Chapter 8
Having Lara fetch her some casefiles had been a blast for Tina. Successfully using Ms. Baker's commands to make Lara do her bidding just gave her such a rush. Was it wrong? No doubt about that, it was just too much fun to stop now and if anyone ever deserved it than that surely was Lara. She could barely wait to order Lara around, yet she did wait until lunch to disturb Lara once more.
Her sandwich in hand she entered Lara's office without knocking and took place in one of the comfortable chairs across her desk usually reserved for clients. With all the big money clients Lara handled these were some of the most comfortable chairs in the entire building. "Hey Lara, I hope you don't mind me grabbing my lunch here? It's just way quieter in here as the breakroom is always overcrowded and you have to be pretty lucky to find a free chair even." Tina explained casually. It was a lie, but there was no way Lara knew.
"Uh... Oh no, please go ahead. These chairs aren't used over lunchbreaks anyways. I mean not most of the days that is. You know how some clients can be. If it's free then by all mean feel free to make use of them." Lara said after briefly zoning out. Tina could also swear that the smile Lara gave her had a slight flirty undertone. She would need to be careful with that. Earlier in the elevator it had been fun to test Ms. Baker's theory but flirting with Lara was a rabbit hole she didn't want to go down.
Keeping a straight face in order not to reciprocate Lara's light flirting and hopefully put an end to it Tina said. "Thank you so much Lara. You're the best. I think I'll take you up on that offer." She said before digging into her sandwich. Inwardly Lara groaned though. The last person she wanted to spend her lunchbreaks with was Tina. Especially after what she had asked of her this morning. Still she didn't dare tell off her superior that and Tina's praise gave her a rush of accomplishment. Getting complimented by someone superior felt amazing.
"... Okay, just don't mind me. I'm running a bit behind on schedule and still need to get the last of this case preparation for this afternoon out of the way." Lara said as a hidden hint for Tina to leave her alone, but the woman just kept eating her sandwich. At least she was being quiet now Lara thought.
Tina just smirked as she kept on eating. This was the best thing ever. Lara had yet again zoned out. The flirting had stopped now it was no longer reciprocated and Tina could clearly tell that her compliment hadn't missed its effect. Lara had visibly beamed getting complimented by her. It had visibly taken away some of her stress. Stress Tina had probably caused in the first place by making Lara lose time this morning. This was so perfect. She was handled like a puppet on a string and she didn't even realise it yet.
Lara took out another twenty minutes to finish up preparing her case for this afternoon before gulping down her own salad in another five minutes and rushing out the office. "Bye Tina, I'm sorry but I have to go." Lara said as she took on a brisk walking pace in her very high heels, her stocking covered legs on display as her shorter skirt rode up even more while taking bigger steps. Still the skirt remained long enough to hide her stocking tops by a big margin.
That was the last Tina saw of Lara that day. The court hearing took up all afternoon and after it Lara just went straight home. She had once again aced the trial and consequentially gotten complimented for her work allowing her to go home with her stress relatively under control and feeling happy.
The next morning upon her arrival at the office Tina was once again waiting for Lara. This time however she made sure that she made it to the elevator first and held it for Lara. Just so Lara wouldn't become too suspicious. She would just make the woman believe that it was usual for them to arrive at about the same time. A time Tina was able to estimate rather well. Lara once again arrived at the same time like yesterday creating a pattern so Tina wouldn't have to calculate too big a margins when waking up.
Just like yesterday Lara's first observation of Tina were her feet. They looked pretty much the same. Tina was wearing another pair of peep toed pumps, but her stockings or pantyhose looked to be the same ones as before and so did her pedicure.
"Good morning Tina, thank you for holding the door for me." Lara kindly said, feeling honoured that a superior did such a thing for her. It was silly of course and where before she would have cursed the person daring not to hold the elevator for her she now was grateful when someone did.
"You're very welcome Lara. Actually, there's something I'd like to ask you. You know that case I asked for yesterday? Well it needs to be sent out again and I was wondering if you could take it to the post office. You know how they exchange the incoming and outgoing parcel's at 8:30? Well if you rush you might be able to get it taken along today. I would be very grateful." Tina said smirking at the thought of making this a daily occurrence, making Lara run errands for her. It should further attack Lara's reputation as being the upper bitch in the office. Getting her to run one errand was an anomaly, but if she got Lara to do it again and again it would be a pattern.
Lara was stunned by Tina's nerve, she held a way higher position than Tina in this office. Yesterday she had felt nice, but she didn't want to make this a regular thing. Still she couldn't quite find the guts to tell Tina no. She might hold a higher position but in all essence Tina was superior to her, or so she believed. The gratitude dangled in front of her like a carrot on a stick made it even harder to say no.
It was a dilemma, one that was quickly solved though Lara's craving for praise override all her notion of social standings and the need to uphold them in the office. Besides she kind of felt like an imposter holding a higher position than Tina in the first place. It was the least she could do to make up for that unjust difference.
