"You know you want me, just admit it would you already." She said to me and laughed.
I could feel my face turn red as she teased me. I had never been or thought of being with another woman in my life. But Savannah teased me every day and in emails about how I wanted her and she's that she's married so to stop hitting on her. She's been my co-worker for the past year and we get along great. We always joke around, prank and tease one another. She talks about her husband almost every day, especially now that he might be laid off.
I've only met him twice since she started working here. I never thought I would ever meet someone shyer than me but he was. I guess it was true about opposites attract. Because Savannah was loud, boisterous and loved wearing flashy clothes and shoes, but Steve was so quiet and shy that I still couldn't believe they were happily married.
"Ahem." Savannah was holding a piece of paper in her hand next to me. "Thinking about me again Victoria?"
I laughed "You wish." I looked up at her and she had these beautiful green eyes, long thick, curly hair, sensual lips, perfect white teeth, and a body to die for. She looked stunning even wearing just a t-shirt and jeans. I wasn't so lucky though. I had short, straight brown hair and eyes. I would give anything to look like her.
She started asking me about a client and what the problem was. I saw her lips moving but I didn't hear a word she said. I was so lost in thought wishing I could look like her that when she stopped, I had to shake my head and say "I'm sorry, what was the problem again? I didn't get all that."
Savannah just put her hands on her hips and frowned at me. "You never listen to a word I say do you?" I was glad we were the only ones in the office because even though she was joking, I didn't want anyone to think I never paid attention to her.
"Of course I do. It's not my fault you talk so fast I can't understand you." I say teasingly.
She shakes her head "Nevermind, I'll figure it out myself" and walks away before I can say anything.
I sat there looking at the door a moment. Should I go after her? Apologize? Send her flowers? I laugh at the thought. If I did that, she would torment me even more every day that I had a crush on her. I didn't but I found myself thinking about her more and more as I worked with her. Even at home at night, I would be watching TV and my thoughts would stray to her.
I was so glad it was Friday. I had to go shopping tomorrow for my niece's birthday on Sunday. I shut my computer down and started walking out of the office. I was dreading this moment because I would have to walk by Savannah's desk and say bye to her.
She was dancing and singing in her chair while listening to some rap song. I walked around the front desk "Bye, have a nice weekend Savannah."
She smiled at me "You too." I was opening the door when she said "Hey, do you want to go have a drink? I'm done in five minutes. Steve is going out with his friends tonight so I was hoping you might keep me company?" She smiled and clasped her hands together, pleading me to go out with her.
I looked at her and couldn't help but laugh as she kept mouthing 'Please' silently over and over again. "Oh alright. One drink, I can't have more than that because I have to drive home." I lived over forty miles from work and I hated driving at night.
She clapped her hands together excitedly "Thank you, thank you."
I sat in one of the chairs in front of the desk, waiting for her to get done. When she started shutting down, I got up and stretched my back. "Where did you want to go?"
She shut the lights off and said "Hmm, how about Jasper's? It's only a couple of blocks from here."
I nodded. Jasper's would be good. We could sit down and get something to eat while we drank. "I'll meet you over there? I'll grab a table if I get there first."
We walked out of work together, making small talk about work before she went one way for her car and I went another. When I got to my car, I thought to myself 'What are you thinking?! You know you are going to have more than one drink and have to call a cab, which will be about fifty dollars to drive you home.'
I got in the car and sighed. I didn't want to go now but it was too late to back out. I didn't want her to go there and then I never show up. I liked the working relationship we had and didn't want to jeopardize it. So I drove over to Jasper's.
I could hear the noise from the TVs playing throughout the room, people talking and laughing from inside before I even opened the door. When I got inside the restaurant bar, it was almost deafening. I hoped Savannah wasn't yelling out to me, because I would have never heard her.
I looked around but didn't see her sitting anywhere. There were still some open tables but they were filling fast. I stood by the door and bit my lip as I wondered if I should get a table or wait for her.
I looked around again to see how many tables were still open. There were about five, make that four left now. It looked like there was a booth open in the very back so I made my way over to it. It was still open when I got to it. I sat down and watched for Savannah coming through the door, hoping she would see me back here when she came in.
A waitress came by "Hi, my name is Candace and I'll be your server tonight. Can I get you anything to drink? An appetizer to start you off?"
"Just a diet soda. I'm waiting for a friend."
Candace smiled and said "I'll be back in few moments with your drink". She stopped at another table, writing down something on a pad. I looked at the door again for Savannah but didn't see her. I hoped I didn't miss her when she walked in because I was talking to the waitress.
I started to wonder if she had car trouble and I should drive back towards work when the waitress brought me the diet soda. "Can I get you anything else, something to eat?" Candace asked.
I looked at the diet soda and then up at her "No, thanks. I'm good." I started taking a sip of my soda when I heard a familiar voice "Oh I'm sure she'd enjoy a 'screaming orgasm' or 'sex on the beach right' now."
