Chapter 3. Heather
Rick stretched at his desk and yawned. Having two genies was wonderful, but hard on the sleep. Ali, Lacey, and Bridget had all voiced concern that their Lord and Master would demean himself by labor (other than that of study and combat, as befitted a true prince), but Rick was firm.
"I have no other way to earn money. At least not yet. I must finish something at work. Once done it will provide money for us to work with. And hopefully a new genie as well."
Rick had discovered that his focus on making a specialized genie had worked out amazingly well. Bridget had taken to her tasks with gusto and Rick was amazed when he woke up. While Lacey kept his harem bed-chamber ready and more or less clean, Bridget had made it sparkle. She could use her magic to make everything clean with a snap of her fingers, but she actually seemed to enjoy doing the tasks.
"At least until we have proper servants Master. I was made for this and I love doing it." Bridget had responded when Rick had found her carefully polishing his collection. "In fact, I think I will always clean these things personally. They mean so much to you and what kind of loyal slave would I be if I showed my Master's prized possessions any less respect?"
Rick hadn't argued, especially after Bridget whispered some lovely suggestions in his ear and then was joined by Lacey to give Rick a proper wake-up call on the thick carpet. It had been a lot of coffee at the office that day, and then Rick had come home to a feast that blew his mind.
Bridget had gone all out and had cooked a seven course meal. She would bring out the plates and Lacey would feed him while he and Ali talked about future plans. After talking with Bridget he had learned she had put all of this on the mortal Bridget's credit card. Rick had been a bit stunned by the price tag and was a bit put out when Bridget had stated she had gotten only the best foods from the most expensive stores.
"Master, anything less would be unacceptable for you. You are my Creator, Lord, and Master. You will get only the best from your loyal slaves."
After that discussion Rick knew his expenses were going to go through the roof. He had discovered that in addition to just the upkeep of his household, there was a lot more he was going to need.
He had taken Lacey and Bridget out for a short trip each. He discovered that he couldn't take Lacey to anything other than the most elite and expensive places. Anything less seemed so beneath him with a woman like Lacey on his arm. They had turned heads and had been ushered to the front of the lines wherever they went. Lots of men had tried to hit on her, but most had waved off when they saw Rick. He was much taller now, very toned and muscled, and had an air of command and wisdom about him. Rick simply accepted this change as it seemed natural to him that a man with a beauty like Lacey would only accept the best.
Bridget had been much the same although they had gone to galleries and museums and even a few garage sales. Using he newly acquired skills and knowledge of art and antiques Rick had picked up some impressive items that others had not even suspected. But Bridget on his arm had caused him to gradually drift to more exclusive galleries and much higher priced items. He was able to resist buying things, but it took some effort. He had been shopping with the idea to use his skills to get great deals when he could detect things others couldn't see, and he had some success. But even doing that would not make him enough money.
Bridget had produced a plan for a "proper household" and it would be hugely expensive. The staff alone would run into hundreds of thousands of dollars. Bridget had based her plan on what her Master would eventually have according to the Grand Vizier. Ali of course had based this off old school princes and nobles, so it ran into a huge palace with everything from a harem, to libraries, to armories, to a stable.
Rick had been taken aback by it when he had seen it but Bridget had seemed so crushed when he had frowned he had re-assured her. "Bridget, you have done what I have asked, but I wasn't expecting this grand of a palace. I'm not someone who is usually so ostentatious."
Lacey had leaned over his shoulder and whispered in his ear. "Master, this is what a Prince such as you deserves. You are wise, and powerful. You deserve to rule from a grand hall and palace. With such beauties at your beck and call you cannot be just a simple man. You must have wealth, power, and more." Rick had swallowed as Lacey's scent filled him and she leaned over to give him a quick kiss and had nodded.
"Okay. But I'm going to need to get some real money fast or we will be out on the street."
"Master, why do you not create another genie and just wish for a fortune? You could wish for all the money in the world if you so desired." Bridget had asked. Lacey nodded and Ali looked interested.
"You can lose wealth, you can be conned, be stupid, made a bad decision, or other things. I don't want wealth; I want the ability to create wealth. And I know exactly how." Rick had replied.
And now, five days later, the "how" was heading past his office towards the board room.
Heather Landis, investment broker, hedge fund manager, and all around Wall Street Wizard. Heather was a customer of the firm that Rick worked for and he had audited several of her accounts. She knew him in passing as he had caught several errors and saved her some money. Not much considering, but enough for her to know him.
