V'aquisa took a deep breath and closed her eyes in deep meditation for only but a moment.
Replicating humanoid physiology had its merits, even though she found them rather archaic. The function eased her mind; the one thing all sentient beings had in common regardless of any other factors.
The void goddess stood before one of the large windows lining her high-rise office. Now fully established within the specific world she had been assigned to. The process would have been much longer had the human Elizabeth not essentially soft reset this particular universe. Thus, allowing an opportunity to integrate PRIME into its 'genus' without any of the usual bugs.
V'aquisa took a step forward, phasing seamlessly through the solid plane of glass, and into an entirely different space detached from any central reality.
The room was a private lounge, high above chaotic cyan neon lights and blaring music of a party down below. In a chair facing a tinted window sat a motionless figure. One of

"
Sir
, I have some.. Concerns about Heliya's intentions..."

"Look, I'm sorry about earlier. Clearly I'm a lot more used to how things are now, and I should've considered that you're not." I breathed, holding myself from trying to glance over at Mei. We were driving a bit further over the speed limit than usual due to the urgency of our current predicament.
"Thank you." Mei responded quietly. "It's not your fault. I got us into this mess. You don't even remember how much I've fucked up since I got my hands on the cube."
"Mei Mei, don't talk to yourself like that. If it wasn't for you and your past lives, who knows what could have happened with Claire and.. Gary was it? Selling yourself short won't help anyone." I tried my best to keep her spirits up as we entered our suburban neighborhood.
"I guess... Who was that guy? The one you were talking to at the store," She asked, obviously trying to change the subject.
"His name is Winston. Turns out we have a few classes together, and I just never noticed him before apparently." I shrugged right before both of us went silent. Much to our dismay, Millie's empty car was parked next to the sidewalk, meaning she was definitely already inside the house.
"Ok babe, I've had enough of this bitch. Let's go kick her ass!" Mei growled as she pumped herself up but I only shook my head in response.
"We can't be hasty. Millie is smart, extremely so. We're in the same field of study if you remember. Not just anyone can handle that kind of coursework." I muttered.
"Yeah but, she's not that bad right? Yeah, she's annoying as fuck and whatever, but she wasn't always like this you know." Mei replied as she settled back down in her seat.
"What do you mean?" I asked. Honestly, I didn't want anything to do with the blue haired psycho. Not just because she had no tits either.. My resentment went a lot deeper than that. However, with the cube no longer connected to us, we had to be as cautious as possible.
"Through most of my timelines at least, I never really interacted with her too much. We still didn't like her in most of them except.. For before I made you a lesbian." Mei started.
"We were good friends back then, but it feels like, from what I've seen. Your relationship with her has gotten worse and worse with each reality shift."
I immediately began searching through my memories of each logged causal shift from the cube. It didn't take long before it all finally clicked.
"I think.. It might have something to do from when we dated.. I mean like. Not actually dated, we were in elementary school. She would steal money to help me buy lunch and I just kind of rolled with it." I glanced over at Mei but I didn't like the look of worry she returned to me. I didn't want her to pity me.. Geez. I really had become an arrogant bitch.
"We got along pretty well, but I started studying hardcore in middle school after learning about scholarships. If I had high enough test scores then I wouldn't need to worry about money anymore. So that's what I put all my focus into." I never really liked to talk about my past and judging by the shifting emotions on my girlfriend's face, neither did the other versions of me.
"We didn't hang out as often and things really fell apart when I started puberty. Sure, I liked girls but of course but not in the same way I do now, you know? Not to mention all of the attention I got for being the prettiest girl in school. Tack that onto my perfect GPA, it's no wonder I became popular. Everyone was sure I'd go really far in life."
"And I did."
"Just, not with her."
I turned off the car's engine and unbuckled myself. "I just kinda forgot about Millie, and then I met you and... I just moved on. Even though she'd tried to contact me continuously ever since. It only managed to get on my nerves if I'm being honest, so I blocked her."
"That's pretty rough.. It does sound like you, I guess." Mei admitted halfheartedly. Her response made me wonder just how different the past versions of me could have been. "So, what do we do?"
I was going to say something but I closed my mouth. I honestly didn't know. If we could assume Millie had access to the cube, then there really was nothing we could do...
Suddenly I felt myself lose momentary focus as a wave of deja vu washed over me as the pain in my temples subsided.. Had we had this conversation before?
"We have to assume she already has it in her possession, and that she at least knows how to use it somewhat. That said, we simply need to touch it."
"Oh, uh yeah ok." Mei Lin mumbled, "right, yeah that makes sense." She added a bit more clearly. She seemed distracted, but it was hard to tell given everything we had been through. Everything she had been through; Mei had 148 years total of memories to deal with, no wonder.
We gathered our wits and headed out of the car. Millie most likely knew we were here by now but Mei wanted me to sneak around to the backyard and enter from the patio while she went through the front door. I vetoed that plan immediately, sending her to come in from behind instead. Mei protested until I hefted one of my heavy breasts, there would be no arguing about this.
I wanted to put her in a safer position while I acted as a distraction. This time, I would be the one to protect my girlfriend, even if it cost me everything.
Mei Lin grumbled something about a migraine as she veered around the thankfully rather obscuring fence we had installed last year. My worry grew even more so, but I had to put that aside for now.
"Ok.. Here we fucking go." I whispered after waiting enough time for Mei to get into position. I made a point to unlock the door with my keys, even if it wasn't actually locked. Hoping to fake out Millie into thinking we didn't kn-
