My name is Henry McAlister though I'm called Hank. My Dad named me after Henry Aaron, his favorite ballplayer. My father, John was a surgeon and my Mom Karen was an RN for many years. I have been married to my Mallory for 12 years and I have a boy Bobby 9 and a girl Jena 8.
I am a physician and have my own family medicine practice. I have about 150 patients and my practice is still growing. In fact I added a couple of doctors, a PA, a nurse and two medical technicians and an office manager and receptionist to meet the need within our community.
I am 39 about 6'1 195. I work out regularly and eat right so I am able to run competitive times in 5k races which I run several times a year.
Mallory is 34, 5'6", 120lbs, 34 C tits with puffy pale pink areola and small pink nipples. She has long sandy blonde hair and deep blue eyes. Despite having two kids she has managed to keep her figure thanks to Zumba twice a week.
We met during a sorority social when I was in my second year of medical school and she was a sophomore working on her bachelor's in marketing. Her parents are Gunnar and Helga Halstrom. My parents, Dr. John and Emma Kennedy McAlister were killed when their small plane crashed while doing missionary work in Peru.
Out of college she got a job with Kenner and Associates and her position is strictly 9-5 Monday through Friday. I am a board certified surgeon but I gave up the operating room and opted for private practice so we could have a family life instead of me being on call and having unpredictable and sometimes insane hours which is the life of a surgeon.
I grew up with my father away most of the time saving lives. He missed many milestones in my life including my high school graduation and the rehearsal dinner before our wedding. I didn't want to raise my children as an absentee father.
I have privileges at the local hospital so I take a couple of days each year and perform surgery on my patients that need it just to keep up with my skills. I also keep up with the latest through colleagues and medical journals.
As a result I am able to coach my son's little league team as well as help my wife with my daughter's Girl Scout patrol meetings at our home. We have dinner together every night and we have or at least I thought we had a really good and happy life.
That is until Mal, that's what I call her, met Marie Duval who joined her firm three months ago. After two weeks Mal was raving about her new friend and how she was so interesting and cosmopolitan. They started having lunch together every day. My practice keeps me busy so it is rare that I have time to meet my wife for lunch.
However, I had taken the day off to perform some minor surgery for a couple of my patients early in the morning and I finished earlier than I anticipated because one of the patients had fell ill with a fever so I could not operate on them safely.
So the procedure was canceled. Since I had already scheduled the day off at the office I decided that I would surprise my wife and take her to lunch; and perhaps have the opportunity to meet the enchanting Ms. Duval.
I arrived at my wife's office 15 minutes before lunch and I asked her assistant Beth, "Is Mallory free?"
Beth replied, "She's on a call but should be finished in a couple of minutes."
I said, "Thanks Beth, good to see you again." I took a seat and waited for Mal to finish her call.
About 10 minutes later Beth said, "Her call is finished and she will be heading out to lunch soon."
I asked, "Is she free?" I know that occasionally she has lunch with clients.
Beth checked her appointment book and said, "No she has nothing scheduled. She usually has lunch with Ms. Duval, but I'm sure she can cancel for the handsome doctor."
I replied, "Great. I had a rare day off so I came to surprise her and take out to lunch."
Beth said, "You can go in now Dr. McAlister."
So I opened the door to her office and said, "Hi babe, surprise, I have come to take my lovely wife to lunch." Mal's eyes were suddenly wide open like a deer caught in the headlights, suddenly blinded and confused as to what to do.
She looked annoyed and appeared to, it seemed to me, resent my unwelcome intrusion. "Hank, what are you doing here? I thought you had surgeries today." Mal asked her displeasure evident in the tone of her voice.
I said a bit dejected, "I had to postpone my second surgery due to a low grade fever." I had scheduled to have the whole day off and I thought I would surprise my wife and take her out to lunch."
Mal replied, "You caught me off guard. I told you that I have lunch with Marie Duval every day. Now I will have to cancel at the last minute and that's so rude."
I said, "Why not have her join us? It would give me a chance to meet your friend."
Mal suddenly looked at a loss for words and seemed to be thinking of something to say. She finished rolling her eyes to the side and said, "That wouldn't work because we are meeting some clients. Mal was scrambling and quickly added, guess she can handle them but I hate to leave her hanging on such short notice. She let out an audible sigh and said with some disdain, I'll just call and cancel."
