In the last few days before Karyn returned to work, she went into the building to do some prep for the coming semester. While walking into the building she ran into the remodeling supervisor Scott. Karyn had run into him before. He was an attractive, well-built man in his early 50's. In other circumstances, she would be interested, but Karyn had pegged him a player the first time she met Scott.
"Good morning darling," Scott greeted her, "how is the hot math guru today?"
"Better now that I see you stud!" Karyn teased. "What are you up to today?"
"Oh, I got a call from the computer teacher, something about messed up wires. I think her name was..."
"You have to meet Dawn? Oh, you poor poor boy!" Karyn giggled. "For your sake, I hope it's something easy to fix!"
"Just what I need, Broom Hilda," Scott hung his head.
As it turned out, Dawn was in the hallway up ahead. "Are you Scott?" her yell echoed in the hall. "What the hell are your guys doing? Are they clueless, or just stupid?"
"Yes ma'am! I'm Scott, what seems to be the issue?"
"Ma'am? Ma'am? Why you're older than I am! Now I see why your guys screwed up so bad, they're as dumb as you! Follow me!"
Scott hung his head and did as he was told. Karyn followed, she wanted to watch the show. Dawn was famous for her temper and once she got worked up, it took hours for her to calm down. Karyn had been on the receiving end, she couldn't help but smirk and tag along behind Scott.
At the end of the hall, Dawn turned to Scott. "Your idiots, um, employees, cut all of the computer coax in these three rooms. Then, before the wires were fixed, they dry walled up their incompetence to hide the evidence. What do you have to say for yourself Mr. Foreman? How the hell are these teachers supposed to work without internet and their equipment? Who signed off of dry walling anyway?" Dawn glared at Scott, oblivious to Karyn's presence.
"Sorry ma'am, um, I mean Miss, Missus, Miss," Scott stammered. "Let me check the work orders."
Scott headed to the construction office, Karyn following right behind. "Told you so," Karyn gloated. "She's a real bitch!"
"A-ha! She sure is. Here's the order, SHE'S THE ONE WHO SIGNED OFF ON THE DRYWALL! I'm going to give her a piece....."
"Wait!" Karyn yelled. "I have an idea, give me 10 minutes with her first, then come in the room."
"Dawn, you in there?" Karyn called.
"Yes Karyn, what's up," she replied.
"Dawn, you were pretty rough on Scott, so I thought I should tell you something," Karyn began. "The other day, you walked by when he was working in my room. He stepped out behind you, checking you out. He asked all about you, wanted to know if you were single. I filled him in, he knew it was only two years since your husband died, so he decided to wait to ask you out. Now, I'm worried he won't because he's scared of you."
"Really, he said that?" Dawn suddenly felt like she missed an opportunity.
"Oh, here he comes, you should apologize." Karyn suggested.
"Dawn," Scott yelled out. "It turns out you signed off on the work, what do you have to say now?"
