My old buddy Jim Burns told me: "My brother in-law owns two storage places. I will ask him if he will rent you what you need with out your name on it."
Now I had to figure out how to empty the two rooms without being seen on camera. Walt Duncan started laughing and said: "Not a problem, all those places use remote servers for surveillance storage. I will capture the signal and wipe the memory the day you rented your unit. When you clean out the two rooms I will block the cameras from recording. The only thing tying you there will be on their onsite computer with your information. When I block the cameras, I will wipe their hard drive clean. After, all they will know is they were hacked."
I asked Walt: "How do you know how to do all that?"
Walt told me: "You remember I joined the Navy after we graduated. I ended up in intelligence working with the Seal Teams. We did this shit all the time."
I said: "Back then there weren't computers and internet."
Walt laughed and said: "I was in twenty-five years, then fifteen as an independent contractor. The teams would be in country while I was safe in a bird miles away over friendly countries. Now I do it free-lance for the government at eight hundred and hour, plus expenses."
I thanked both and bought a round of drinks for them and the other three friends that were with us.
Two days later Jim called me and said: "My brother in-law say he will rent you what you need off the books. For a short term, will that work or do you need it longer?"
I asked: "How long is a short term?"
Jim told me: "Three months, does that work?"
I smiled and said: "That is more than enough time. What does he drink I will get him a case of it."
Jim said: "My sister would shoot you; her husband is a friend of Bill's if you know what that means. It is touch and go for him and if he drinks again, he loses her."
I asked: "What can I get him?"
Jim said: "I'll ask my sister and let you know."
The end of the week, Walt called and asked to meet me. When he told me where I thought it was odd, but he was doing me a favor. It was Saturday morning 6am, as I parked in the lot at The JFK Library. I didn't see any other cars and wondered if I had heard Walt wrong about the time. As I was about to get out and go to the door. A van with dark tinted window pulled beside my car.
My phone beeped with a text, it was from Walt and said: "Get out lock your car and get in the back of the van."
After locking my car, I turned and the rear door of the van slid open. As I got in Walt was sitting there with another guy and the driver swiveled the captain chair driver's seat.
Walt told me: "The gentleman on my left is a former lawyer with the IRS and the driver is a former prosecutor with the Justice Department. Neither of them are here as far as you are concerned. I am going to ask you some questions. They will be wearing headphones, that most likely prevent them from hearing your answers."
Walt looked at each and they put on what looked like headphones. He then asked me: "Due you and Kira file joint tax returns?"
I answered: "No, she always files her own taxes."
He then asked: "What about the house, bank accounts, investments, or anything that is held jointly?"
I told him: "No, we each have separate accounts and the house was my Parents' and It is in a trust and I am the only beneficiary. My sister got the condo in Florida and my brother the place in New Hampshire, all three are in separate trusts."
Walt said: "Good, now do you and Kira have trusts and wills?"
I was wondering why all the question, but didn't ask, instead I answered: "Yes, we both have trusts and wills."
His next question was: "Who is the beneficiary of each of your wills and trusts?"
I told him: "Both wills name our own trusts as the beneficiaries. The trusts name our oldest the survivor trustee for each of us. Before that we are our own trustee of our thrusts."
Walt then told me: "I will ride with you back to my place. Along the way I will tell you how this needs to be handled."
We got out of the van and it was moving as I unlocked my car. Once inside Walt told me: "You can not move anything from either storage room till I tell you to. Then it will be only from your storage room. Those gentlemen and I are going to arrange for both storage rooms to be entered and everything in them copied. If anything in the foot locker and the boxes in your storage room is found critical to the case against your wife. I will let you know and we will remove it before you move any of it. Now her room must stay as is still a search warrant is issued. You will have a copy of everything in her storage room."
I told him: "I am not sure I want that to happen to her. It will devastate my kids if she is arrested and they fined out their mother is a paid whore and a pimp."
Walt told me: "Don you need to know the facts. The Boston and Mass State Police have a file on her. As does the State Department of Revenue.
If the feds nail her first most likely the state will back off to save the tax payers the cost of prosecuting her. If the state gets her first, they won't back down. With the feds it can be handled more quietly. Kira is going down for tax evasion, prostitution, promoting prostitution, human trafficking if any of the women say she forced them in any way. Any assets she has will be sized and they may hit her with a Rico charge. You are in the clear because nothing you or her have is held jointly. Filing separate taxes is saving your ass,"
I asked Walt: "When will this all go down?"
He said: "My best guess is two weeks maybe three."
I asked him: "Will you let me know two hours before she is served so, I can tell my kids. I would hate for them to see it on the news or hear it from someone else."
Walt said: "I will do that if there is a leak we know about. They want to keep this out of the media, if possible, they feel there are others higher up controlling her. If so, and she cooperates. She could come out fairly unscathed, she will forfeit most of what she has a mast over the years, but they won't wipe her out."
I pulled up to Walt's house and he got out. This is not what I wanted, I only wanted to be able to pressure her into a divorce. I hated what she did our whole marriage. But I still had feeling for her as our children's mother. I need advice from someone that wouldn't judge me or Kira or would talk to anyone about what I talk to him about. I am catholic, but if I enter a church, it was because I had no choice. Even then I waited inside the door to tell if I heard the roof making any noise.
The only one I could think to talk to was my friend Simon. Simon and I ate at the same Jewish deli for the last thirty something years. The first five we would say hi. Then one day the only open seat was next to Simon at the counter. We talked and I found out he was a Rabbi and he learned I was a union official. From that day if we were both there we sat together. We became friends and went to ball games together. We would break bread as he called it at each other's home. Our wives got along and our kids hung out together."