I had asked Beth, and she told me she was free. Mallory just lied to me. I was thinking, what the fuck is going on? I got the hint and it was not as subtle as she believed it to be. In fact it hit me like a freight train.
She would rather have lunch with her friend rather than me, even though opportunities to have lunch together are rarer than a blue moon. Also, it seems that I am not welcome into their precious inner circle. Both bothered me more than I let on.
So I told her, "No. I get it. I'm rude and obtrusive coming here out of the blue. Keep your lunch date. I'll see you later."
I spun around and bolted out of the door while she was shouting, "Hank wait, it's not like that, please come back!"
I ran down the hallway and took the stairs so she couldn't catch me before I exited the building. By the time she took the elevator and made it outside I was driving out of the parking area. As I drove out I was seething, and I said, "Fuck her and fuck her friend too!"
I decided to be a stereotypical doctor and headed to the club to have lunch and a round of golf. I felt the urge to hit something hard. I got lucky and was able to round out a foursome with some other doctors who play regularly on Wednesdays. Their regular fourth was called to an emergency.
Al Shapiro was an urologist that I referred patients to when they needed a specialist. Al saw me at the bar and said, "Hello Hank. What are you doing here? I never see you at the club during business hours."
I told him about my canceled surgery and a rare day off.
He said, "I thought you would use the time to take your lovely wife out to lunch rather than hang out here. You're a lucky man, you have a beautiful wife."
I told him of how I tried but I interfered because I caught her off guard, client meeting etc. So I joined Al, Ben Simon and Alex Simmons for lunch and golf. I had a good round we were playing for $50 a hole. I won 11 of 18 and took Al, Ben, and Alex for $550 each and they were amazed at my drives as I had never hit a ball so far in all of my life.
I didn't leave the club until 6pm and I knew that Mallory would be seething. I let my emotions get the better of me and that would change in the future but, I was lied to and something is not right with this situation at work and I resolved to get to the bottom of it.
First, I had to pay the price for today and I will probably get the cold shoulder for a week before this all blows over, providing I don't piss her off anymore.
I pulled into the garage and went inside. Mallory was putting supper on for the kids. I said hello to everyone and hugged Jena and Bobby. I went to give Mallory a kiss on the cheek but she turned away so I sat down. There was the usual chatter from the kids about their day. There was silence between us. After an evening of checking homework, preparing snacks and some television, I settled the kids into bed at 9pm and I went back down to the living room. Mal had shut off the television and I knew she was ready to talk, scream, or whatever.
Mel said, "Hank, why did you take off like that? It was so childish. I told you I would cancel my lunch date."
I replied, "What do you mean take off like that? You told me it was a business lunch and I did not want to interfere where your career is concerned. I took off so you wouldn't cancel on my account. I could tell you were annoyed and taken a bit aback by my showing up unannounced. So I decided to go to the club for lunch and Al Shapiro needed someone to round out their foursome so I played golf and had a drink afterwards before I came home. I didn't think I was being childish! I thought I was making it easier for you."
I couldn't help myself, and I added, "Gee, your pissed I showed up and you're pissed that I left. I seem to be a schmuck, damned if I do and damned if I don't."
Mallory was quiet for a moment before she said, "Hank you're not a schmuck. You're right, I just got caught off guard and I was running late for my lunch meeting and Marie was already there with the clients. I should have handled it better, but I was stressed out dealing with another client's problem just before you arrived and landing those other clients is a priority for the firm."
Her explanation seemed rehearsed though she had several hours to think of what she was going to say. I wasn't ready to reveal that I had caught her in a lie. I had to investigate the matter further and I did not want her to know I was on the scent.
I said, "Are we good Mal, and is there anything wrong? Is there something I'm not doing that I should be doing?"
She suddenly had a look of guilt followed by a look of concern on her face and she answered, "God no baby. Everything is fine. You're the best husband a girl could have. I love you Hank. It seems we had some misunderstanding that's all. Even though it's not technically a fight, how about some make up sex? Come on baby; let me show you how much I love you."
She came over and passionately kissed me and she throatily whispered into my ear, "I'm so fucking horny, I'd do it right here if I wasn't afraid one of the kids might come down."
I followed her up to the bedroom and as soon as I closed the door she was taking off her clothes like they were on fire. Then she started removing mine and throwing things on the floor with reckless abandon.
I said, "Hey slow down. Don't throw my $1500 suit on the floor. I don't usually where something that expensive unless I am going to the hospital for a day of surgeries and formal occasions.
