Part 4
After returning home from an exhilarating evening at Jack and Kim's house, Joe and Liz were physically and emotionally spent. So much had happened in just the past two days and to Joe he was starting to have internal questions about whether this was the right path for them.
It wasn't about feeling any guilt about what they had done. It was more about everything happening so fast for them and not taking enough time to sort out their various emotions and concerns.
Liz seemed to be in a quiet state of bliss. Her eyes and slight smile were indicators to Joe that she seemed very happy with the current state of things. Admittedly, to himself, this bothered him.
Joe laid in bed naked ready to finally get some sleep. He watched his lovely wife as she brushed her teeth and hair at their large shared sink. Liz was naked as she did this and he still enjoyed the sway of her breasts as she moved the toothbrush back and forth in her mouth.
"Damn baby, you know how much I love watching those tits when you move them like that!" Joe exclaimed. Liz smiled brightly as the white cream of toothpaste began to leak from the sides of her mouth. Quickly she got a rag and cleaned off the corners as Joe still stared intently at her nude form.
Tomorrow was a work day. However, for the Carters, work meant going to their office at the opposite end of their split wing home. Both Joe and Liz were accountants and had been operating out of their home since their son Josh was in Kindergarten. This afforded Liz the luxury of being a stay at home mom as well as an income earning mother.
Most of their clients were small businesses and often a whole day could go by without a single client coming to visit. Sometimes one of them would go to a job site but a vast majority of time was in their home office. The office was a converted bedroom with two desks, two computers, and four tall file cabinets. It was somewhat cramped, but it beat having to pay the lease prices on office buildings in town. Plus, there were many tax advantages to operating out of a home.
This also afforded the Carters the luxury of setting their own hours most of the time. The exception would be if a client had an early morning appointment or one of them had an appointment at a job site.
Although they were in business together, they each had their own clients. Planning time off required a coordinated effort to know one another's schedule.
Joe knew that Liz had no scheduled appointments the next day and he had just one lunch appointment with a prospective client for himself. He took advantage of this knowledge to stop Liz from shutting off the night light and asked her if she would take the time to talk.
"Sure, but you look so serious. Is everything alright sweets?" Liz asked detecting a sense of unusual seriousness in her husband's voice. Not unusual that he was serious, but unusual, at least to her, considering the exhilarating events of the day.
"How far can this go, Liz?" her husband asked with a sense of worry. "Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the past two days as much as any man could. I'm thrilled that you are enjoying this as well. However, and maybe it's just because this is so different for us, I do wander how far we should let things go."
"Is it a good idea to have any more partners? It seems we've enjoyed the ones we've had so far, but does it ever reach a point of too many? And, if so, where is that point?"
Liz laid there listening to her husband as well as studying his face. He wasn't sounding jealous or possessive.
"Babe, I don't have an answer for you," began Liz, "however, I will never do anything that you wouldn't approve of doing and I know I can trust the same from you, right?
"Liz said this is all about fun and friendship. Ken and Barb were saying the same."
"Think about it Joe. How long have we been good friends with Ken and Barb? Haven't we always been able to trust them? If they have bought into this lifestyle and are still strong in their marriage then I see no reason we can't either."
Liz was making some valid points. Joe had to admit to himself that his love for his wife hadn't waned at all, in fact he noticed how much open he had become with her in just the past two days. Joe was normally more emotionally detached. He wasn't one to share what was on his mind. Maybe it was just a man thing, many men don't just don't share feelings, not even with their spouses.
Somehow, he now had easily approached his wife about a delicate subject and he had done it with ease. Maybe the apprehension was due to his acknowledgment of his changed emotional state. Was his renewed energy for Liz a result of his openness or was it a result of a need to maintain possession of what was his?
The conversation lasted into the early morning hours. Not only were their bodies bare, they both literally bared their souls to one another. Both found themselves fighting back tears at times as they realized that now, more than ever, they were still so much in love. This kind of conversation was healthy for them, yet it never would have happened without the events of the past couple of evenings.
They agreed to set their alarm for 10:00 AM so that they could get at least some reasonable sleep before starting their work day. Although there was no sex that night, both were satisfied with being able to hold each other as well as grasp for body parts as the mood would arise. Joe was simply too tired both physically and emotionally to even get hard this time. Liz probably could have gone another round but she was very content in spending this quality time with her beloved husband.
*************
Joe and Liz are still in deep slumber when the 10:00AM alarm goes off. This sets off the classic rock radio station playing the Eagles hit "Hotel California."
Joe awakens to the tune and when the chorus arrives, he begins singing along, "Living it up at the Hotel California. What a lovely place....."
Liz smiles at her husband. She can't remember the last time he had sung out loud for her. He actually had a nice voice but was never one to show it off.
Joe left the house at 11:30AM for his 12 noon appointment with Clay Meyers. Clay had begun a carpet cleaning service 3 years ago and it had grown to where he now had to hire 2 full time workers to keep up with the demand and he and his wife had decided to hire an accountant to take care of all business expenses including payroll.
Joe was the first appointment/interview that he had and he scheduled lunch appointments for the next two days to interview two other prospective accountants.
Clay was a short man, about 5 foot 7 with a stocky build and barrel chest. He was probably in his early 40's and already had a receding hairline of dark hair with some gray starting to find its way through at the temples and in his mustache. He had a high pitched voice and a habit of stroking his mustache while he spoke.
One of the first things Joe always would do when meeting a prospective client was to hand him a small brochure telling them about his and his wife's business. Most importantly, he wanted to be clear that he was an honest and upfront businessman. If the prospective client was looking for someone to participate in any shady behavior, he would end the interview immediately and ask not to be considered for the job.
This impressed Mr. Meyers. Clay shared with Joe his code of ethics and that although he wasn't the cheapest carpet cleaner in town, he took the time to do it correctly and there were never any hidden fees or gimmicks like many of his competitors had done. Clay and his wife were proud of their business and had no desire to associate themselves with someone that didn't share these principles.
The interview lasted nearly two hours as Joe shared his fee scale. Clay promised Joe a decision no later than Friday. For Joe, this was a relatively small account as far as revenue. However, Clay had impressed Joe so much that he really wanted to have this account, if for no other reason he believed Mr. and Mrs. Meyers deserved someone in which they could have full faith.
Joe came back home and found Liz busy working in her office. Liz saw her beloved husband and stopped what she was doing. She stood up and hugged Joe and gave him an impassioned kiss on the lips.
"Guess what, honey? Kim called earlier and we started talking about the events of the past few days. Kim said that she and Jack wanted to talk to us sometime soon. Is tonight a good night for you? They invited us over to sit in the pool. She was clear. Just talk only tonight, no sex."
"No sex? Why?" Joe thought this to himself but stayed quiet about it. "Of course, I enjoy their company and maybe just the four adults sitting around visiting would be a good way to strengthen the friendship.
"7:00 PM it is then. Oh, and of course, no need for a bathing suit." Liz said with a naughty wink in her eye.

Joe and Liz stand at the doorstep of the Davis home as Joe rings the doorbell. In the background they can hear the tune the doorbell is playing. It's a song called "Buck Naked." They had heard this song before but had no idea who the artist was. "How appropriate for them two," Joe thought out loud. Liz couldn't help but laugh at their choice of tunes for the doorbell.
