Alerted by a sound, Sam looks out the window in time to see Jim pulling in the drive way. Sam was anxious and excited, he felt his heart beating in his chest and his hands felt a bit clammy. Jim on the other hand was all smiles as he checked himself in the car's visor mirror and straightened his shirt collar. Sam looked towards the hallway, with a slight nervousness in his voice he called out "Cindy, your boyfriend is here!"
Cindy was Sam's wife going on 10 years, and the mother of their 8 year old son Darius. They had dated in high school and, after a short time apart during college, had rekindled their relationship in their final year and married the following fall.
Before Sam could move toward the door the bell had rung, Jim was quick on his feet and already on the front porch. He opened the door and welcomed Jim in with a "Hey Buddy!" and a handshake. He could see from his smile that Jim was just as excited as he was.
Jim stepped past Sam and made his way around the end of the couch to the open part of the living room. Jim, at 27, was about five years younger than Sam and Cindy. He was tall with an athletic build, mildly muscular with a toned figure, wearing a well fitted polo shirt and light colored slacks.
Sam started "She'll be out soon I'm sure..." as he moved around into the living room. He pointed to a chair as he took a seat in his favorite spot, just opposite the couch. "She's been so excited for this weekend, I had to take her shopping, she got her nails done... everything!...I'm almost jealous!" Sam continued. Before Jim could respond, or even sit down, Cindy appeared from the bedroom at the end of the hallway. Jim's eyes locked onto her figure as she sauntered towards the living room.
She was wearing a long and flowy linen wrap summer dress, it was sleeveless with a soft floral print, the waist tie holding it closed with a single knot. She held the dress off her leg with one hand, exposing a great deal of her right leg and thigh as she stepped confidently down the hall in an elegant pair of wrapped ankle sandals. She felt like a Phoenician goddess, and she looked the part!
The guys were nearly mouth open staring at her as she made her entrance. Cindy walked straight up to Jim and gave him a kiss as she pressed her body against his, her nipples almost visible against the linen fabric; it was clear to them both she wasn't wearing a bra. "God I've missed you" she stated after a sweet kiss.
"Oh let me look at you..." said Jim as he guided her back a step with one hand as if they were dancing. With his lead Cindy spun around quickly, the hem of her dress flaring out as she did. Cindy briefly looked to Sam with a coy smile and stroked his cheek with her finger, then blew him a kiss before tuning back to face Jim.
"Mmm mmm mmm!" Jim hummed as he pulled her back in for a deeper, more sensual kiss. One hand on her lower back, pulling her into him, as he still held her hand in the other. Cindy kicked up one foot behind her as she stretched up to meet Jim's lips. Sam slid back in his chair a bit and felt twinge in his pants and a knot of excitement in his stomach!
For a moment, as the two kissed, he wondered what was he doing? Allowing his wife to go away with Jim for the weekend, this time without him. He pondered the sanity of such a decision, and quickly recalled in his mind the events that had led up to today.
Jim and Cindy had been co-workers a few years earlier. Jim had always been flirty with her, even though he knew she was married, but Cindy always thought that was just how he was. He had never really crossed any lines, never said anything too out of the way and was genuinely a nice guy, not only to her but to their other co-workers as well. At the time, Cindy had not considered that Jim might actually be interested in her romantically and felt safe with their harmless banter, but she certainly felt they had some chemistry.
Sam on the other hand had the idea, even back then, that there could be more to it. He had accompanied Cindy to a company picnic where she introduced him to Jim. It didn't take long for Sam to read the chemistry, but he tried to shrug it off. After that meeting though he started to notice how often Cindy mentioned Jim while recounting her day. Before that, in Sam's mind, Jim was just a co-worker, but after seeing them together, picking up on the flirty nature of their interactions, he noticed how Cindy smiled when talking about him or their antics at work.
While he kept his feelings about it to himself, it made Sam a bit jealous. He tried not to dwell on it. But as he would listen to Cindy recount her day over dinner each night the vision of them together often clouded his mind. He knew there wasn't really anything untold going on, but he would get this excited knot in his belly and imagine them together.
