Follow-up to Something Shady (mature, 2/7/2023).
Chip doesn't suspect a thing, Billy Shane thought. Or if he does, he's keeping it to himself.
Billy knew that Chip knew that his mom Sherri had a new boyfriend. What Chip didn't know, because Sherri wouldn't tell him, was who that mystery man was. Somehow, Sherri had managed to keep Chip and his new girlfriend Emily in the den after they had dropped over to kill a half-hour before their movie started. Billy had remained upstairs until Chip and Emily left for the movie. "We've got to be careful," Sherri had told Billy. Indeed, because what a mess that would be if Chip found out that his good friend was banging his mom.
The logical choice to prevent said mess would be if they stopped seeing each other. Not a viable option, not when their mutual attraction drew them together like the proverbial peas in a pod. If this mystery man left Chip scratching his head, it left Sherri and Billy with the problem of figuring out how best to keep Chip scratching his head. Sherri didn't like the idea of meeting Billy at some seedy motel. However, to be on the safe side, she conceded that it would be safer than having him over the house. Only the motel wouldn't be seedy, nor would it be a motel. It would be one of those fancy, swanky high-rise hotels in the Inner Harbor, the sort with a bunch of amenities, including fine dining. They'd have dinner, then repair to their room for the evening's festivities.
Sherri picked a night when Chip would be staying over his dad's place. Billy told his parents that he'd be "down the ocean." Ocean City, Maryland, that is, and they bought it because he'd met friends there before.
