"Meet me at Cabaret." I glance at Adele's message as I walk into my apartment. The wine bar is one of our favorites. "I'll be there in an hour," I text back as I jump into the shower. I just got home from the gym so there is no way that I am going out looking like this. Quickly, I shower and shave. Towel wrapped around me, I dry my hair as I walk into the closet to get dressed. Its still spring so the weather hasn't turned blistering yet. My white jeans seem like a good choice. Oh, and this blue and white corset will work perfectly. I am a fan of heels but given that I am walking the 10 minutes to Cabaret, I decide to go with my chunky heels. Still cute, but I won't break my ankle in them.
The sun is setting as I exit my building for the short walk to the bar. I'm so glad that I chose to live downtown when I moved here. I always have hated the hassle of driving everywhere. I'd much rather be able to walk when I'm out for the evening.
About a block away from Cabaret, I notice a tall, handsome man coming up to the same corner where I'm waiting to cross the street. He's probably 6'2" or 6'3", broad shoulders, and well built, but not bulky. His dark hair is combed, and his beard is neatly groomed. But it's his piercing blue eyes that really catch my attention. I flash him a smile and continue on my way.
Arriving at the bar, the man who has been walking slightly behind me for the last block steps in front of me and opens the door. "After you, my lady," his deep voice rumbles.
"Thank you," I say as I walk through, looking for Adele. I get the distinct feeling that he's watching me, though he's very discrete about it. After a quick glance, I find that Adele hasn't arrive yet. No problem, I'll grab myself a drink while I wait for her. At the bar, I order a glass of wine and then find a table.
