Author's note:
This chapter is long overdue. I had to spend some time deciding where I wanted this series to go because, while I would love to have plenty of time to write tons of Parasound chapters, the reality is that I don't have nearly as much time as I would like. I have so many little scenes I want to write, parings of characters that I want to bring together, but I also don't want to leave the series unfinished. To satisfy my hopes for Parasound, I've got a two part plan moving forward.
The first part is finishing the series by bringing the already completed prequel series, Opening Act, more firmly into the plot. As of this point, Opening Act is still not required or even necessarily recommended reading yet. The focus of this story is still Kate and Lex and the rest, and I intend that to be the case right up through the end. If there is ever a point where Opening Act is recommended reading, I will note it at the top of the chapter. That said, you can expect at least three more chapters to the main series after this one, if not more.
The second part is where the series will go from there. As I said before, there are several stories and scenes that I think have great potential, even if they don't fit neatly into the main plot. So you can expect more Parasound stories after the end of the main story. Things like one-offs starring familiar characters that take place during or after the events of the series or maybe even giving those characters or new ones their own multi-part stories.
The bottom line is that I don't want to leave something unfinished, but that doesn't mean I will be hanging up Parasound for good at the end. The following chapter will set these plans into motion.
Thank you for reading! Please enjoy.
Fine droplets of rain drifted down from the night sky onto the front windshield of Kate's car as she drove back home from the movie theater.
It wasn't Kate that had any interest in going to see a movie. Her idea of entertainment had changed drastically in the last week. There were definitely cameras in movie theaters now anyway, wasn't much you could get away with besides maybe a covert handjob and a fuck in the bathroom.
No, Jake was the one who had plans tonight. Plans to see a movie with his friends, neither of which were Mike. She fantasized a situation where she, Mike and Jake all saw a movie together before having fun after, but the reality was a little more disappointing. Instead, she just dropped Jake off. Although, being the wonderful brother he was, he of course offered to drive there. And being the wonderful sister
she
was, Kate made her appreciation known. She could still taste the salty proof of her appreciation on her tongue.
Regardless of the fact that she hadn't gotten any new dick herself, she was still happy with the way her day had gone. Surprise sex that practically fell into her lap. Lining up a big dick that was in all likelihood actively penetrating her friend at this very moment. All topped off with a mouthful of her brother's cum that she coaxed out of him from the passenger seat.
She couldn't help but smile at the good job she was doing. Tonight she would go home and brainstorm. Figure out who was next. Sleep. Keep her energy up. There were plenty of people out there just waiting for her to come along and grab them by the crotch and pull them into the nearest alley.
Kate pulled up to her house and stopped out front. She didn't pull into the driveway, but rather stopped in front of it on the road and threw it into park.
She needed to pull into the driveway. She
always
pulled into the driveway. She could hear her thoughts in her brain telling her to pull into it and park and get out and go inside but... she couldn't. She looked down to see her hand trembling for the first time since having the gift thrust into her brain. Her hand slowly grabbed the gear shift once again, putting her car back into drive. The feeling was strange. As if her brain decided she was done for the day but her body had other plans. She felt herself ease into the will of her body, letting it take the lead as the music stirred quietly. Her hand stilled and whatever strange dichotomy of actions and thoughts had just occurred began to dissipate, calming her, soothing her. This was right. This was good.
Her arms and legs carried her freely around the neighborhood. She knew they were doing what was right. Knew they were taking her where she needed to be, even knew deep down that her brain was the one telling them what to do, but her inability to pull the 'why' from her own head was what made it feel so alien. The song rumbled again, quelling her conscious mind. She didn't need to know the 'why.' She would find out soon enough.
Kate found herself driving away from the suburbs. It was only after about twenty minutes of driving—the rows of houses turning into the occasional house surrounded by fields—that she realized a van was following her. It was big and looked unmarked from her obscured view. She should have been worried, but in that same way she had stayed calm and followed her gut willingly into Mike's car last weekend, she kept driving without a care. She had an idea that a similar fate was in store for her tonight.
The question was, how did she know? Did she guess? Did the song guess? One thing was certain. The van wasn't following her for the whole trip. So
how?
The song stirred once more. This wasn't the time for questions.
She turned down a cracked, dilapidated road that stretched out towards what looked like an abandoned factory. After more than a mile of being followed down it by the mysterious van, her foot pressed the break slowly through her blue running sneaker, bringing herself to a controlled stop.
Kate looked around. The space surrounding her car, beyond her headlights and the headlights of the van that overpowered her own, was nearly pitch black. There were no houses visible, no windows lit against the darkness, no possibility of peering eyes stumbling upon their peculiar encounter. The outlines of long-forgotten factory equipment were visible against the starlit sky as the hums of the two vehicles' engines intermingled with each other. Her small sedan ran quietly, while the van's own rumbling overtook it.
She waited. Waited for anything to happen. The van stood motionless. The driver's face was impossible to make our through the rear view mirror, though Kate felt them irrelevant for reasons she couldn't explain.
Her fingers grabbed the key in her ignition. She turned off her car and flicked her headlights off with her left hand. With only the van running, she could hear the sound of her own rapid heartbeat. Mike was one thing. The moment she saw him the other night, she knew she was in no trouble. He was just Jake's friend, easy to manipulate. Something else was emanating from the bright lights behind her. Something far less controllable than an 18 year old boy. Behind her was an unstoppable force. As if murmuring in agreement, the song woke briefly. Low, pulsing bass made its rounds in her brain before slumbering once more.
The door handle felt inviting against her hand. She pulled it, freeing her body into the night. Her long, smooth leg stepped out onto the cracked pavement, thigh bare against the nipping night air thanks to her white-trimmed black short shorts. She stepped all the way out, upper body warmed by the gray Waldon sweatshirt that her brother would be seeing in his dreams forever.
She closed the door, leaving her keys in the car. She may be able to return to it later, but she truly didn't know for sure. The only thing that was clear to her in that moment was that her destiny was in the back of that van. All she needed to do was walk around to the door on its side and step in. She had felt this before, she realized, but when she tried to recall the moment, it escaped her.
Something pulled at her, like an invisible rope wrapped around her thoughts. She was wasting time. The person waiting inside the van couldn't wait forever. She needed to go inside and fulfill her duty. And she would of course. She was a good girl.
As Kate walked away from her dormant car towards the unmarked van that radiated danger, the large door on its side slowly slid open. And without hesitation, at the same time when her best friend sank willingly onto her knees to swallow an intruder's cock miles away, Kate climbed into the van, the door closing just as slowly as it had opened.
The exterior of the van was deceptive. It wasn't necessarily a piece of junk by any means, but the inside of the van was incredibly lavish. It looked more like a limousine than anything else, with plush seating that curved along the three doorless walls. The lighting inside was incredibly dim and blue, with small cutouts under the two corner armrests. These were lit with equally dim red lights, housing wine glasses and rocks glasses that were clearly untouched.
"Katherine, it's nice of you to join us."
She turned to look at the man sitting to her left. He looked old, at least in his late fifties if not early sixties, but something about the tone of his voice and the way he was sitting implied an energy younger than his years. He was wearing all of the fixings of a suit, sans tie. The top button of his white shirt was popped. He didn't look the least bit surprised to find her stepping into the van.
"Who are you?" Kate asked, knowing it didn't matter.
Us?
She looked to the opposite side of the van. The lights on this side were dimmer, nearly off. A woman—a
