New Years Eve Catastrophe
The Sicilian Mafia don't play those games. Revenge is Sweet.
N
ext month will be the 8th anniversary of Vincente's wedding in Catania, Italy, a town just outside of Sicily. Vincente was a made-man and part of the Marconi family.
Antonio Marconi attended the wedding out of respect for his cousin Jonny, now head of the Marconi family back in Chicago. The wedding was what you would have expected with a large Italian reception with tons of food, wine, drinks and dancing into the early morning hours. Laughter, fights, dancing, more laughter and lots of drinks flowed all evening.
Antonio took a liking to one of the wedding servers, a young girl named Elise Fellini. She came from a small, poor family that worked for the Marconi Family over many years and was present for many of their special occasions. They served at weddings, cleaned houses, and did odd jobs whenever needed. The Marconi family was generous, well respected, and feared among the locals and villages in the area.
Watching the girl all evening, Antonio found her to be exactly the type of woman he was looking for. A young, pretty, innocent girl who knew her place and would be happy to get out of her current hard life.
For the following week, Antonio courted the young woman with the family's blessing. They were thrilled at the prospect of their daughter moving up and out of the poor lifestyle she was trapped in.
Antonio had to fly home to take care of business in Chicago, but decided to return a month later to see Elise after speaking with Jonny about his plans. After Jonny gave Antonio his blessings he flew back to Sicily and met up with the Fellini family. He asked her father for her hand and they happily agreed. Antonio was generous and told the family he would support them and replace the money that Elise earned on a monthly deposit as a sign of respect for his family and his daughter's hand. It was a custom to take care of the family, which was not a financial burden for Antonio.
They had a small wedding and her younger sister, Lucia, was her maid of honor. Lucia was only sixteen and even more beautiful than her gorgeous sister, Elise. It was a wonderful wedding and two days later Elise was on her first airplane, riding first class to her new home in the USA.
The 7,000 square foot home on the lake, was a far cry from the 800 square foot home her and the family lived in for those years. Elise could not get used to all the luxurious surroundings and servants that took care of the home. It took Antonio and the family to make her understand her place, and that living like this was normal for their family.
Excited and nervous, Elise found the next year to be a whirlwind of change. She had to improve her English, learn new customs, and come to terms with the fact that she was no longer a lower-class servant but Antonio Marconi's wife. Her cousins and extended family helped her adjust to the American lifestyle, and before long, she was fully immersed in shopping, visiting salons, and planning dinners with the help. Elise was happier than she had ever been. Antonio could not be happier as she was everything he had hoped for in a wife.
True to his word, Antonio took care of her family back home, visiting them twice a year with Elise. Over the next five years Elise embraced her new life, enjoying country club visits, tennis lessons, spa treatments, and all the perks of the good life. Her family back home also flourished from Antonio's generosity and were able to move into a larger home with more luxuries than they ever dreamed of, thanks to their little girl marrying into the Marconi family.
Five years later
Five wonderful years later their life together was happy and satisfying. They were now trying to have children and start a family.
One day at the country club, Elise was with a friend who introduced her to Gunther. Captivated by her beauty and accent, he offered her a job at his company, explaining that they needed a translator for some of their clients and that her presence would bring an added dimension of beauty to the office.
Flattered, she initially declined his offer, as she wasn't looking for work, but she was intrigued by the prospect of using her Italian translation skills and doing something other than shopping and visiting day spas. It would only be a few hours a week, allowing her to prove her value to Antonio and show everyone that she was more than just a spoiled wife.
Elise pleaded with Antonio to let her work and contribute to their family because she felt guilty about taking without giving back. Antonio explained that, in their family, it was the man's role to provide, and the wives did not work. However, after many discussions and arguments, Antonio reluctantly agreed, telling her she could work as long as nothing changed between them. He made it clear that if he noticed any inconveniences, she would have to quit.
Elise was ecstatic to contribute and be productive again. While she enjoyed the diva lifestyle, she missed the sense of purpose that came with serving and contributing. This opportunity allowed her to demonstrate her value to Antonio and become an even better wife. She quickly became deeply involved in her work and was eager to impress Antonio with a promotion that Gunther had promised her. Achieving that would prove to her generous husband just how grateful she was for being his wife.
Over the next several months Elise worked hard to make sure Antonio was happy and that her job didn't interfere with her home life. She made sure to sexually satisfy his needs and make sure he knew how much she appreciated her efforts.
Unfortunately, she made a mistake one evening when she told Antonio that Gunther wanted to have a business meeting after work one day.
Innocently, without thinking that there was any alternative meaning, she started a conversation with her husband, "Honey, Gunther wants to have a dinner meeting after work this week to discuss my job and a possible promotion. I know you don't like me working, but you know how much I enjoy it and how proud it makes me feel."
"He wants to take you to dinner, just the two of you?" That was the first time he had an inkling that there might be trouble afoot and would do a little research on Mr. Gunther.
"Yes, he said he's too busy at work and needs some private time with me to discuss my performance."
Smiling and keeping calm, Antonio replied, "Honey, you will not go to dinner with him alone. End of story. If he wants to discuss your work, he can do that at the office. If he has a problem with that, tell him to give me a call. I don't want to hear about this again, do you understand?"
That was the last time she brought it up, and life went on without any more questions about private meetings with her boss. Antonio did some research on Gunther and didn't like what he learned and would keep a closer eye on the situation. He was going to have a talk with Gunther at the upcoming New Year's Eve party, and make it clear that he didn't approve of private meetings with his wife after work hours.
Antonio's Nightmare
The party was a week away and Antonio was already tired of hearing how wonderful her boss was, and how excited she was for them to go to the New Years Eve Party at his home. All the girls told her how amazing these parties were and she wanted to have a good time. She purchased a sexy and elegant dress, had salon treatments, and looked like a Movie Star. When Antonio came into her dressing room he was taken back by her beauty and gave the most passionate kiss and told her, "I love you Mrs. Marconi."
She returned the kiss and giggled at his complement. "You look very handsome in that Tux, Mr. Marconi and I love you too."
He arranged for a limo to the party as he did not want to drink and drive on that cold Chicago night. They were having record winds and low temperatures and Antonio did not want to deal with any car trouble that night.
Antonio knew all about Gunther before he arrived at the party. A background check turned up the fact that he was ex-military and employed by a dark division of Blackwater, known to hire mercenaries in their line of work. All the information pointed to Gunther being a bad man, that did bad things for the government and not someone to be taken lightly. Antonio had a bad feeling about this guy, and was going to pay close attention that evening.
At the party, Elise eagerly introduced her husband, Gunther, a towering figure at six-foot-six and 280 pounds, to Antonio, who was nearly eight inches shorter. Antonio felt dwarfed as he shook Gunther's massive hand, instantly recognizing him as more than just a potential rival.
