Chapter 2
Collin and Cassidy lay together in the cool dim of their bedroom, basking in the afterglow of a shared orgasm. These were the moments that Collin treasured the most with his wife. A time of warm togetherness.
But this time, the post-coital cuddles had been spoiled.
"Honey... I have something to ask you..." Cassidy's words were deeply serious.
Collin did his best to be patient as he watched Cassidy wringing her hands nervously, lying just a few feet away from him. Collin's wife was as lovely as usual, her slim, naked beauty pressing enticingly up into the thin sheet covering her. But her body wasn't important right now. Not when she was wearing that expression. Cassidy's face was flushed pink and her lower lip was trapped between her teeth. This had to be important for her to so dramatically announce it right after sex.
Had something bad happened at the store? Was it her parents? Collin wanted her to spit it out, but he knew that pushing his wife right now wouldn't help her nerves one bit.
Cassidy picked at the hem of the sheet, biting at her lip as she tried to organize her thoughts. Despite having gone over what she was going to say nearly a hundred times since meeting with Kelly, the thoughts and words kept getting jumbled in her mind. She'd waited until the weekend to ask her husband because she didn't want to have the stress of the workday or whatever responsibilities they had to get in the way. This could turn into a long conversation. Even a fight. And Cassidy wanted plenty of space and time to discuss everything earnestly and honestly. Having the conversation after sex had been Kelly's idea. Hopefully, her husband would be relaxed and happy enough to actually give the shocking question a chance.
But now, she was having a hard time getting the words she'd memorized out. Kelly had talked to her about what to say, how to say them, and suggest them, and... she'd even suggested a trump card to use if all else failed. First, though, she had to get the question out. So Cassidy took a deep breath, smoothed the sheets over her hips, and met Collin's worried gaze.
"Honey..." Her eyes darted away for a second, then back. "The other day, at the picnic, Kelly asked me for a favor." There, that was a good start.
Colin frowned in confusion. This wasn't the direction that he had expected to go. Kelly had been Cassidy's best friend for... well, for a long time. Collin knew Kelly pretty well by this point, although not as well as Cassidy did. She was a caring woman, and it was unusual for her to do anything that might upset his wife like this.
"What was it?' he asked, concern clear in his voice.
"She..." Cassidy took another deep breath. But, instead of coming out calm and collected, the words tumbled out and ran together. "SheaskedifIwouldbeinterestedinhavingathreesomewithherandJack."
Collin stared at his wife. He took a slow beat, failing completely to absorb his wife's words. Even when he managed to absorb them, they still didn't make any sense. "Wait..." he said, shaking his head. "I think I misunderstood you. Say that again."
"Ohhh Collin," Cassidy put her face in her hands, cheeks on fire. "Don't make me repeat myself! It's embarrassing enough to say it once!" She waited a beat, picking out each word slowly from her brain, "Kelly asked if I would... be intimate with her and Jack. For his birthday. Like, as a special present."
Collin felt his hand form a fist on its own beneath the sheets. Kelly... the sweet, caring friend that had helped Cassidy through thick and thin, and Jack, the charismatic preacher at their church. They had asked his delicate, shy wife for... for...
"So... this is a joke right? Is this some sort of... what, I don't know, prank?" Collin asked, his voice strained. But judging by the look on his wife's face, this wasn't anything to laugh at. His shock was giving way to anger. Or, at least indignation. A thousand questions shouted in his mind, but one seemed most important:
"And you told her 'no', right? Obviously?"
Cassidy sighed. Of
course
she'd said no. At least the first time. But then she just couldn't get the question out of her head. The
idea
. The fantasy. There was a feeling of flattery and pride that Kelly trusted her so much that she'd ask her for something so intimate. Plus... well... maybe she'd also been wondering about Jack. And Kelly. About...
things
...
Her cheeks began heating up. An image of Kelly in her underwear slithered into her mind's eye. She'd seen her friend changing plenty of times for pool parties or when they went shopping together and tried on clothes. The thought of her friend's body had never really triggered anything before, but now, this door had been cracked open, those memories were being tinted with a rosy hue of desire. Kelly was good looking. A very fine body. Cassidy had always known that. But now it seemed to mean something completely different. And Jack... well, the man's smooth and lightly defined abs and the slight V of muscle along his waist spoke for themselves.
It didn't surprise Cassidy that Collin was upset. Confused. She had been too, at first. Kelly and her had discussed how her husband might have this very reaction. But watching it happen in real time was uncomfortable, to say the least.
"Well, I mean, yes, but... we talked a bit more about it and..." Cassidy bit her lip, her face the very picture of anxiety. "I sort of promised I'd talk to you about it. Just, ya know, to see if you might be open to the idea."
Collin closed his eyes and took a deep breath, counting to three. Cassidy was a bundle of stress right now, and snapping at her wouldn't help. This wasn't her fault... It was Kelly's. Jack's. Suddenly, across the canvas of his closed eyes, Collin pictured Jack. Tall, broad, and smiling in a way that Collin had always found charming, until this moment. The image conjured a sudden twinge of inferiority. Collin didn't make a habit of comparing himself to other men, but Jack was more athletic than him, and, although handsomeness was subjective, Collin thought that if the congregation held a vote for the hottest man in church, Jack would be in the top five easily. Where would Collin rank?
Then, for one horrible moment, the image of Jack dissolved into a much more upsetting fantasy. The tall, square-jawed preacher rolling on a bed with Cassidy, their naked, sweaty skin rubbing against each other as their lips locked hungrily...
Collin's eyes shot open, and he pushed the filthy fantasy away with all his might, trying to ignore the stirring between his thighs from the idea. Instead he focused on his wife, who was still watching him nervously.
