submitted the story, 'It's in the Contract'. It was a long story, over 40,000 words, and twelve Lit pages. It was a story about dreams and failures. Though I don't mind an RAAC story (most I seem to write end up that way), a reconciliation story needs to come at a price, paid both ways. With his permission (and the use of most of characters and a change of location) I bring you my view of 'It's in the Contract'.

Jonathon Osborne had been a lucky child growing up. His father had long ago started a successful real-estate firm in Omaha Nebraska. The family lived a comfortable middle class existence. Jon watched his father at work when ever he could while growing up.
He turned 18 during his senior year in high school, and went down to take the exam to get his own licenses. The summer between graduation and starting college at UNO, he worked for his dad. With the way real-estate works, he didn't start seeing any money until after the fall semester started.
Living in the Aksarben neighborhood, his commute to school made living at home a better way to continue to save money. Jon still worked weekends, leaving little time to run around. Now that he was established as a realtor, he was averaging one closing a week, granted they were other people's listings, but beggars can't be choosy. Instead of 4% commission, he only got two. Still, 2% of $200,000.00 is still $4,000.00. With no school debt, because his parents had created a college fund for him when he was young, Jon was living the life.
He was studying business and accounting at UNO. His best friend, Brett Mitchell was studying contract law, and Jon hoped to one day, they could combine the two and form their own business.
It was March 17
th
, St. Patrick's Day, Jon had met up with Brett at the cafeteria when he saw what he thought was the most beautiful girl in the world.
"Hey Brett, do you know any of those girls over there?"
"Yeah, I know one of them, which one caught your eye?"
"The blonde in the middle."
"I don't know her, but the red head is in one of my classes. Would you like me to introduce you to them?"
"If you don't mind, I really need to know the blonde's name."
The two walked over to where the young women were talking.
"Hey Corrine, how you doing?"
"Hi Brett, I'm doing great, whatcha need?"
"My friend Jon here would love to learn the name of your friend here," pointing to the blonde.
"Well I'll tell you what, introduce your self first and then I might."
"I'm sorry, my name is Jon Osborne. I'm finishing up my first year here studying business."
"Ok, like Brett said, my name is Corrine; my friends are Ainsley Gruber and Heather Crockett. Now what else would you like to know?"
"I would like to know if I could buy Ainsley a cup of coffee."
Ainsley got a big smile on her face and said, "Sure, I'd like that."
They walked off together and the rest of the group just looked on. They sat down at a table for two and started telling each other about them selves. Jon went on about the real-estate business and Ainsley told him about her wish to become a rock star.
"My favorite group is the all girl band, Dragon's Breath. They started making it big two years ago and they are setting the industry on fire. The band I'm in, Green Velvet use a lot of their songs when we perform."
"So do you perform often?"
"Right now, about once every two weeks. It doesn't pay much, but the experience is well worth it."
"I noticed you aren't wearing any green today, is that so you can get pinched?"
"I don't know what you mean."
"Today is St, Paddy's Day, you need to have some green on or you'll get pinched." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a green handkerchief. "Put this in your pocket and you won't have to worry any more. Would you mind if I ask you out for Saturday night?"
"I can't this week, we have a gig at a school festival, but I am free next weekend."
They made their plans for the next week, and thus began their life together. Summer rolled around and Jon put in more time at the agency and Ainsley found more gigs to perform at. By September, when school started again, they were inseparable.
Call it a slip, call it a brain fart, or call it what you will, but the gods of fate decided that they were going to play their games with Jon and Ainsley. In December, celebrating the holidays, Jon's rubber broke and Ainsley's birth control pill failed. In February they found out that they were going to become parents, February Sucks, they were having triplets.
While finishing up the school year and planning for the future, the time seemed to fly by faster than it should. They settled on July first as the date of their marriage, so Jon had time to close on a nice three bedroom house between where his parents lived and Ainsley's.
It was a small wedding, just relatives and a few close friends. When it was over, they went to their house to live in it for the first time. Jon had done everything in setting it up. They would have all three kids in the same room to start.
On July 15
th
, first Emily Rene, then Jonathon Brice and Darla Christine made their debut. Jonathon was bringing in enough to live on, so it was decided that Ainsley would be a stay at home mom for the time being.
Before the birth, they had flipped a coin to see who would get fixed and Jon lost, before they could begin having sex again, he went under the knife, if ever they decided to have another child, he could always have it reversed.

