"Hello, who are you?"
"Hello, I am Ashleigh"
Ashleigh smiled at the man, trying to be welcoming.
"Hi, my name is Jack."
"And you live in the back."
"Sorry, I don't understand."
Ashleigh laughed.
"I am sorry, it is an old Manfred Mann song. My dad loved them."
Jack looked totally confused.
"Shall we start again?"
He smiled.
"I am Jack, Cherile's boyfriend."
"I am Cherile's cousin twice removed or something like that. A distant relative."
She was going to mention that he was way too old to be anyone's boyfriend, but sensibly kept her mouth shut.
They drifted apart and Ashleigh went dancing.
This was a relative's daughter's wedding, and they seemed to have invited everyone to it.
Ashleigh was happy to attend except she was on her own.
Her parents declared themselves too old for all that mullarkey.
She was divorced, her one and only daughter was working in Greece for the summer.
Ashleigh loved to dance but nowadays didn't get many chances to do so.
So she was moving and shaking, totally oblivious to the rest of the guests.
"Can I join you?"
She looked and it was a youngster.
She smiled and nodded.
He started dancing and he was brilliant.
People stopped to watch.
Ashleigh upped her game to match him and had a great time.
"There will now be a break for dinner."
Ashleigh was disappointed, but she was also hungry.
She said she would see the young man when the music started again.
She found her place, they had a huge chart for everyone to take a seat.
The people beside her were friendly and appreciated her dancing skills along with the young man/.
She laughed. Now she has a toyboy! Grief her romance life was poor but this was rock bottom, maybe she should join a nunnery.
The music started again and her toyboy came to find her. This time he was with a man who looked like him and she guessed it was his dad.
"Hi again. I am Ant and this is my dad Rich."
She laughed.
"What does Ant mean?"
"My parents called me Anthony."
He gave a stern look at his dad who ignored him. Must have heard it many times before
"And you are Rich, so will I be getting any jewels?"
He laughed.
"Sorry not from me. I have a teenage son who seems to need something new every week."
"I have a daughter who used to be like that, she pays for her own things now, so don't give up hope."
She told them that she was Ashliegh and would they like to dance?
Rich was as good at dancing as Ant and Asshleigh really had to work hard to keep up with them.
"And now a special request. My name is Jack."
Ashleigh looked stunned.
"We heard you talking to that chap".
The music started and they danced.
Ashleigh and Rich sang along.
