Hall Pass (53) Some Time to Ourselves
By: LewdLuke
It was the last Friday in March and I was driving my little TR3 on the way home from work. On the Last Friday of each month, Linda and I usually go dancing at the club. Due to our latest adventure in Atlantic City, we had decided to skip it this month. We had recently become lax in observing our hall pass rules but we had agreed to try to get back on track. We had been a bit too active in the last couple of months. Both of us needed to kick back a little, or maybe, a lot. I was looking forward to a quiet weekend at home. In fact, I intended to take the complete month of April as a recovery period. I wanted to spend some time with Linda and make it extra special if I could.
We were planning to go to Scotland in May to see Bobby, Michelin and their new baby. I anticipated some hanky-panky on that trip. I knew that Linda wanted to spend some time with Bobby and I certainly wanted to be with Michelin. In my mind, I could hear the lilt of her Highlander accented voice. I became aroused every time I thought of her.
On the same trip, Linda wants to meet Eric and Anne Littleton in Paris for a couple of days. Eric is a young Scott that Linda had met two years ago. They have felt a strong attraction for each other. Linda has nicknamed him Lancelot, after King Author's Knight of the Round Table. I know that she has promised to spend some time in his bed. I gave her a pass to be with him last year but it didn't work out. That pass is still valid and I know that Linda protects it as if it were a treasure.
I think of Anne as, "Anne with a silent E." She is Eric's sister and she could play the part of a Viking Princess in a Hollywood movie. I think of her that way. She and I have never slept together but we have made some seriously lewd promises to each other. I chuckled to myself and thought, "I'm going to lose some weight on this trip."
I drove through our gate and parked in the barn. I thought that I wouldn't need the little sports car over the weekend and I liked to keep it out of the sunlight and the rain as much as I could.
The barn is about fifty yards from the house. When I started walking that way, I heard Linda call to me. She said, "Wait." I looked up to see her walking toward me. On her arrival, she kissed me then said, "We need to take one of the four-wheelers back to the house. I want you to take me up to High Point. We can watch the sunset and count the stars after dark." She paused and then said, "You can clean-up, kick back and have a drink while I finish making dinner. We can eat before we go."
High Point is the highest elevation on our small ranch. It is one of our special places. We go there when we have the need to be very close. I wanted to be close this weekend. High Point would be a good place to start.
The weather was perfect. It was very clear, very dry and the temperature was in the middle seventies. I liked the idea and told her so. I knew it would be cooler after dark. I hitched up the small utility trailer to the four-wheeler so we could carry some firewood up the hill. We rode to the house.
I decided to shower and change clothes before kicking back with a drink and letting myself unwind. My day at work had been productive, so I was in good spirits. I knew Linda's company would enhance my mood even more.
In our approach to High Point, the last hundred yards or so is the most difficult. When we come here on horseback, we always dismount and walk them up this last incline. The terrain here is steepest and there is some loose stone on the slope. We never bring the horses here at night, or if we plan to stay after dark.
The little Honda four-wheeler is much better here. I kicked it into four-wheel drive and low gear. It just crawled slowly up the hill and took us to the flat spot on top with no strain.
Linda spread our blanket at our usual lookout spot and I unloaded our drink cooler and the firewood. I opted not to start the fire. It might be that we don't need it for warmth and we both enjoy the dark more on a clear night. The stars seemed to shine brighter if there is no firelight.
I poured a glass of wine for Linda and popped a bottle of beer for me. We sat together on the blanket and made ourselves comfortable. The Sun was already near the horizon in the western sky but sundown was still twenty minutes away. Shadows on the land below us had become very long. Twilight was upon us.
We used the field glasses to search for deer along the edges of the winter wheat fields that lay between the Sun and us. We found several groups of them. Winter was over and they all looked well-fed and healthy. There were no little ones yet. They would be born in May.
The Sun sank lower and the shadows became longer and darker. The natural camouflage of the deer was perfect for this time of day when they are most active. They seemed to disappear right before our eyes. Soon they weren't discernable even through our powerful binoculars. The only living things left to watch were the cattle that wandered in the pasturelands. They were coming together into small herds and preparing to bed down for the night.
A very light breeze pushed across our hill. It was a good thing. It was just enough to entice Linda to snuggle up closer to me. I put an arm around her and kissed her forehead. I drew an almost inaudible purr out of her.
The Sun touched the horizon and then quickly sank out of sight. The stars began to pop out in their thousands. The brightest ones became visible first. The Moon had been above the horizon all day. It was higher in the sky than the Sun and still hung there just a bit south of west. It was a crescent, not yet a quarter full. Still, it would add some unwanted light to the night sky. It would sink below the horizon before midnight but I doubted that we would stay out that late.
Linda asked for another glass of wine. I poured it for her. I didn't even want another beer.
After a quiet moment, I asked, "What did you bring me up here to talk about?"
Linda giggled and said, "You always have me figured out, don't you?"
I answered, "Well, we have been hanging out together for a long time. I think I know you pretty well." I paused and said, "Answer my question."
She said, "I have some misgivings about our last escapade. I want to talk about it. Our hobby is getting out of hand. I want to put the brakes on." She said, "Luke, I got so scared when I realized I didn't know where you were or who you were with." She paused and continued, "I thought I had sorted all this out in my mind but I haven't.
I knew she wasn't finished I let her go on.
She said, "When it was over, I felt like such a slut. I decided I wanted to spend a night with Jerry two minutes after I met him. It didn't have anything to do with my bucket list. He just turned me on. I spent two days manipulating you into giving me a pass so I could be with him for a few hours, and then I enjoyed him too much." She sniffled and said, "You took me on the trip so that we could have some time together. I'm so ashamed of myself. Sometimes I am so selfish." She snuggled up to me and hid her face in my shoulder. She whispered, "You knew the whole time that I was up to something. Like always, you let me get away with it so I could have my way."
I asked, "Are you ready to quit swinging?"
She didn't answer for a long time.
I said, "Truth time."
She sat up and looked at me. She said, "No." After a pause, she continued, "I don't see how we can. We have too many people involved in our lives. I'm not ready to give up my friendship with Ed. I know you want something special with Caroline and she is already my friend and yours too, I think." She said, "Barb will always be special to us and what about Peggy?"
I asked, "What about Bobby and Michelin. We are supposed to visit them again in May. I do want to see their baby but you know that's not really what this trip is going to be about."
She said, "I know. I want to be with Bobby again." She said, "Hell, I heard you say Michelin's name in your sleep earlier this week. I know she is on your mind and extra special to you."
I said, "Yeah, and what about Lancelot and the Viking Princess? Do you still want to meet them in Paris?"
She answered, "I still want to meet them but I actually don't much care where. It was Anne that mentioned Paris." She paused and said, "We still have some unfinished business with Walt and Liz too."
I said, "They are lowest on the totem pole."
Linda asked, "How can that be? You and Walt are tied together financially through your business dealings."
I answered, "One thing won't affect the other. They have made new alliances with their friends in Florida as far as swinging goes. They have pretty much moved on already. We will all still be friends and we might want to play together again but they won't be around as much as they have been."
Finally, she said, "Tell me what we should do."
