Sage sat on the living room couch as she reread the rules on her phone. They weren't airtight. She hadn't mentioned all the imperfections. Seeing Jeremy both love and hate what she was becoming was an intoxicating feeling. His pain made her feel sick... his excitement made her wild. Ever since their recent session with David, Sage had felt outside of herself. Constantly lost in thought about what had happened and what could happen.
David's incessant texts weren't helping. It had been a few weeks since they last met and it was clear he was getting impatient. His questions were always the same: When were they going to meet again, what she was wearing, and how much she had thought about his cock. Sage wanted to reply, especially whenever he sent over an image of his erect member. She wanted to tease him, to let him know she was still in control, but Sage had promised Jeremy she wouldn't reach out until they were both ready. She was, but Jeremy said he wanted some time to decompress.
"After all, we said it would only happen once a month, right?" Jeremy said. That was over three weeks ago now, and while Sage didn't want to hound him about meeting David again, she couldn't help but feel like the tempo had shifted. Jeremy's once overly excited nature about their cuck sessions had all but evaporated. Now, instead of begging Sage to meet up with David, he would grow quiet and distant whenever they broached the subject. Sage wanted to be understanding. In fact, she had to be. What David had done to him... what David had done to them, crossed the line. It would have shocked anyone. But, as much as she wanted Jeremy to have the time he needed, Sage felt starved sexually. She wanted Jeremy's blessing and be let off her leash. Sage knew it was only a matter of time before she saw David again. Jeremy just needed a little coaxing.
No, that didn't feel right. She knew she shouldn't try to force him into something that was making him uncomfortable. Yet, for all his discomfort, Jeremy hadn't asked her to stop once. Not even when he looked Sage in the eyes as she sat down on David's cock. She remembered Jeremy's awestruck expression and began fantasizing about that night. She squeezed her legs together as she remembered how much David's shaft filled her, how her body quivered as he pounded her through an orgasm.
It took everything in Sage to push away her invasive thoughts. To remember that, while she enjoyed this newfound kink, she was still Jeremy's wife and wanted to remain his wife. But her desires felt like an overwhelming force pulling her away from sanity and reason. Jeremy had opened the box, and Sage knew they could never close it now.
Sage heard the front door open, turning to see Jeremy slowly walk inside. He didn't speak a word as he took off his jacket and hung it on the coat hanger. His body dropped onto their entryway bench as he lazily pulled one shoe off at a time.
"Hey," Sage said softly. Jeremy looked over at Sage.
"Oh, hey. Didn't see you there," he replied, standing and loosening his tie.
"I take it the meeting went bad?" Sage asked.
"The meeting? Oh yeah, the merger. No, it went well," Jeremy said as he passed behind Sage and made his way to their open kitchen. He opened their stainless steel fridge and pulled out a protein shake, drinking it in silence.
"Really, no hiccups at all?" She asked.
"None whatsoever," Jeremy replied coldly. He took a swig from the plastic jug before dropping it lazily onto their granite island.
"So... what happened?" Sage asked.
"What do you mean, what happened?"
"Jeremy," Sage said shortly, "come on, I know you. Something is wrong."
"Nothing is wrong," Jeremy said. He stared out the kitchen windows passively as he played with his drink's bottlecap.
"Of course. Was it Theo? Did Theo fuck something up?" Sage asked.
"What did you say?!" Jeremy snapped. His gaze was intense and unwavering as it fell on Sage, making the hairs on her arm stand.
"I asked if Theo messed something up. I take it that's a yes?" Sage replied cautiously.
"Are you sure that's what you said?" Jeremy asked. Sage's eyes narrowed as she gave Jeremy a look of confusion.
"Yes, that's what I said, and please don't talk to me in that tone," she replied.
"Talk to you in what tone?"
"You know exactly what tone Jeremy, I was just asking about your day, and you're talking to me like one of your clients at the office. We've talked about this. I know you have to be an asshole at work, but you don't get to be an asshole to me," Sage said. Jeremy sighed as he rubbed his eyes.
"Yeah, right, sorry... god forbid you have a bad day," Jeremy replied.
"Hey!" Sage said, standing up from the couch, "Seriously, what the fuck is going on Jeremy? Did I do something?"
