From Irri's Eyes:
"What about a platonic date?" I asked Bee over the phone, biting the inside of my lip.
"Platonic? What the fuck is going to be platonic about our date?" I could practically hear her raising an eyebrow over the phone.
"Because we're two friends going on a date! That's a friendly date!"
Bee barked out a laugh, "I'm looking up the definition of platonic on Urban Dictionary, and it says spiritual bonding. If that's really how you wanna categorize it, then get ready for some specialized spiritual bonding treatment."
"I've been ready." I grinned.
"We'll see." Bee replied. She's bold and I love it.
We had been chatting about our date for a couple of weeks. Life had been a whirlwind with our respective corners- family coming into town, work, and so on. It was to the point that the Jenga night feels like it happened years ago almost.
For obvious reasons, there were still hesitations with Bee. Plain and simple, two people getting together produced a handful of results. Was sexual attraction worth sacrificing a friendship? For us, attraction and friendship were now a venn diagram, entwined and overlapping.
Whatever goes down, I refuse to fuck up our friendship. Or in this case, for whomever goes down.
I'm a bad, bad girl. Bee should just... Okay, seriously?!
Texting and talking to Bee on the phone had me crawling out of my skin. There were points where I wanted to jump through the screen and into her lap. Finally, the wait was over, spiritual bonding treatment included.
Ironically, having a date had actually helped us slow things down. If Bee had come over like usual, we wouldn't have waited. Well, I wouldn't have wanted to. Leave it to Princess Charming to use the brakes for the first time in her life.
I hated and loved seeing her treat me differently.. Damn it Bee, who are we and what happened to our platonic friendship?

From Bee's Eyes:
I told Irri I would be picking her up.
It's been ages since I've had butterflies on a date.
Walking up to the doorway, my palms started to sweat. Before I could knock, the door opened with Irri standing in the frame. Her outfit contrasted warmly against her honey brown skin. My eyes traveled over her body.
"I was just about to ring the doorbell," I rasped. Why was my mouth suddenly so goddamn dry?
She stared and smirked, "You snooze, you lose."
I took a step forward and slipped my arm around her waist, "Losing ain't so bad"
Irri smiled and planted a small careful kiss on my jaw, "Consolation prize."
I grinned and pulled her close. "No part of this is a consolation prize."
"Damn right." Irri tightened her arms around me. After a good squeeze, she sighed. "Alright Ms. Distracting, we need to leave or we won't leave at all."
I grinned, "Promise?"
She scowled, "Let's move it lady."
I'm slightly swept off my feet with how she's treating me. Since this whole thing started, I had been the one initiating. She's comfortable with the idea of us and I'm enjoying the fuck out of it.

From Irri's Eyes:
Our friend Nisha recommended a sushi restaurant downtown. The lighting was dim and the tables were lit with lamps. Most of the seating was filled, you could hear the hum of the restaurant and some music punctuating the conversation.
While waiting, I watched Bee do her thing. She was talking to a waiter about our table and when it would be ready. My eyes traced over the muscles in her arm and the way her shirt fell off her back. I appreciated a toned back.
Afterwards, we were seated in a booth. The waiter took our orders and deposited drinks before leaving.
A mischievous look filled Bee's face.
"So." She stared and raised her eyebrows, clasping her hands.
I mimicked her actions, "So."
"I have a couple of questions that I've been wanting to ask you in person. They require a face to face response," her eyebrows danced.
"Oh yeah? Go ahead." I leaned closer to her and took a sip of sake. This was going to be interesting.
"When was the first time you thought about kissing me?" Bee tucked her hair behind her ear.
I almost choked on my drink. Damn her.
"Damn you." I can't help but blush. "Is this necessary?"
She looked at me and said in that octave, "No...I just want to hear it."
My body felt hot instantly.
I met her eyes, "It started as something more subconscious and turned into little moments that I pushed away."
Bee's leg pushed into mine and she raised an eyebrow. Why did we decide to go out in public for our date again? Her voice was husky and playful, "That's a very nonspecific answer, Counselor. I want more."
I leaned across the table and said, "Well when you ask a girl like that."

From Bee's Eyes:
Fuck. I couldn't stop myself from teasing her and now she's playing back.
I loved it.
Irri lowered her head and her hair fell over her eyes, "Remember Lee's birthday trip a while back?"
"The beach bonfire?"
Irri brushed her hair back, "You came to find me. It was how you approached me. So excited to see me, wrapping your arms around me from behind...That's when I remember having that thought and leaning into it. Acknowledging it."
