[This is a sequel of sorts to my epic novel
Bred by the Hive/Parasites Love Earth
. I studied it intensively to find what worked and what didn't. This story involves a different kind of alien race who also exert mind control over its hosts, but this time there is much more emphasis on plot and greater characterizations. Most importantly, seduction through alien pheromones, a key element of
Parasites
, has been replaced by seductions using human emotions and sex appeal, which I think makes the seductions feel more realistic and interesting.]

Forward: The Trial (Approximately 10 Million Years Earlier)
The five judges were cloaked in shadow, seated on their high chairs around the long curving bench. Before them stood the twenty foot tall monstrosity known as OMNI. Enormous, muscular, with thick, scaly blue arms and legs, an enormous horn coming out of his forehead, glaring red eyes and thick fanged teeth. He towered above his judges.
The voice of the chief judge was fraught with tension. "Omni, do you have any last words before sentencing is pronounced?"
Omni cast his glare across each of the judges, as if trying to memorize their faces, as if they could be seen. Even restrained as he was, the judges felt it safer to be anonymous. The giant gave no response.
"Then as Chief Judge of the Galactic Federation, I am informing you that you have been found guilty of all charges, of waging war on 10,000 worlds, of killing billions and subjugating trillions. Your followers have been liquidated and reduced to plasma energy patterns and will be held in permanent containment. You will join them in stasis until such time as a race which is civilized determines you are worthy of another chance."
Omni gave a low laugh, which felt like a blast of cold air. "You think you can contain
me
? Nothing can stop the Iskari!"
"You
have
been stopped, past tense, at great cost of life," said the Chief Judge.
"If you were smart, you would kill me," said Omni. "But you are weak."
"We are compassionate, and reluctant to kill, even one as vengeful and violent as you," said the Chief Judge. "Let us hope the passage of the eons soothe your temperament."
"I will await my day of freedom eagerly," said Omni. "And when it comes, you and your puny Galactic Federation will be the very first ones I crush with my mighty forces. I will outlast you all! The Iskari Empire will once again rule the Universe!"
The judges in shadow looked at one another.
"Let the sentence be carried out," said the Chief Judge.
Chapter 1: Ten Million Years Later
Captain Andrea Farber of the United Survey Service Ship
Relentless knew
she was hot. At 41 years of age, she still hadn't lost a step. The red haired beauty had thick wavy hair, plush red lips, and filled out her Survey Service dayshirt that commanded every officer's attention--even the women. Andrea could tell from the way her male bridge officers looked at her, from Commander Sandman on down, that they all would
love
to have a tumble in the sack with her.
Survey Service regulations, of course, did not permit officers to have sexual relationships with officers under their command. And so however much she was flattered by all the longing looks from her crew, however much she enjoyed the endearing smiles of Commander Sandman and even young Lieutenant Remington, she knew she could never enjoy the touch of any of them. Being a Captain of a Survey Service ship was a lonely job.
But there were some ways to
share
the loneliness. Captain Farber had had an on again, off again relationship with another starship captain, Michael Taylor, for nearly 20 years. They would meet whenever they were in port, flirt outrageously with anticipation over dinner, and then make sweet passionate love. Each time felt like the first.
Only now that was coming to an end too.
"You and Sophie finally got married?" Andrea painted a dead smile on her face as she stared at the holoimage of her lover, now her former lover. "Michael, I'm so happy for you!"
"Thank you, Andrea," said Taylor, frowning. He looked at her as if he could
screan
her from light years away.
"We'll have to get to together to celebrate with drinks when we get back to Earth," she said, working hard to sound enthusiastic. "You, me... and Sophie," she said, making it clear it would be purely platonic. She hoped her voice still sounded authentically excited for her former lover. "We have to stop at Vega 2, but we should be back at Earth in-"
"That sounds nice, but we're going to be on some diplomatic missions in the Serengeti Cluster for the next few months," said Taylor.
"Oh. Oh. Oh," said Andrea. Her lover was ripped from her, and now she couldn't even see him again for a simple drink. She gave a weak smile. "Well, I'm sure we'll get together eventually. Give Sophie my love."
"I will." Did Taylor give her a look of pity? "Goodbye, Andrea."
His image faded.
Andrea sat in silence for a long moment, clenching and unclenching her fist. How she would miss him! She heard a buzzing sound. She sighed, squared her shoulders, making her heavy tits stick out even more, and said, "Come."
Exoarchaeologist Roger Talent entered her office.
"Roger," she said, giving an automatic smile.
"Captain," he said, giving a quick glance at the lovely hills on her dayshirt. "We're ready to head down to the planet, with your permission."
"Granted," said Andrea. "I must remind you again that you and your lovely wife will be all alone there for a month. Is there enough for a pair of newlyweds to do there?"
"The ruins of the ancient civilization go on for miles. There were hundreds of major cities on this planet, all of them in ruins."
"Is there any sign of what happened to the people?"
"That's what we're going to try to find out," said Talent. "The preliminary team didn't find any signs of bones."
"Perhaps your ESPer skills will give you some intuition. You're a 70, aren't you?"
"82, actually," said Talent.
"Marissa must appreciate that in bed," said Andrea, giving him a crooked grin.
Talent shook his head. "It doesn't work that way."
"How does it work, exactly?" she said, leaning forward. She enjoyed the effect she had on him as he shifted uncomfortably. "Well, you'd better get going. Give Marissa my regards and... enjoy yourself, Roger."
"Thank you, Andrea."
After he turned and left Andrea sighed, and turned back to her holoscreen.

The ruins of the planet designated as PK-22984 went on as far as the eyes could see. They were in some kind of half destroyed building which Roger might have described as a "building of culture and fine arts". It had elaborate pillars and carvings of people and animals on the walls. It had many rooms but one of them looked like a large performance hall of some sort.
