Brad's Birthday Surprise
Preface
This is a standalone story about Brooke and Brad Simmons, a happily married couple whose life changed after they participated in the Couples Camp program at Pine Lake. There is a lot of back story and adventures that happen prior to this that I think you might enjoy, so if you like this story you might want to read about them from the very beginning. Starting with Couples Camp, then Honeymoon in Hawaii, The Island of Anguilla, and The Surprise Visit.
Brooke was scurrying around, while Brad was still fast asleep. The season had come to an end and the resort was closed but tonight would be a special surprise event. Brooke was giddy with excitement as she poured her coffee. The last few weeks she had sneakily called and emailed more than a hundred people without Brad knowing.
She would sneak away from the cabin and down to her office at the resort while Brad worked from home most of the time. On those days when he needed to come into the office, Brooke found an excuse to stay back and make calls from home. Truth was, most of the time he was off flying to God knows where doing his boss Michelle's bidding.
Brooke loved her new life. The monotony of her life before was long gone and replaced with a vigor for everything it had to offer. Both her and Brad had found a passion in their work as well as in their unique sex life. This was a chance for her to show Brad the appreciation he deserved. His last birthday had come and gone and neither of them even realized it till it was past. They were so wrapped up in the whirlwind they had stumbled into.
"Morning sweetie." Brad sleepily exclaimed as he shuffled into the kitchen.
"Good morning love." Brooke cheerfully replied as she quickly grabbed another cup and pored his coffee.
"Happy birthday baby." Brooke declared giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Brad took a sip of his coffee as her words sunk into his still half-asleep brain.
"Oh yeah, thanks. I forgot it was even my birthday today."
"Well, I didn't." Brooke confidently responded.
"I have a big surprise for you." She proudly announced.
"I have arranged a big party for you."
Brad's eyes widened as he listened to Brooke's explanation.
"Both our families are driving up this morning and should be here any minute. Later tonight we are having a big party at the cantina, and everyone will be there. Thanks to Ed I was able to get ahold of a bunch of your old friends from work."
"Wait, what? They are coming here?" Brad interjected.
"I even got in touch with a bunch of your old collage friends, and they are coming too."
Brad was shocked and quickly tried to calculate how he was going to handle the inevitable questions surrounding their otherwise mysterious disappearance and relocation. Other than a few phone calls to update their family on their situation, there had been almost no contact with anyone from their old life in over a year. The only thing his family knew was he got a much better job, but it required a lot of traveling and that Brooke was able to go with him. The story they told both of their families was that Brad's job was paying for both of their travel expenses including hotel. So, there was no need to keep the little apartment they had before.
"Wait, you mean both our families and all our friends will be HERE?" He panicked.
"Relax honey, I took care of everything." Brooke tried to console him, realizing he was envisioning the confrontation and judgment of his new life.
Brooke sat down next to him and rested her hand on his knee.
"I talked to your folks and told them about Pine Lake. They know what Pine Lake is and what goes on here. Well, some of what goes on here anyway. They know that you and I are managing it and live here but that you still travel a lot to oversee other resorts and businesses."
"What about your folks? Do they know what goes on here too?" Brad asked, frightened by the prospect.
"They know the basics but nothing specific about the couples camp program or those kinds of things."
Brad was relieved to hear they didn't know about the kinky nature of the activities at the lake but was still worried about seeing everyone after all the changes to their life. It had been quite some time since the judgment of others was at the forefront in his mind. Both had grown accustomed to the openness of their sex lives but not around their friends or family.
"Don't worry it will all be ok; I will make sure you have plenty of fun." Brooke reassured as she gave Brad another kiss on the cheek.
"Besides, it's your birthday! You know what that means. I have a surprise for you later." Brooke laughed as she patted his lap and stood up.
The friendly reminder of Brad's cage refocused his attention and took his mind off the group quickly heading to the lake. Brooke was implying he would be released from his confinement as a birthday present, and that made him smile.
"Now get moving and get dressed! I'm going down to the Cantina to make sure everything is ready." Brooke yelled as she darted out the door.
