Monday morning, lying in bed, I was relieved to hear my Grandmother leave for work. The previous morning had been a concern, after Dani invited herself into my bed, while Gran was still in the house. "OK. That's settled," I declared. "Tomorrow we'll go shop for a dress together."

"You should rub that sunscreen on her now Seb," Dani said, smiling at me like a matchmaker, who'd just got a couple together.

Dani's forecast proved spot on. The next morning I watched my Grandmother drive off to work, in pouring rain.
