharp spank under her dress. "Just humor me, I have a lot to do, okay?" He gave her a small kiss on the top of her head and took her wrist, leading her to the great hall.
It was utter chaos. And faithfully standing on either side of the empty throne was Thaddeus and Cosmas. The second they saw him Remus cringed and stepped back.
They both started to wail and blubber while they rushed to Remus. "We thought we'd lost you forever!" cried Cosmas dramatically. Thaddeus sneezed violently, more than excited their king and friend was back.
"Fuck, stop!" said Remus, trying to avoid the overly affectionate creatures. He growled as they both wrapped their gruesome patchy arms around him, squeezing tightly enough to break his bones.
Both eventually released him, squealing happily while Remus rubbed his temples in frustration. He led Artemis to his twisted throne with him. He plopped down and pulled her onto his lap. Her legs dangled over the arm of the chair as he kept his arm around her, pressing her to his chest.
