A lot of people are surprised when they meet me. Zafirah Hasibah Kadir is the name. Born and raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Presently I live in the City of Ottawa, Province of Ontario. I am an Arab woman through and true, and a practicing Muslim to boot. I am proud of my Saudi Arabian roots and I am proud of my faith as a woman from the Islamic world. And here's the most funny thing. I am the most sexually adventurous woman on the planet Earth. Totally bisexual and loving it. So much for the myth that Arab women and women from the Muslim world in general are sexually repressed wenches at their men's beck and call. I own my sexuality. Who I choose to bring to my bed is my business and nobody else's concern. Do you understand me or do you need a translator?
There is an active community of GLBT People from the Arab World in the City of Ottawa, Province of Ontario. I am the Executive Director of the Persian Lesbians and Bisexual Persian Women's Support Group. It was founded in 1999 by Fatuma Hassan, a beautiful Arab woman who came out of the closet after divorcing her husband, Ottawa Police Service Constable Amir Hassan. Fatuma Hassan is a good friend of mine and although she's busy with her work as an Ontario Provincial Police Officer, she's never too busy to attend the most important meetings of the GLBT People of the Arab World. I am proud of gay Arab men and gay Arab women. My queer brothers and sisters from the Arab world who are out of the closet while living in North America do me proud. We're growing in number and we're showing the world another face of the Arab world.
It's largely thanks to Fatuma Hassan that I came out to my parents, shortly after we moved to our new place in the City of Orleans, Province of Ontario. They didn't take it very well. You see, my father is the leader of one of the mosques in Ottawa. It simply wouldn't do for a Muslim leader's daughter to be seen having bisexual adventures with men and women of various races in the Canadian capital. I discovered women long before I discovered men. There are a lot of lesbians and bisexual women in the Arab world. You see, in Arab societies, men and women live separately until marriage. So lots of Arab guys sleep with other guys to relieve sexual frustration and lots of Arab women sleep with other women for the same reason. If anything, I think there are more queers in Muslim societies than the rest of the world. I don't know any Arab woman who is completely straight. Isn't that funny? Well, unlike those closet cases, I decided to live my life in the open.
At Carleton University in the City of Ottawa, I met a very interesting young Arab woman named Habibah Ghadah. She hails from the United Arab Emirates. The first time I laid eyes on Habibah, I just knew I had to have her. I'm an Arab woman who loves Arab women. If you don't like it, you can kiss my big round Persian ass. Habibah is married to an idiot named Kader. He's way older than her and he's always out of town on business. One of those wealthy Arab guys living in the Confederation of Canada who think they own the world. Kader works for the Royal Bank of Canada and he's one of their executives. I see him as a balding, chubby little Arab man with delusions of grandeur. Fortunately, Habibah shares my low opinion of him. Whenever he's away, we play together.
