This is an alternative timeline of your life. You gave in. That's right, you're a smoker. Not just any smoker, a heavy one. When people see you they'll always see you with a cigarette in your mouth sucking as much pleasure as you can from it. It's part of your identity. You wake up in the morning and cough, your lungs are filled with tar and phlegm. A cigarette is in your mouth and lit before you are even fully conscious, your body needs it that much. Every time you light up you're fulfilling an insatiable need. Like water, you need cigarettes. Right now your alternative timeline is holding a cigarette to your lips. The lighter clicks and you suck the sweet tobacco smoke into your mouth, you keep sucking, hungrily, urgently, hard as you can until your mouth can take no more smoke.
Then you breath in, sharply and deeply into the deepest parts of your lungs. You feel the hit of heat and nicotine hurt your throat in that beautiful way. You know that pain is just the wonderful precursor to the pleasure that's absorbing deep in your chest making even that pain feel pleasurable. The nicotine is entering your bloodstream and going straight to your brain where it's releasing dopamine and lots of it. Your eyes narrow and mouth sags as you feel that sweet and addictive rush of warmth, stimulation and relief. You breathe out a long jet of smoke, the last bit of smoke flows out your nostrils like a waterfall.
Your fingers and toes tingle, every part of your body is absorbing poisonous chemicals but you can't stop, it's too good. Look at your body, think about every part of it yearning for cigarettes, think about each part of your body in turn asking you, urging you, begging you to give it that sweet poison. You're only too happy to help. You bring the cigarette back to your lips and suck once more, the same process begins again. Each suck means you'll need another. Each suck is pleasurable but it only gets better the more you do, the more you give in, the more you need it and the more pleasure it gives you when you give in. The cigarette is finished. Your fingers are yellow from nicotine and tar and you reach for another. The lighter clicks and you're back to receiving the poisonous gift.
