Charlotte's sleep was disturbed the next morning by someone on top of her. "What the hell?" she thought to herself, as she tried to fully awaken. The breath of whoever it was reeked of last night's beer. Then she felt her pajama bottoms being pulled down.
She finally managed to open her eyes and become aware enough to see that James, her husband, was currently on top of her. His cock was already out and was desperately trying to invade her.
"James, get the hell off of me!" Charlotte yelled and pushed him away from her.
"What the fuck, Charlotte?" James screamed in response.
She got out of bed, pissed at what just transpired. She was tired of being used by James whenever he had the urge for sex. She pulled up her pajamas and then stormed out of the room without saying a word.
Charlotte made her way to the bathroom, hoping that would give her a little bit of time to herself. She stood at the sink and began to run the water, all the while staring into the mirror. Her head was killing her.
She then began to recall the events from last night. After the incident with Billy, she remembered calling Pastor Ron for help. In his infinite kindness, he showed up at the forest preserve parking lot, and then drove her home in her car. He did not ask why she was there, or why she was drunk, or especially why there was a bra on the floor of her car. He simply drove her back to her house.
When they got there, he helped her carry the cases of beer into the house, and then called an Uber to take him back to his car that he left parked at the forest preserve. The only thing he did say to her before he left was "Maybe you should stop by my office tomorrow after church. We can talk."
Charlotte remembered that when she finally got back to the party, it was much later than she had thought. People had already started to leave, and James was passed out drunk in their bedroom.
She was glad to see that Jonathan and his wife Monica were still there, and she was even more glad to see that James' co-worker, Dominick, was still there as well. The foursome had great conversations throughout the rest of the night and well into morning when they were the last people still there.
After Dominick, Jonathan, and Monica finally left, she remembered going to bed, only to be woken up by James' early morning assault on her body.
Charlotte grabbed some Tylenol from the medicine cabinet and swallowed them with some water. Hopefully that will help her headache. She checked the time, and saw it would be tight, but she should be able to make it to church services this morning. She started the shower, stripped down, and got in. The warm water felt wonderful cascading down her body, almost as it was washing away her sins from the previous week.

Charlotte was in her bedroom looking at herself in the mirror. She had put on the flowing green dress that she thought matched her eyes. The dress was a little long, and pretty conservative, but she was going to church after all. She was putting on her earrings when she looked at the reflection of James in the mirror. He was still in bed. "You're still not going to go to church this morning?" she asked.
"No. My head is killing me from last night." he groaned. "Did you make me any breakfast?"
Charlotte silently seethed at the request. "No. I didn't have time. You can either have cereal like the boys had, or you can order something from DoorDash."
James groaned again and pulled the covers over his head. "At least put on a pot of coffee for me."
Charlotte didn't reply. She finished putting on her earrings, and left the room, slamming the bedroom door behind her.
Her sons, Luke and Matthew were already dressed, and watching TV in the living room. "Time to go, boys!" she said cheerfully.
The boys turned off the TV, bounced up from the couch, and ran out the front door. They were both in a competition who could get to the car first. Charlotte followed, but not at the breakneck pace that the boys were moving.
When she got outside, she noticed that Leo was out front of his house, watering his lawn. It was the first time that she had seen him since the incident in the pantry a few days ago. He looked up when he realized she was there, but then he quickly avoided making any eye contact with her. Without saying a word, he put his hose down, and walked back into his house. Charlotte didn't mind, she was unsure of what to say to him anyways. She saw that the boys were already in the car, so she got in as well and drove off to church.

Church service was typical that Sunday. The congregation had a decent showing for a normal Sunday. Nothing like the religious holidays like Easter and Christmas when every seat is filled, but there were still a fair number of people attending this morning. Ever since Pastor Ron was assigned to the church last year after their previous pastor retired, more people came to Sunday services. In contrast to their previous pastor, who was well into his 80s and who delivered very boring, dry sermons, Pastor Ron was only 45 and his sermons were quite engaging. People loved coming to hear him speak. He delivered his sermons with laughter and music, along with sentiment. As a result, members of the church felt connected to him and his wife Susan. That was the main reason that Charlotte thought of Pastor Ron last night when she needed help without being judged.
After the service ended, Charlotte waited in the pew with her sons until the congregation filed out of the church. As people left, they would come up to Pastor Ron to thank him and say their goodbyes. Pastor Ron saw Charlotte waiting, and acknowledged her with a nod, remembering that they were to meet after church was done.
Charlotte stood up and led the boys out into the lobby and then down the hallway that connected the various classrooms and offices to the church. She continued walking down the hall until she came to the only classroom with its lights on. She peeked inside, and saw a few small children playing with various toys, waiting to be picked up by their parents as they waited for church to end. She looked and saw Susan, Pastor Ron's wife, watching over the children. During every church service, Susan would watch the children that were a bit too young to sit through an hour sermon.
Charlotte entered the classroom. "Charlotte! What a wonderful surprise! It's been so long. You are looking great, especially after that awful accident." Susan said. Susan had a permanent cheery personality, although Charlotte could always tell it was somewhat fake. She had heard that Susan was a terrible gossip.
"It's great to see you too, Susan. You are looking as great as ever." Charlotte said. "Could you do me a favor? I have a meeting with your husband soon, and I was wondering if you could keep an eye on the twins while I meet with him? They would be dreadfully bored by the conversation."
Susan contemplated what Charlotte had just said. She was meeting with her husband. 90% of the time when anyone from the congregation wants to meet with her husband it was because of marriage issues, and they wanted his guidance. Typically they came as a couple, but Charlotte was here alone. Susan wondered how bad their marriage was if James wasn't here. "Was she contemplating a divorce?" Susan thought to herself. She would have to try to find out the hot gossip as soon as she could. Too bad her twin boys weren't in the meeting too. When the kids were in the meetings, the adults would often forget that they were there, but kids' minds were like sponges. Susan could typically ask them what was said in the private meeting, and the kids were always very willing to share.
"Of course, it would be no problem." Susan replied with a painted smile.
"Thanks so much. You are a lifesaver." Charlotte replied.
"Knock, knock!" Pastor Ron said from the doorway. "Ready to meet?"
"Sure." Charlotte replied. She then followed Pastor Ron down the hallway to his office.
"Shut the door and have a seat." Pastor Ron said as he sat in his chair behind his desk. Charlotte complied, and sat in a chair in front of his desk.
"So we haven't really been able to talk much since your accident. Everyone in the congregation was praying for you. How have you been?" he asked.
"Well, it was scary there for a while, and I was in a lot of pain when recovering, but I think I'm just about 100% now." she answered.
Pastor Ron just looked at her, in silence. He often found the best way to get someone to talk was by not saying anything. When there is an uncomfortable silence, human nature takes over and people will begin to chatter to alleviate their feelings of uncomfortableness.
"Thank you so much for your help last night. You were the only person I felt I could count on." Charlotte said.
"You didn't feel like you could count on James last night?" Pastor Ron asked inquisitively.
Pastor Ron saw Charlotte's eyes begin to tear up slightly. "Things have been a bit different since the accident." she explained. "Something happened, and I've been seeing things a bit different, and acting a lot different."
