"I'm going to go" I said to my daughter Jess, above the music.
"Are you sure, Mum? We're going to a bit of a chill out at Emily and Jakes, you know you can come too."
I was tired and slightly drunk, so just wanted a quiet bed. Oh, how age catches up with you! I'd been to visit Jess, my 20yr old, at University. She hadn't been back for ages, so on the spur of the moment I told Simon, my husband that I was going for a couple of days. Jess was a little surprised, but happy to see me. Mainly because I took her shopping, but still...For fun, she suggested that I come out with her to the student bar and have a few drinks. It had been fun, meeting her friends and letting my hair down a bit. Jess was popular, and in a tight top and little skirt had lots of male attention, while I chatted to her girlfriends. It had been a while since I'd done anything different, so I'd enjoyed myself, but now was about ready to drop.
"Well, here's my key. I'll be home later or in the morning, so don't wait up." I kissed her goodbye and went for my jacket and a cab. As I got outside, the cool air was lovely, ideal for walking, but I thought a taxi would be the best bet. As I was waiting for one to pull up, there was a tap on my shoulder.
"Louise, isn't it? Jess' mum?"
I turned and there were two young guys next to me. I recognised them from the bar, they were friends of Jess and had bought us a couple of drinks.
"Luke and, erm..."
"Chris. It's okay, lots of new faces, easy to forget names! Are you going home? Can we jump in with you, our flat is the block next to you, so we may as well share."
Why not, I thought, and so in we got. They were nice lads, and we chatted about general stuff on the way back. They were the same year as Jess, but a different course, but knew everyone from the bars on campus.
"Jess is a bit of a party girl, isn't she?"
" No, not really, she studies a lot more than you'd think." said Chris.
"Usually the first one in the library after a night out" agreed Luke.
I was secretly pleased with this, after all, we spent so-
"Just here, mate, thanks. Here's five, keep the change." Luke paid the driver and we got out, I was surprised how quickly it had taken.
"Well, we can walk you to yours if you like, or you can come up for a coffee, wine, beer, shot..."
I laughed at all this, but the fresh air had cleared my head a little, so one glass of wine wasn't going to hurt. Up we went. I had to laugh when we walked in and the boys did a fast 'man-tidy' of slinging clothes and beer bottles into random cupboards, but it was nice and clean, nothing like the student bedsits that I remembered. Chris got some drinks and put some music on, and we carried on chatting, about studies, life plans all sorts really. Before I knew it the wine had gone.
"We've got more, in the kitchen, on the left."
'I'll use your bathroom, and get it on the way back" I said, and left the room.
Bit tipsy, Louise, I thought to myself as I made my way to the kitchen for more wine. Have to have one more and go. Besides Jess might be home and can't get in...
I found the wine and was looking for a corkscrew when Luke came up behind me and asked if I was okay. Standing right behind me, he brushed his hand against my hips and gently kissed my neck. A shiver went right through me, but I turned to push him away. I fell slightly and he leaned into me.
"Louise, I've been wanting to kiss you all night, come on, just a kiss –"
"I'm married, and no, it would be wrong, and Jess-"
He kissed me, my mouth open, his tongue darting inside, faintly tasting of whisky, his hands in my hair. I kissed back, more in surprise than anything else, but it felt so naughty I couldn't resist myself. What would my daughter say? What would my husband say? 43, and with a guy young enough to be my son?
"Oh, Louise..." Lukes' hands gripped my hips and pulled me against him. I could feel a stiffening bulge against my thigh as he rubbed against me, I pushed him off, finally.
"That was worth waiting all night for" he said, smiling at me.
