Good Bye Chuck - A Greenville Story
Working at a law firm as its advantages. Sure I'm only a secretary but I know all the lawyers. Now it may come in handy.
I'm Sara Giles, 38, 2 kids, Jolene and Heather 8 and 10 years old respectively. I've been married to Charlies, or Chuck as he likes to be called, for 10 years. We were high school sweethearts at Greenville Central. He played Tight End and I was a cheerleader. Voted most popular couple. The couple everyone knew would get married, have 2.5 kids and live together forever. Well 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
Chuck is a cheat. I don't know how long it had been going on or this was even the first time. But its the last time I'll deal with it. A friend of mine had seen him hugged up with someone who wasn't me at a restaurant off Route 74 on the other side of town. Probably a coworker.
Nothing had really changed to give his affair away. I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I needed first hand evidence. I called in a favor at White Investigations. Our firm works with them quite often. I talked to speak to Rodger Wilson. He said he could find out what I needed and gave me a good deal. He said to give him at least 2 weeks. He would do it off the books. He only asked for 2 lunches on me. He was married and I had met his wife. So I know he didn't have any ulterior motives by asking for lunch.
It was hard to keep the same routine at home. Chuck wanted sex a couple of times. I was able to beg off for having a period and not feeling well. He didn't push it. I'm glad since I don't know if I could have controlled my emotions. We went to a park on Saturday with the kids after taking of our usual housework.
During this all of this I didn't see any difference in Chuck the whole time. He was never home late. His pay didn't change and I didn't see any withdraws or strange charges on his credit card.
Rodger got back to me in a little less then 2 weeks. We met for lunch at Pancharo's, a new taco and Burrito spot around the corner from our offices since we were in the same building. We got our food and sat down. He got right to it.
"Just to let you know I followed him for several days. He left twice with a co-worker from his job. A Mrs. Julie Andrews. They went to the same diner twice. Sat across from each other with no intimate contact of any kind. They never held hands. Made eyes at each other or anything that will make you think they were in a relationship."