"I don't know Sage, did you?" Jeremy shot back. Sage in place as her hands began to sweat.
"What do you mean?" Sage replied. Her mind raced through a thousand different questions. She quickly tried to figure out how Jeremy could have heard what had been happening between her and David. Had David told him they had done things off-camera? Was this David's way of punishing her for not responding to him? Jeremy clenched the side of the island as if he was trying to break it off. It had been a while since Sage had seen him this worked up.
"What other surprises do you have cooking behind my back?" Jeremy said in a low rumble.
Time seemed to stand still for Sage. She was in disbelief. She felt like her life was over. There was no way Jeremy could have known about her and David. It couldn't possibly be going this way. Sage knew she should've come clean when she had the chance. She should have told Jeremy about what she and David had done off camera and how he had ambushed her the other night. Sage knew it was stupid to keep little white lies, but she never thought they'd actually blow up in her face like this. It was a living nightmare. Whatever excitement her little secrets had given her were burned away by guilt and terror.
"Jeremy... I... I'm," Sage's hands shook as she prepared to come clean. To tell Jeremy everything and admit it was wrong. But as she opened her mouth to speak, Jeremy interrupted her.
"How long have you been fucking Theo?!" Jeremy shouted.
"W-what?" Sage was dumbstruck, surprised that Jeremy was bringing up Theo at a time like this.
"How many times have you fucked him, Sage?!" Jeremy said.
"Wait, you think Theo and I are fucking? Is that what this is all about?" Sage asked.
"Look me in the eyes and tell me you're not," Jeremy said. Relief trickled through Sage like a cool stream. As her body trembled as she released a shaky exhale.
"Jeremy," Sage said softly, "I am not fucking Theo." The room fell silent. Jeremy rubbed his hands through his hair as he took a step back from the kitchen island, shaking his head as he grit his teeth.
"Are... are you telling me the truth right now?" He asked weakly. Sage felt her heart break seeing Jeremy in such a weak state. He needed her, and she needed him. She walked over to Jeremy and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Of course I'm telling you the truth," she whispered. "I would never start fucking someone behind your back. We started this journey together. This is about both of us." Sage embraced Jeremy tightly, as she felt him let out a slow, quivering breath.
"I'm sorry Sage I..." Jeremy returned Sage's embrace as she buried her face into his shirt and breathed in his smokey cologne.
"You don't have to be sorry," Sage replied gently.
"Jesus... I feel like such a dick." Jeremy said. Sage rubbed his back as she closed her eyes, listening to his heartbeat as the tension melted between them.
"It's alright, it happens to the best of us, and honestly, you have every right to feel the way you feel." Sage paused, debating if she should confess everything now. It was the perfect moment. She could clear the air, set everything right and have them start fresh.
But Jeremy didn't know what happened between her and David. He didn't need to know what had happened between them, because Sage would make sure it would never happen again. No, she needed to keep this secret, for him and for their marriage. She promised herself it would be the last.
"I can only imagine what it must have been like to have been sideswiped like you were," Sage said. But Sage didn't have to imagine it. David had ambushed Sage just as much as Jeremy that night.
Jeremy nodded slowly. "I'll be honest. That night, how it all happened, bothered me a lot more than I thought it would." The two released their embrace. Sage looked at Jeremy. Exhaustion radiated off his slumped shoulders, his eyes red from holding back tears.
"Have you been sleeping alright?" Sage rubbed Jeremy's shoulder.
"Not since that night, no."
"So... do you regret doing it?" Sage asked.
"We already talked about this," Jeremy said, rubbing his neck and shifting uncomfortably.
"We did, but you also hadn't accused me of cheating. Be honest Jeremy, do you regret it?" Sage's question was more for herself than for Jeremy. It eased her guilt, knowing she was giving him a chance to speak his mind. Jeremy was silent for a long while, staring at the floor before finally shaking his head and shrugging.
"I don't know," He said.
"That's not a good answer," Sage said.
"I know it's not."
"Jeremy, we can't move forward on maybes. This whole thing only works if you are on board."
"I know that." Jeremy crossed his arms and leaned against the kitchen island, his internal struggle clear in his stooping posture.