Brad could see a few cars parked near the resort as he walked up the path from their cabin to the main lot. He didn't recognize all of them, but he did recognize a few. As he passed the parking lot and approached the courtyard, he heard laughing voices, fueling his apprehension.
"Hey there, Happy birthday." Brad heard.
The familiar faces and cheerful smiles quickly soothed Brad's reluctance. It was as if he was returning from a long cruise to a family that was grateful for his return. Hugs and kisses, handshakes and pats on the back calmed Brad and relaxed him like a warm familiar blanket.
Brooke had really outdone herself. She had organized everything. In addition to our families, she had requested the staff stay for the day and help to make it special. There was an amazing lunch followed by a tour of the Lake on one of the houseboats.
It was cold, winter had made its way to the mountain resort, but lucky for them there was no rain, and snow along the Californian coast wasn't a concern. The redwoods helped to block the winds and provided a steady natural harmony that whistled in the background, as the boat slowly followed the coastline.
"What a beautiful place this is, I see why you two moved here." One of Brooke's cousins commented.
Brad noticed the parking lot was much fuller as the boat approached the doc on the resort side of the lake. How many people had Brooke invited? Brad thought.
The short walk back from the boat to the cantina was filled with approving comments and admissions of jealousy at the amazing place they got to live. Brad's concern about conversation regarding the activity at the lake had faded. It was as if everyone had agreed to just overlook that issue and pretend as if was just any other ordinary lakeside resort.
"Wholey shit, look at you!" A voice called out.
It was an old collage buddy of his named Austin. Brad knew exactly what he was commenting on since everyone had congratulated him on the physical condition, he was in. Since that first month at the Lake his routine had changed to be focused more on his physical health. The fact that Austin was impressed really made Brad feel good.
"What the hell have you been up to my man?" Austin enthusiastically said as he gave Brad a huge bear hug.
Brad and Austin were roommates in college. But while Brad was focused on class Austin was much more interested in the college experience. You see Austin was there on a scholarship for weightlifting. What time he didn't spend at the gym he spent at the beach. He was that friendly good-looking guy who always had a bunch of girls trying to get closer to him, while Brad spent most of his time at the library. If it hadn't been for Brad's help Austin probably wouldn't have graduated.
"Well would you look at that." Another voice rang out.
"Kyle! "Brad happily yelled.
Kyle was Brad's closest friend through college. They were both focused on their education and often studied together. But like Austin, Kyle was very popular with the ladies. Kyle was a Paul Walker look alike, and often got mistaken for him when they went to a bar or the beach.
"You sure have been busy, haven't you?" Kyle declared with a proud tone in his voice, as he shook Brad's hand.
"I want you to meet my wife, Kate." He continued.
Brad graciously took her hand and gently shook it, not feeling comfortable enough to give her a hug. Brad was a little sad he hadn't been there for Kyle's wedding. He had been off trying to find Brooke in Anguilla about the time they had gotten married and well his and Brooke's wedding wasn't anything he could invite Kyle to.
After a few pleasantries and Kate's kind complements about our surroundings everyone made their way to the cantina. Brad was again surprised at all the people Brooke had rounded up. There were even a few childhood friends he would never have guessed Brooke knew about. It was a fantastic party, and the food was extra special.
Brooke had fresh fish flown in from Hawaii and the kitchen had done an excellent job of preparing it. The ordinarily delicious food the restaurant prepared would have been more than sufficient, but Brooke had made sure they went above and beyond with everything. Of course, the drinks were freely flowing, and some were indulging a little too much.
After dinner, there was dancing and a few fun party games Brooke had made sure would be suitable for the mixed company. A few presents and a bunch of nice cards later and Brad found himself making his rounds from table to table thanking everyone for coming to the party.
He stopped for a moment and sat down in Kyle's empty seat to thank some of the other college friends for attending.
"That's one fine piece of ass you got yourself there." One of the guys at the table whispered, looking over at Brooke, who was herself going from table to table.
"Yeah, I'm pretty lucky." Brad responded, annoyed at this guy's rudeness.
Brad could tell by the way he was slurring his words he was really drunk and figured just playing it off was better than confronting him at that moment.
"I bet she's hot as fuck in bed." He drooled.
"Listen bud another comment like that and you can leave." Brad angerly responded.
