A few days ago I was doing the cleaning at home with my wife when an old photo emerged from a drawer. It was her in a bikini with a guy no more in touch with us. I winked at her and she told me, "stupid", with a smile. This photo, more or less, goes back to fifteen years ago when a hurricane passed near where we lived. We didn't get heavy damage, but a lot of trees were blown down, meaning we were without power for several days. This was about two years after we started exploring wife sharing, our baby steps were getting bigger as we were finding out what our limits were. She had one guy inside of her, but he went soft, so far that was the only disappointment
I was away working on hurricane prep procedures for the company where I worked, there was no way for me to get home, our kids were both away at college. My wife was less than thrilled to be staying by herself during a hurricane, I recommended she go stay with friends, she said she would let me know where she went.
My wife saw we had things like patio furniture, grills and other outdoor stuff that needed to be moved inside or secured or they might blow into a window. She was outside doing that when our neighbor, a single guy, saw her struggling and came over to help. She thanked him and explained why I wasn't there to do it. He told her if she was worried she could ride it out at his house, he had a small generator to keep the fridge running, a few lights and fans. She thanked him, but wanted to keep an eye on the house in case of leaks.
The winds were starting to pick up where I was, at a marine terminal, naturally right on the water, so I called her to make sure she was OK, it was likely the lines would be knocked out soon. She told me about getting help from Fred, the neighbor, moving furniture, I told her there was nothing she could really do if the house got damaged, so she ought to go ride it out with him, I teased her, telling her that's almost the same as riding it out on him. I should say Fred is about 10 or 15 years older, we were early 40's at the time. He's a quiet guy, medium build, divorced, an accountant to our local bank.
The winds were supposed to get strong about dusk, my wife said they were only just getting started when the lights went out, came on for a minute, then went out for the duration, which ended up being three days. She decided to take Fred up on his offer before it got worse, she grabbed a flashlight and knocked on his door, he got her inside but not before she got rained on.
Fred already had his generator running, so he had a couple of lights on, a floor fan going and a small TV so they could keep up with the news. He offered her a dry shirt and a towel for her short hair, she thanked him and he gave her one of his shirts, she went in the bathroom to change and dry her hair. She said her bra got wet so she took that off too, the shirt he gave her was a white knit.
She came out and he offered her something to drink, she noticed he had a glass of wine poured, she said that she'd have the same. They watched the weather on the TV, the storm was just getting started, so it was going to be a long night. Bad weather spooks my wife, so if I'm with her, I give her an infusion with calming effects and she usually sleeps through it.
