Monday morning blues is for everyone. Steffi hates Mondays, especially this Monday. She was back from a weeks vacation with her husband and her children. Along with lethargy and blues, she discovers a bigger shock: the project she had initiated was in big trouble, and her career is now at stake. The only way to resolve this is for her to travel to the US. With a heavy heart, she accepted to travel.
Steffi hears that irritating sound of an alarm ringing. When she opened her eyes, she realised she was on a flight to US. She found herself sitting next to this person who kept making a faint sound in the throat, which reminded her of that irritating sound of an alarm. There was an announcement on the plane, and the pilot was saying something about bad weather. She could only understand the part where the pilot said that the plane was landing in 30 minutes.
The plane landed at London airport as planned. She went straight to the flight information display(FID) system to check for the gate number to catch her next connecting flight. The FID was showing the flight as delayed. Steffi noticed that airport looked much more crowded, and the atmosphere looked different than usual. She felt there was a bit of commotion everywhere. The only thing on her mind was to connect to the WiFi and talk to her husband, Gustave. After a long ordeal with the airport WiFi, she managed to call Gustave. He was anxiously asking how the situation in London was, was is it terrible, how will she get to the next flight, will they let her out of the airport. She replied, "Can you slow down? I don't understand why you seem tensed". He was puzzled at her reaction and said, "There is a horrible windstorm in London and other areas, and they have stopped all the flights from flying". That moment she connected all the dots and clearly understood the reason for the unusual situation. She said, "She will find out answers for all those questions and call him back".
She now noticed that the FID showed "Delayed" for every flight. When she looked around at the people, she realized that it was not a happy crowd. They were are frantically running in all directions. She thought it was vital for her to talk to the airline's customer care. She passed by a trail of people standing in a queue. As she kept wondering what this line was for, she saw that this serpentine line was for the airline's customer care enquiry. She managed to talk to one airport official, and she got to know the gravity of the situation. The official said that she needed to speak to customer support to get a connecting flight.
She gradually pulled her feet to try her luck with the airline customer care, and she only saw the line increasing to infinity. She wanted to go to the restroom. After a long time in the queue, she was able to get inside the most aromatic cubicle and sat there for more than the satisfactory period. After all the standing, she was so tired that she sat on the nearest available chair and didn't get up for a few hours from that throne.
When she looked out of the window, the sky was getting dark, and she still had no idea when she would be able to talk to customer support. She started to take a walk around and began to notice people, her most favourite pass-time at the airports. She went into the shops she knew where she would never buy anything. She had walked in and out of every shop on that side of the terminal. She finally spotted a comfortable chair, mentally and physically racing to that chair. After a long drained-out day, she was now able to rest her back on a much softer cushion. After a few minutes she felt someone was looking at her, she casually turned her head to see who it was.
There he was - Sam, her childhood friend. She didn't know if she had to turn again to confirm if it was indeed the person she thought it was. By then, he was already in front of her and said, "Hey Steffi, remember me?". At that moment, her mind ran to the box of memory cards and picked out that particular card that was not pleasant. She had never spoken to him after that incident.
She felt that the day couldn't have turned any worse than this. She spoke to her God! Why Lord! HIM of all the people?? She hesitantly wished him and smilingly replied, "Sam, You have left me no choice of forgetting you." She felt sorry to see his face crumple as crushed paper. She immediately changed her tone and asked him where he was travelling. He told her about the agony he went through from the morning. He asked her if she had anything to eat and wanted to join him in scavenging. She was hungry and tired, despite the hatred towards the person in front of her, she couldn't refuse the offer. She agreed to go with him. He carried her bags and started to walk. They decided to split themselves and whoever lands first at the billing counter buys for both.
He managed to get for both, and they gobbled up without uttering a word. The silence was very awkward, at one point, she felt being alone was much better. Sam sensed her uneasy feelings and helped break the ice by talking about his job and the duration of his stay in the US. She also told him about her reasons and how she had reluctantly agreed on this trip. They both spoke about kids and their spouses. After that, there was that dead silence for a long time. She then started the topic of their childhood days, remembering the games they played and how they spent their time with most of the time getting into trouble. They laughed, recollecting all their childhood adventures. Eventually, when they stopped talking, it was well past midnight, they never realized how the time flew by.
They both went to get information about their airlines. They were able to get a connecting flight only two days later. She called up Gustave told him about the situation and she would look for a room to stay.
As Sam walked towards her, he overheard her say, " I love you darling." and kiss into the phone. The kissing noise triggered something in him. He pretended to have not heard and sat at some distance from her, waiting for them to finish talking.
After a lot of effort, they found two rooms available and checked into the hotel in the evening. They decided to meet each other for dinner. When Steffi came to the lobby, Sam was already waiting for her. She saw how his smile changed instantly after looking at her. He had a sparkle in his eyes, and his smile changed from friendly to naughty. She sensed the way he was looking at her and she turned around to look at the mirror. She wore a short black tight sleeveless top and a pair of blue jeans, and the top showed her well shaped 34 DD breast and her perfect waistline. The skin-tight jeans were only inviting for more. Her silky straight hair was left open, and with the sudden breeze, a small strand of hair went on her red painted lips. She carefully brushed the hair out of her lips. After seeing her do that, he couldn't help but sigh, "Phew".
She giggled, "What?"