Time stops for no one, especially parents with triplets. The two moms helped when ever they needed a little alone time, but the kids were such a joy, they didn't care. To stay in shape, Ainsley did Pilates and jazzercise. Jon did weight training and martial arts. Both were in better shape than when they got married.
When the kids turned five and were about to enter school, Ainsley decided, with Jon's support, to look for a job to keep her busy while they were in school. She called one of her old friends that use to be in the Green Velvet to see if she knew of any jobs. Heather asked to meet with her for coffee.
"Ainsley, you look fabulous, are you sure you had three kids?"
"Thank you for that. With the help of both of our mothers, Jon and I get away to go to the gym a couple of times a week."
"Look, you know my parents own a recording studio. If you are willing to do piece work, they need a back-up piano and singer for bands that need that extra sound. Depending on how much you work, you could earn around $2,000.00 a month to start.
"Here is their number, my mom remembers you from when we use to play six years ago. I'm working there also, so we'll get to see each other more often. Does that sound like something you would like to do?"
"Yes it does, I'll call her this afternoon."
They prattled on for another hour before Heather needed to get back to the studio. Ainsley called Jon to tell him, and then called Heather's mom. Before she knew it she was filling in at least three times a week. She was making her own money, while following her pipe dream from her youth.
Once again, time marched on. Jon had moved to doing site sales on new construction. As the lead realtor at the site, he got 1% from all the other sales people there. Still closing at least one home a week, and the percent from the others, he was now making about $300,000.00 a year. They had long since paid off their home, so it was time to pad that account for when the kids got ready for college.

It was March 18
th
2022, when he walked in the door and Ainsley told him he needed to change quick as there was some place they needed to be.
"So where are we going?"
"We are going to The Dover for dinner."
"Where are the kids?"
"There at my mom's house, now hurry up or we'll be late."
The distance from their house to the restaurant wasn't that far so they got there with in minutes. When they walked in, he saw a large party at the back of the place, and upon further study, he saw his and Ainsley's parents. It wasn't this birthday or their anniversary, so he was completely in the dark. Everyone looked to be in a good mood though. They took the only two empty seats at the end of the table.
"Hello Jonathon, everyone has heard so much about you. My name is Cora Broadwell and I am the manager of the band Dragon's Breath."
Jon remembered Ainsley always going on about them, but why were they here?
"Jon, these three ladies are Lena Stratton, lead singer and plays guitar. Shelia Shanti, she plays bass and also adds harmony sometimes. Fanny Compton is our drummer and sings harmony. The only one missing is Sandy Stilton who plays keyboard and sings. She isn't here because she was in an accident three weeks ago with her husband.
"The band is set to go on tour the first of April; our tour schedule was set last year and that is why we are all here. The band needs a keyboard player and we all flew out here from L.A. to audition Ainsley. She will be the perfect fit to fill in for Sandy.
"All of the contracts have been signed and we just wanted to let you know what's going on. Ainsley will be paid $600,000.00 for the tour. $100,000.00 a month will be deposited into your account the first of every month. Now do you have any questions?"
"Oh Ms. Broadwell, I have plenty of questions, I'm just not going to ask them right now. I just remembered something I need to do, so I expect to see all of you at my house tomorrow at 5pm. I will have everything I need by then."
He stood up turned and walked out the door leaving everyone with their mouths open and wondering what just happened.
Ainsley started to get pissed when her mom asked her, "Ainsley, didn't you inform him earlier?"
"No mom, I wanted it to be a surprise. He knew that this was my dream."
"We had better get you home."

When Ainsley got home the house was still empty, Jon and the kids showed up 15 minutes later.
"Why are the kids here, they were staying with my parents for the night?"
