NOW
Oh, no...it was already starting.
Amber could feel the first seductive stirrings within her. Just a few teasing whispers at first, the faintest hints of awakening lust. But she knew that those whispers would soon grow louder, gradually increasing in volume until they became a deafening roar that she could no longer ignore.
The vinyl tile floor was cool against her bare ass as she slumped down, staring dejectedly at the squat metal cylinder in the middle of the room. She'd been seeing these things all over campus for the past few weeks and had never given them a second thought. How many of them were there? With their dull gray color, placed in unobtrusive spots next to building entrances and water fountains, behind bike racks and benches, they were barely noticeable. Yet all this time, they'd been slowly turning everyone into sex-crazed animals.
And now it was her turn.
She still didn't know why she and the others in the Resistance had managed to hold out for so long. Maybe they'd spent more time inside, getting less exposure to the mind-altering pollutants spewing from these innocuous-looking devices. She liked to think that it had something to do with internal fortitude - that maybe her willpower had been a little stronger. Just like everyone else, she'd felt her body changing, becoming increasingly horny with each passing day. But she hadn't gone out and surrendered herself to the ravening throng of guys who would have eagerly fucked her silly. She didn't want to give in like that; she wanted to find out what was causing all of this, and hopefully put a stop to it.
But now, with these insidious tingles starting to course through her body, she wondered how much longer she would last. She glanced over at Alex and caught him looking at her before he quickly turned his head away. Was that a blush blooming on his cheeks? She wanted to tell him it was okay, that he could look at her without feeling embarrassed. After all, what was happening to them was beyond their control. Sooner or later, they wouldn't be able to fight it anymore.
"You okay?" she asked instead.
"Other than being trapped in here with THAT thing?" he gestured toward the cylinder. "I'm just great. You?"
"I'm all right so far," Amber replied, trying to sound more confident than she felt. Her body felt hot and itchy, and there was a simmering need welling up in her groin. She knew, with grim certainty, that it wouldn't be long before she had to do something about it.
* * * * *
THREE HOURS AGO
Amber logged into the Resistance's Zoom channel, wondering how many others would show up this time. Their numbers had been decimated during the past few weeks, as more and more people fell victim to the sex virus that was spreading like wildfire through the campus. Yesterday, there had been only eight participants - and it quickly became apparent that one of them had become infected. Amber winced as she recalled how Stacey had pulled off her shirt and invited all the guys to meet her at the pool so that she could "suck them and fuck them." Stacey had been a top economics student, friendly and super-smart. The two of them had often been study partners. But now Stacey was out there somewhere, probably getting her brains fucked out. Her mind and body had been contaminated, and there was nothing Amber could do about it.
Was it even a virus? That had been Dr. Edwards' theory - that there was an airborne bug going around, warping minds, stimulating sex glands. He had gone so far as to trap a girl in his lab so that he could get more data from an infected subject. He ended up getting more than just data from her; the surveillance footage had shown him strapped to his own examination table while his former 'subject' bounced up and down on his cock. After that, he didn't show up for the Zoom meetings anymore.
There was a chime as Alex came online, and Amber sighed with relief. She'd been dreading that the day would soon come when no one would log in, and she'd be the only sane student left in the entire campus. She didn't like to think about what would happen to her at that point. But as their numbers kept shrinking, that terrible prospect was becoming more and more possible. She pictured herself all alone, looking out the window and seeing a mob of naked, horny guys staring back at her, hungering for her body. It was a bleak thought - but beneath the horror, she felt an undercurrent of something else. Excitement, perhaps? No. Absolutely not.
"Hey, Amber. What's up?"
"Hi, Alex. Not much. How are you doing?"
He blew out a breath. "Just waiting for this whole nightmare to end."
She smiled ruefully. "You and me both."
When Alex joined the Resistance, it had been a bit of a surprise. Though only a sophomore, he had already earned quite a reputation as a philanderer. Half the girls on campus claimed to have had sex with him, and the other half really wanted to. Even Amber had to admit that he was very easy to look at. With his casual, easygoing nature, he seemed to have this innate talent for charming people. Everyone was suspicious of him when he joined, including Amber. If there was a virus going around, making girls eager for sex, you'd think a guy like Alex would be the first in line to participate. Except he didn't, at least as far as Amber could tell. Day after day, he kept joining their video conferences, and he seemed to be keeping himself clean. Amber couldn't figure him out, but she was truly happy to see him again. Maybe a little too happy, she told herself, feeling a flutter in her stomach. Zoom made it really easy to stare at a handsome guy like Alex.
Then Vanessa logged in, and Amber fought an urge to roll her eyes.
"Hi, everyone!" chirped Vanessa. "Wow, small group today!" Her voice was cheerfully bright and energetic, as if she was talking to a kindergarten classroom. It grated on Amber's nerves.
"We've still got a few minutes," said Amber. "Where's Roy?"
"Oh, he'll be here soon. We just got done with our Bible study. Ah, here he is now."
"Greetings," said Roy, looking angelic as usual with his blond hair and blue eyes. "Don't tell me this is everyone?"
Vanessa and Roy were devoutly religious, and they rarely failed to remind everyone of that fact. In their eyes, what was happening around the campus all came down to a lack of spirituality - in other words, failing to be Christian. This gave them the opportunity to feel superior to everyone else. Rather than showing sympathy or compassion toward their afflicted classmates, they seemed to view them with scorn and disdain. "They got what they deserved," proclaimed Vanessa during a meeting last week. Amber didn't know much about the Christian faith, but she was pretty sure that Vanessa and Roy weren't the perfect spiritual paragons they believed themselves to be.
"No, here comes Caleb," said Amber. Caleb was probably the exact opposite of Vanessa and Roy. He was completely atheistic, and yet he desperately wanted to help his classmates. Caleb was a science major; he was the one who had discovered Dr. Edwards' corruption, and now he was trying his best to find some sort of remedy for the virus. Amber admired his energy and determination, but she worried that he was pushing himself too hard.
"Hi, everyone," he said, the fatigue evident on his face and in his voice.
"Hi, Caleb," said Amber. "Any news?"
"Yeah...but you're not gonna like it." He pushed his glasses up. "I managed to get some samples from Dr. Edwards' lab..."
"Whoah," said Alex. "That was risky."
"Caleb, you shouldn't have done that!" exclaimed Amber. "What if you'd been..."
He held up his hand. "I know, I know. But I had to do it. It's our only chance of stopping this virus."
"So you're sure it's a virus, then?"
Caleb nodded. "Definitely. And it's a nasty one. I've tried every antigen in our labs, and nothing seems to work." He shook his head. "I honestly don't know what to do."
"I do," said Vanessa haughtily.
