My name is Lisa and am a 43 year old, Rooms Manager at a high-end and very exclusive resort in a tourist town in southern California. I oversee several employees and command a six-digit salary which I have earned through very hard work and dedication. My job comes with major pressure from ownership to meet budgets and make sure their monetary bottom line is met. I also manage a plethora of needy employees who each represent a challenge of their own. Part of my current work overload was being caused by our understaffing issues. One of longtime and reliable employees had quit her position with very little notice putting me in a bind right in the middle of our busy season. Luckily for me, help was on the way. According to the Human Resources manager, one of the girls from the Reception department was interested in making the interdepartmental shift to my department. I was very enthused about this prospect since this girl would have already been well versed with our operating system and of course would know our resort well. In essence, she would hit the ground running within our department and allow us some much-needed immediate relief. Her name was Kaylee and although I didn't know her very well and didn't work with her much, the few interdepartmental interactions I had with her were always cordial and positive. Before Kaylee's official transfer, I had to do a formal interview her. This was more of a formality since her transfer was solidified.
I had scheduled the interview at the end of the day and due to the high volume of calls, I had to keep Kaylee waiting for about fifteen minutes, but I was sure she would understand.
"Hi Rachel, can you send Kaylee in please?" I asked one of my employees, Rachel over the speaker.
"Certainly, Lisa I will send her right in," responded Rachel. As soon as Kaylee walked into my office, she literally lit the entire office up with her radiant smile, luscious dark strawberry blonde hair and amazing light skin tone. She couldn't of been more than 20 years old. Her physical appearance took me by surprise as this was not how I remembered her. She was wearing a rather short Tori Burch baby blue sundress that went at least ten inches above her knees which left very little to the imagination when it came to her defined and soft legs. Although she was wearing a soft cashmere sweater over her sundress, you couldn't help but notice her perky breasts which I could only guess were at least a C cup, much bigger than my diminutive A cup breasts. I couldn't help but feel that her physical appearance and attire overshadowed my own even though I didn't consider myself ugly. In fact, in my early days living in Georgia I was very involved in pageantry because of my looks. Besides the proverbial college drunk make out session with my college girlfriend, I was a straight woman by all intends and purposes and was married with two kids. Nevertheless, I didn't mind checking out my fellow female muses just like many other women do when they size each other up.
"Hi Kaylee, how are you today?" I asked as my eyes were still fixated on the young new employee.
"I'm okay. I thought our interview was to start 15 minutes ago?" asked Kaylee in an annoyed tone as she took a seat across my desk in the guest seat and crossed her legs as her dress rode up even further putting in display her soft legs. Her legs were exquisitely complimented by her perfectly pedicured red toes as she was wearing open-toed Christian Louboutin heels.
Her response to my question certainly took me by surprise as she was clearly bothered I had kept her waiting, "yes I apologize for keeping you waiting but it has been a zoo here today," I explained.
"I guess you are forgiven," said Kaylee along with a slight smile which I felt she said in a lighthearted tone.
"I am very glad you're joining our team in the Reservations Department. What are your strengths?", I asked.
"Well, I am a very hard worker and know how to get the job done no matter what. I also feel that I can ease the burden your position holds by bringing your room bookings up daily." replied Kaylee and soon after the interview began, my attention seemed to be drifting away from her face down to her legs and feet. I couldn't understand why this was but the more she spoke the more I became more intrigued.
I seemed to have dozed off while she was talking, "Is there anything else you need?", asked Kaylee as I snapped out of my trance. I could not have made my gawking more obvious and I was certain Kaylee had realized that I was in complete trance with her legs and feet.
Embarrassingly, I tried to compose myself quickly and end the interview as soon as possible, "No that would be it Kaylee. You can start on Monday at 8:00am."
"That sounds good", Kaylee responded and began gathering her purse and a few work-related documents I had given her. As she stood up, she accidentally dropped the papers on the floor. There was a slight awkward pause as I noticed Kaylee did not make much effort in retrieving the papers off the ground. Without further delay my body acted without me thinking and I quickly dropped to my knees and gathered the papers for Kaylee. As I handed them to her, I realized that I was in a complete subservient position. I was on my knees looking up at a new female employee as she was looking down at me even though I was her boss. As soon as Kaylee grabbed the papers, she gave me a mischievous look that tittered on arrogant. Without saying another word, she left my office leaving me on my knees wondering what had occurred. I couldn't believe what had happened to me, but the entire interaction with Kaylee left me with an inexplicable damp feeling between my legs. It took me the rest of the workday to put what had transpired during interview behind me and try to chalk up the interaction to stress from work. However just in case, I had decided to put distance between Kaylee and myself and would let my supervisory staff train her without much involvement on my part.
Monday came and I didn't see much of Kaylee that day nor the rest of the workweek. I even went as far as change my arrival and departure hours to try to avoid seeing Kaylee. It wasn't until the following week that I ran into Kaylee and I could feel my heart rate starting to go up at the sight of her. She was wearing an even shorter sundress then the one she wore during our interview. She also had some rather casual but elegant flip flops that showed off her fresh pedicured toes which were now a glossy pink that glistened more. Frankly, she was eye-candy in the strangest of ways, but I knew that I had to put a stop to these thoughts about the new attractive employee. This meant I had to address her choice of outfits which were not appropriate for the office. Being able to nip this situation in the bud would save me headaches down the road as I am sure one of my many fellow coworkers would raise the issue about Kaylee's attire and subsequently make it an HR dilemma. As a manager, HR issues are the worst.
"Hi Lisa, how are you?", Kaylee asked in her cheery but subtle voice.
"Hi Kaylee, I'm good, how has the training been going?" I asked.
"It's been good actually. Thanks for asking," Kaylee responded.
"Do you have time to step into my office?" I asked.
"Actually, I don't. I must take my ten-minute break. I'm sure it can wait right?" Kaylee responded in a passive aggressive yet assertive way. Her answer completely threw me off and was unexpected as I had never had a subordinate employee dismiss me in such a way.
