Chapter 3
"Granddaddy, I got a job!" Tiff was at the door, bouncing on her feet with a huge smile.
"That's great news, Tiff, I didn't know you were looking," I said as we hugged. "Come in and tell me all about it."
"It's in the supermarket down the road, and I'll be putting together on-line orders for delivery. It's part time, four days a week, and during school hours so I can still do the school run with the boys. The extra money will be welcome."
"Always is, dear girl. When do you start?"
"Monday at half nine."
"I'm really happy for you, Tiff. Well done." I set a mug of coffee in front of her.
"Thanks Alfie." Holding the mug near her nose she inhaled the aroma. "I'm going to miss popping in for a coffee any time I want, though. Working will get in the way of my social life."
"True, but as you say, it will bring in more money, and it's a good way to meet people."
"It's going to be struggle only getting laid once a week. I'm going to need a week's worth or orgasms in one day, so it'll be Fuck Fest Friday."
With a laugh I said, "Well that sounds doable but maybe I should get some of those blue Young Mans Penis pills."
"You have nothing to worry about, Granddaddy. You've never let me down so far."
"I wonder how I will fill in the other four days."
"I'm guessing Renee will do her best to keep you occupied. Has she been over since we all played last week?"
"No, not yet. She may have changed her mind."
"She's had a few things to sort out, so I'd say she's just been too busy. She'll turn up." She looked at me seriously and said, "Be nice to her, Alf. She hasn't had many good experiences with men, if any. She needs some nurturing."
"I'll see what I can do."
"Talking of nurturing, I know someone who will be going without soon, and really needs some special attention. Are you up for the challenge?"
"For you, my darling granddaughter, always," I said as I lead her to the bedroom.
"That's the right answer."
The following Tuesday Renee knocked on my door.
"Good morning, Renee," I said, helping her off with her jacket. "I've never seen you in a dress before, you look very fetching. Come in."
"Fetching? I don't think anyone has ever called me fetching. Trust you, you old romantic, you."
I was fascinated by the movement of her butt cheeks under the dress as she led the way through to the living room, and we sat across from each other, me deep in my armchair and Renee on the edge of the couch.
I asked, "Have you heard how Tiff's first day went? I haven't caught up with her yet."
While Renee told me what she had been told by Tiff, I couldn't help but admire how her linen dress conformed to her shape, flowing from the neck down across her unfettered breasts, tenting around her hard nipples, then down to where the narrow belt cinched in the waist.
When she sat back and crossed her legs the skirt of the dress fell open revealing it was split to about mid-thigh. She saw me look but made no effort to cover up.
Renee was rambling and talking quickly, and when she paused to take a breath, I asked her why she was nervous.
"I don't really know how this all works. I mean, do we go straight to bed and talk after, or talk first?"
"Renee, how about we spend today talking about what you want from me, and I from you. Does that sound good?"
"Didn't we do that last week?"
"We did, but only generally. I think we need to sort out the details. How's your drink, need a top-up?"
"No, I'm good thanks."
I stood and held my hand out to her. "Come with me, let's get some fresh air."
Leading her by the hand we walked through the kitchen and out the back door.
"This is my private sanctuary, where I go for 'me time'. Not even Tiff has been out here."
"It's beautiful," Renee said, looking over my back garden. The plants had been selected for their shape and colour, as well as their perfume; the whole area was colourful and scented. "You have a swimming pool!"
"I do; it helps me keep in shape and is a nice way to cool off in summer. There is a spa pool and sauna, too," I said, pointing to my left. "Grab a seat and let's talk."
We both lay back on a chaise each, shaded by the large parasol.
"The other day you said you wanted someone to talk to about the serious things in life."
"That's right, someone to bounce ideas off, to ... I dunno ... give another viewpoint to things." Her brow wrinkled briefly, and she said, "I'm pretty sensible usually, but it would be nice to get a second opinion for things, like the work a mechanic says is needed on my car. I worry they are just taking me for a sucker."
"I'm happy to help with that sort of thing, Renee. I know it happens; most are honest but there are some unscrupulous ones too. Sometimes having a guy turn up too can keep them honest. What else are you looking for?"
"What we're doing right now. Sitting and talking, spending time together; you know, the whole companionship thing. Spending time with a friend." She paused, "Actually more than a friend. I want to feel I'm part of a family again, that I belong, that I'm part of someone's life. I want to feel I'm important to someone." She covered her face with her hands and whispered, "I get so lonely sometimes I don't know if I can take it."
I sat beside her and held her tight against me.
"You're not alone, Renee. You have Tiff ..."
"But she has a job now. I can't just call her when I'm feeling lost."
"Go and get your phone."
"It's in my pocket here." Renee fished around and pulled out her phone, unlocked it and looked at me expectantly.
I rattled off my phone number and her fingers flew over the screen like every other young'un's, putting my digital dexterity to shame. I heard my phone inside ping, and she said that we had each other's number now.
